BlizzCast
by Laneer on Jan.10, 2008, under Blizzard
Blizzard launched Blizz Cast today, a nifty new Pod Cast featuring Blizzard on Blizzard interviews. I listened to episode 1 and found it very well produced! The first part is interview by Karune whom I don’t ever recall seeing a post from, he is the Community Manager. It with Samwise Didier the art director about Blizzard concept art and was very interesting to hear how one of their artists got started and what he is thinking when producing concept art for Blizzard.
The second part was an interview done by Drysc with Jeff Kaplan about Sunwell Plateau. There is a new rep associated with it of course to go with the New Raid dungeon featuring Tier 7 (no class specific looks), and a new 5 man, along plenty of dailies. The new rep called Shattered Sun Offensive, which is Scyer and Aldors coming together to drive out the burning legion. He kind of talks about the dailies as something that builds up so I don’t know as we do more maybe more dailies become available as a server, like the AQ gate opening or something. They are also increasing the number of dailies you can do to 25 which is interesting. People on the forums are always trying to get them to lower it! Shattrath will get updated with the patch because of this new alliance.
The 5 man is going to be a level 70 dungeon, more difficult around Shattered halls and Shadow Labs. There are 4 bosses, the first 3 bosses will have normal level 70 blues with the last boss dropping 1 lower level Karazhan quality epic, and in Heroic mode, the last boss will drop a Prince quality epic item.
My predictions for Priest changes might be wrong because they are saying they are evaluating class balance and don’t intend to do any drastic changes in 2.4. Other than that they mentioned small changes and UI changes. I found it funny he specifically he mentioned the ready check, but the description almost exactly matches what they added in the 2.3.2 patch. I don’t know if this was recorded before 2.3.2 was released or if there will just be additional changes to ready check.
I urge everyone to listen to the podcast it was very cool and I hope Blizzard does it often!
A Leason In Holy DPS
by Laneer on Jan.10, 2008, under Farming, Gameplay, Questing
When I logged out I had left myself in Moonglade, I know you must be wondering why in the world I would be there. Well in my attempt to be a completest I’ve been trying to get all the tailoring and enchants as well that I have access too. There are 2 recipes that are a limited buy in Moonglade I didn’t have. I’ve checked many times but they are always gone. They are always on the auction house for silly amounts of money. So that is a still a no go on those patterns!

I decided to ride out from Moonglade as I left and go get that flight point they FINALLY added to the bottom of Felwood a few patches ago. I had already picked up the new one they added in STV. It had been a while since I had been in Felwood. I used to come here often to farm Felcloth to make Mooncloth. After I got this flight point I also ran over to Eversong in Ashenvale.
Then I went back and did my cooking daily and headed over to farm my 5 Primal Air, and 5 Primal Fire. Inian had already been on and joined the slowest Shadow Labs run ever. I was chatting with him and they were finally on the second boss when their Rogue went link dead. Inian had been propping up the the DPS in the group doing something like 44% of the damage. I still need Lower City faction so I told him I’d come DPS.

He told the group and the Priest in the group said they needed “good dps”, and Inian assured them I was good DPS. In fact from what my Violator was showing vs what Inian had on the Rogue I was twice the DPS. They went ahead and invited me and about half way through the rest of the instance I reported my damage, Inian and I were doing a combined 70% or so of the damage. I was out damaging the DPS warrior they had by about 12%. So yes Inian was in a group with 2 Priests and 2 Warriors, and everyone was Human but me
We even managed to do the silly warlock guy with the run around method. I didn’t complain cause I wasn’t healing.

We did Mur Mur pretty quickly actually. No one died and I only got touched twice instead of my usual ‘the whole time’ hehe He didn’t even live long enough for me to run out of mana! Oh and I definitely still maintain everything I have is procing more than it did last patch. Maybe its JBoots syndrome but it sure seems like it!
Just before I left the group the Priest that was healing said “Thanks for the leason in holy DPS”. I thought what a great title for a blog post
So yes I can DPS everyone, quite well actually! I would have done even better if I had my fully damage spec on, right now I”m this PvP hybrid. I’m going to wait and see what is coming with 2.4, but I think I’m going to go back and get Force of Will again. I’m mostly questing, farming or instancing and don’t PvP THAT much so its kind of a waste of points.
Just before I left I checked the AH, yes those silly vendor patterns were there but they were selling them cheaper than normal. I ended up buying 4 vendor patterns for around 14 gold. I had made more than enough profit today to take care of that.
