First Zul’Aman Run
by Laneer on Mar.11, 2008, under Gameplay
Well I finally made it into a Zul”Aman run and my was it painful. It was a very pretty zone that reminded me a lot of Zul’Gurub. I can’t say I enjoyed myself all that much though.

Started off at that big door Inian and I found. It was interesting at how long you have to bang on that gong before the door opens. I guess it is for dramatic effect. What I didn’t know is after the door is open you have a 15 minute timer to get to the first boss to save some souls. If you do you are rewarded, as I understand this is where the Bear mount comes in. Which is most cool looking (not that I don’t love my silver talbuk!)

The trash in the front was relatively easy. Though I was already uneasy about things when they were talking about using MY fear as CC. My fear is fairly useless except in PvP and barely useful in that.

So here we are at the first boss staring at the trash pack in front of him. We got there with plenty of time on the timer to kill him, however the group makeup did not include any CC. So they thought we would some how magically make it work. So we wiped to this pack, I have no idea how many times. I Think I had 50% durability by the time we started the boss. We actually spent like 30 minutes finding a mage to bring here just to sheep one of the guys so we could defeat the trash then the mage left. Then we wiped at least once, maybe twice on the actual boss. The boss was relatively easy, just a tank and spank but some how we managed. Of course he dropped Melee gear because I was here
It some was some hunter gear that Thya got. This guy drops a neat healing robe.

On to the eagle boss. To get to him you have to run a gauntlet like thing ala suppression roomin BWL, or the bug tunnel in AQ40. Stuff keeps respawning until you get to this little mini boss at the top of the hill and kill him. We didn’t have any problems with doing this either.

The eagle boss was a neat fight. He did a variety of things such as toss people way high up (hurray for levitate), throws a nature damage debuff on you and does this storm attack where everyone has to hug the boss or you all die. Well guess what happened on the first try?
You guessed it one person didn’t listen and we all died. The boss also has some bird adds that fly over and hover around and divebomb random people. They got me a few times, not a huge amount of damage but we had a couple people picking them off. We actually quit after a few wipes to this boss because you only have so much time to defeat him. The zone eventually started to respawn and that was it.
I’m not sure how I compare in +Healing to Thailos and Naiyaa I think I’m pretty close. I was looking at the healing meters which Thailos loves to post which are completely silly. Basically I just kept renew on the tanks, kept up the dps, threw POM around constantly and on the bosses tossed GHeals on the tanks. No matter how I’m geared, I’m not going to beat a Paladin spamming heals, because to be honest there wasn’t any healing to do most of the time. I could try spamming flash heals to see if I could beat them to the punch but that would be silly and a waste of mana. Priests were not built for spam healing anyways.
I think my point is my healing was just as valuable, any healing is really. Being at the top of a meter healing doesn’t really mean anything because if I stopped healing we would loose. It’s funny usually people don’t beat Thailos’s pally heal spam but he has a disadvantage against a restro druid in Tree form. The Naiyaa basically was getting all the healing in first by keeping all the HOTS on them, so all Thailos was doing is over healing even more than usual. I was doing most of my healing with Renew as well. Besides POM doesn’t even count as my healing and I like using that a lot too because it is such an efficient spell. I always shoot for the least over healing, I want to make the best use of my mana as possible.
