1.10 Is Coming

I haven’t been up to much lately. Tonight is BWL night so perhaps I will have an interesting post to make later :)

I did think I should weigh in on the changes proposed so far by Eyonix’s post last Friday.

First I was glad to hear in subsequent posts that they will not be taking Fear Ward from us Dwarves and giving it to all Priests. Many Priests are still crying about this claiming it’s over powered or forces all Priests to be Dwarves. There are as many though who call Fear Ward a convenience and great for learning an encounter but not required. The horde seem to do fine without it currently. The other argument is silly too because I still don’t see many Dwarf Priests the other races racial traits are just too good to pass up I guess.

So Eyonix didn’t give us much information. The bulk of the changes are going to be in the talents and they haven’t finished fleshing that out yet so that info was not provided. He seemed pretty apologetic about it, I think he knew many would be unsatisfied. He did give us this hint about talents “Each tree will have anywhere from 1 to 4 brand new talents available.” which probably means 4 new talents for Holy, 1 for Shadow and something in the middle for Discipline.

The great channeling prediction for Greater Heal turned out to be false. The spell will become a 3 second cast or 2.5 seconds with talents. No word on how much it will heal for that or the mana costs. He did say it would be 10% more mana effecient than it currently is. I think this is a good start but unless they put in some ecounters that let you use it I think GHeal will still be situational. The current encounters in the game practically require flash heal. I suspect the use of GHeal will cause much of the dreaded over healing.

They are giving HolyFire to all Priests and removing the silly talent for it. They are also reducing the casting time by 1 second making it 3. This spell is an absolutely awesome looking cast but fairly useful. I suppose like Eyonix mentioned when I’m farming I might open with it.

Inner Fire one of my favorite spells is getting reworked. They didn’t say exactly what they are going to do to it but that they know Priests ended up playing differently than they thought. The attack power component is rather useless. I have always loved the spell though and have always had the talents.

I did not like at all how he addressed Power Word: Shield. This is another one of my most favorite abilities. He said they were running numbers and would be adjusting the spell at all ranks accordingly. This at best would only be a temporary fix if it fixed anything at all. They need to find a way for it to scale with the game, or your equipment some how…

Other than that he said they were looking at all the Priest racial spells.

Hopefully we’ll see what the talents are going to look like soon. I’m really looking forward to 1.10 for both the Priest update and weather so I want 1.10 to come soon!
