Adventures of a Dwarf Priest

Despite the server having a huge queue, and being locked there was absolutely nothing going on.  I’m not sure what all these people are doing but apparently it isn’t instances.  So Inian and I decided we would go Ogre bead hunting in Nagrand like we had planned the other night before the servers exploded.

All was going pretty well we had got plenty of Ogre Beads and Kurenai when a Shadow Priest named Hexius in heavy PvP gear came after us.  We had heard in general chat there were some horde in heavy PvP gear being real bastards.  The guy was a very good PvP’er and apparently very confident in his abilities.  However I’m not sure why he thought he could kill both of us.  The first time he tried to MC me but not sure what he was going to do though he was much to far away to throw me off and Inian just broke it anyways.  So we killed him and continued on our merry way.

Then we were in the tunnel and he came back.  Mana burned the crap out of me and again we came out victorious.  Not sure why he thought it would be any different the second time.  So the third time he decided he would bring 3 friends with him, well having 4 vs 2 certainly helped him!  I told inian to run he didn’t make it I did.  I tried to come back to rez him and they were waiting apparently really high up and got me.

Following that I decided to call it a night but saw Hexius on the way out and he was on a fatkid mount.  So I decided to mock him being on a slow ass mount.  Maybe he should farm some gold instead of being a bastard.  Well the hunter started following me too and eventually they got the best of me.  Well sorta I mocked Hexius’s slow ass all the way back to the horde city when I got too close to the ground and the hunter got some painful crits on me and I flew off  I was at like 30% health and unbuffed and the priest flew up and jumped off his mount and casted pain and PW:D on me so now I was very much in danger of dying so I just casted my shield but my bar got messed up when I was mocking him of all things and fell to my death   Oh well no pvp kill for them!

So anyways if you ever see Hexius and your an Alliance, please kill him once for me! 

Didn’t really have the energy to play  today but I got on to check my mail.  I did notice and happen to do my last Nexus Crystal transmute!  I think I started out with around 40 of them which came off all my pre-BC raiding gear.  After they gave us the ability to convert them to small prismatic shards I’ve been slowly but surely doing it when I remember.  Originally it had a stupid cool down on it, then they changed it to a day.

I was going to do some PvP when I heard someone shouting looking for 1 more DPS for kara.  So I always miss guild kara and I wondered how these PUG karas went.  So I put myself in LFG and just tagged myself as healing and DPS.  Well it turned out this was a few NE folks.  2 were former FESTers, Ceph and Warf and one guy I didn’t know.  He was apparently holy and went and respeced Shadow and told me to heal instead.  He is probably one of those doubters about my dps.  I could have out dps him anyways that is for sure.

This run was long long long. It started yesterday and ran into this morning.  I stayed though because I wanted the faction and badges.  There is actually very little in Kara I actually want.  For instance here at Nightbane I was hoping for his offhand but alas it didn’t drop.

On the way back from a wipe and repair I was laughing because buffless with my healing gear my renew ticks for 666.  I was chatting with Ceph about it cause I remember back in the AQ days Jotex was teasing me about being impressed if my renew ticked for 666.  I think I had a 666 over heal and said something about it which started the conversation

Also with my consumables and fully raid buffed I got to 2k healing woot!  With the silly shaman we replaced our abandoned healer (more on that in a moment) with I had even more!

Oh and I was so pissed I must have had that stupid the object is busy error when I went to loot my prince badges and I missed them.  We went and did Netherspite and i realized as we were waiting to start I didn’t get them.  Which made me even more mad since he drops 3   So after we killed Netherspite (very slowly I might add) I went back and the Prince hadn’t dissolved yet!  I was able to get my badges after all woot!

The funniest thing about the whole run was the Priest Atrapos.  We still had 3 or 4 bosses left and he had died 12 times, I had died 3 times, exactly the number of times the raid wiped.  The NE shadow priest died more than me but no one died as much as Atrapos did except the mage was coming close.  He refused to control his agro until he had like 6 or 7 deaths and someone said something about maybe controling his agro he said he doesn’t like to be sitting idle.  Well he suddenly started though and stopped dieing.

So anyways  I knew from Cowtips he had 41 points in Holy and he used COH.  He also healed like he was a paladin he had so much over healing it was not even funny.  Anyways I look him up in the armory while we were waiting for something and I see it has him listed 3 times in 3 different guilds(Militia,Priory of Sion,FOLD) so he apparently moves around a lot   I noticed he had only 2 points in Silent Resolve and 3 points in Improved Power Word Shield.   I made a simple suggestion to him since he kept dying that maybe he should move those 3 points into silent resolve that through my own testing its a talent I can’t live without.

He eventually responded to me and told me that he never has problem with his guild (wonder which one he was talking about) and that he needs his stronger bubble!  So this morning I loaded his Armory profile into the Priest Healing calculator and turned off the 3 points in improved PW:Shield and basically his bubble would be 261HP smaller without those 3 points. So 12% less threat or a 261HP larger shield?  Hmmm Thats such a HUGE decision.  Not!  It is clear to me, and most of the Priest community that Improved PW:Shield isn’t worth the 3 points!  Once the reduced the weakened effect to 15 seconds for everyone I’ve never taken that talent again.

So anyways I think it was when we did Illhoof who did not drop my lighting capacitor after the boss finished the shadow priest rolled against him on some healing item and he was pissed that he was rolling on damage and healing gear and he left the raid.  Didn’t phase anyone we just found the restro shammy and continued on.

So that was my adventure in my first Kara PUG.  Will I do it again? Good question!

I’ve started my UI section I had been promising today.  It’s funny how many mods it looks like you have when you list them all.  Well I didn’t even really list them all leaving out addons to addons   This is just the list however more detail will follow!

I noticed a post by Nethaera today that basically said no 2.4 information soon.  I figured it would be this week but she is saying no, and probably not next week and she won’t speculate when it is.  Though she again both hypes and un-hypes the patch.  The other CMs have been dropping hints that it is suppose to be awesome.  Who knows, the wait for information is getting kind of annoying on WOTLK though, and then you pile the wait of this patch on that as well?  Basically I think they’ve said no WOTLK info till this patch is done.  Well the longer they string this one out the longer they string us out on the other.

Lets get on with it damnit!

Logged on and almost off again when I noticed a group waiting for 1 more. They needed DPS and I was all for being DPS. I let them notice me and then told them I’d DPS. The group had 2 pallys, one holy that was level 69 and a level 70 ret pally with 61 points in Ret! He was serious! We started out with a hunter and the Druid tank as well.

The tank was great, the hunter was so poor. He left after one of our wipes and we ended up replacing him with Inian. The ret pally was… well a ret pally and there for it was really like we were 4 maning the instance! Before Inian got there I was doing 40% of the damage, the hunter was doing 20% and the ret pally and doing like 15% tops. The Druid (who was tanking) and me pretty much were doing it all.

I will say one thing though, ret pallys may be absolutely useless but they make my spec oh so much more fun! With sanctity aura and judgements my Holy DPS was rocking the palace. That was even with me having to constantly heal because the rather irritating holy pally was quite horrible. The tank kept thanking me for saving him, it is kind of funny how I heal in my DPS gear is through the power of crits lol His armory profile showed he was ret so he must have just gone healing and it shows he only had 588 healing which I hope wasn’t true but I didn’t ask

Anyways we had the faction buff so I ended up with some good faction out of it so I suppose that is all that matters. Oh and I always like to DPS and with a ret pally its even more fun!

Grats to Blizzard for getting 10 million wow subscribers! Most fortuitous timing for there have been many more WoW is doomed forum posts recently.  I found that amusing considering the ever increasing queues on Deathwing and Doomhammer.  You would actually think the expansion was coming out soon or something but that is highly unlikely.  Given what we have seen so far and Blizzard’s track record I’m expecting a January 2009 launch of WOTLK.  If it comes out before then I will consider it an absolute miracle!

First of all Happy Insignificant Patch Day everyone!  Maybe finally we can get 2.4 on the PTR

Secondly guess who got their Gladiator Mooncloth Robe today?

Of course after yesterdays games I got enough honor.  Not only that I maxed out my stack of AV marks to 100 and got exalted with the Stormpike (finally I know).  I had always wanted that silly Battle charger for some reason and well what better thing to do with 50 marks!

So I finally changed ground mounts to my new Stormpike Ram.  Isn’t he cute!  I shall call him harry!

My next pvp objective will probably be the gloves I think.  Then everyone can be feared for an extra second….Wooooooo I know your scared lol

I happened to notice I was just a few thousand honor from my Gladiator robe and decided to make a run for that on the tail end of AV weekend.  The server was very full tonight, had to wait in a 10+ minute queue and things were quite laggy at times.

I had a pretty good time though I’m not as sturdy as I once was with Focused Will gone now.  I can’t recall if I mentioned it or not but I speced back out of it to Force of Will instead again.  I was missing my %5 damage and crit   This is the first significant non PTR time I spent in the new AV and I found it quite enjoyable.  We won I’d say about half the games.  I got a little extra hopefully enough to balance things out and come out tomorrow with the right amount for my Robe so I can look spiffy!

Started out on Deathwing tonight but no instances or anything going on with what I wanted to do so Inian and I ended up heading over to Doomhammer to finish of the Mages.  Since we had the cows in Shadowmoon we moved the Mages to Netherstorm since Blizzard has saw fit to make Horde and Alliance quests exactly the same

We of course caused much destruction with our classic Icy Hot fun!

We laid waste to TONS of blood elves looking for the silly captain that was like 100 yard from Area 52   I liked doing the charge up thing if only it left you glowing red like it does for the mobs.

I found this pretty interesting they didn’t have mana clouds when I went through Netherstorm with Laneer main and I ran across one.  They actually give you mana if you stand in it.  I thought that was a nice touch

At last I leveled, Inian was slightly ahead of me and leveled a little earlier.  So I officially now have 3 level 70s on 3 different servers

Of course shortly after this when I was heading out to buy my spells the server stopped.  It actually appeared all of WoW stopped.  I don’t know how many it effected but Inian and I could not get back in, on any server.  After we got through the login process none of the servers would load our character lists.  Not even Akama which is on another cluster as ours.  So perhaps it was a network related issue?

After that didn’t work out we actually ended up loading up old Vanguard: SOH.  I had patched up to check it out recently and see how it was doing I really liked it in the beginning.  Felt too much though like I was playing a beta game which was true   I wanted to see how all these patches had done.  Turned out Inian had a secret Vanguard account too so he had patched up and we went and played on that for the rest of the evening.  Well actually we ended up having such a good time we were up till 1am in Vanguard.  I play a Disciple which they made a lot better, and Inian was of course a Sorcerer.
