PUG ZA

I get on, about in time for guild Kara, but it isn’t happening. Apparently Thalios wasn’t around and if he isn’t there to lead no one goes. I really wanted to try for some badges so I kept the word out looking for Heroics, Kara or even ZA. I finally see a request sorta asking for Healing for ZA and follow up with the guy. His group eventually decides they want a Shadow Priest but they can’t find one and eventually shuffle some people around and invite me instead.
They seemed like a good bunch of people, I think only a couple were from the same guild it was almost entirely a pickup group. We got everyone there relatively quickly and started right up which is also rare for a PUG Raid
We started off to the eagle boss, ran to him and did he before the timer no problem.
Then we ran to the Bear boss, and we were going to smash him before the timer until 3 guys who all live together DC’d. One of them was the tank and the other 2 were major DPS. Well it kind of fell apart after that and we lost it before they got back. Someone reset the encounter and we started again without a complete wipe. Finished him no problem but the timer had already passed.
I guess we did get something for defeating the Eagle boss before the timer though because everyone ran back to his area. I’ve never seen the extra item thing before. All the times I’ve gone with guild we go for the Bear boss first and had not defeated him before the timer.
We did the Dragonhawk boss after that and we defeated him easily even though I died towards the end do to some unluck circumstances. This was the first time I had seen this boss I think. After this we did Lynx boss who was totally freaking easy. All they did was concentrate on the totems and he went down like no bodies business. They were also using tranc shot at some point, I don’t remember that from guild runs.
We defeated the Hexlord again first try without any problems. He was pretty interesting fight kind of reminded me of that one in MT. He has a crew you have to deal with as well. I had a job during it to Shackle one of the mobs which I managed to do just fine. All his adds went down super fast, then we were left with him which seemed to be pretty easy to deal with.
We then with on to Zul’Jin who was quite the complex fight. He has 5 phases every 20% where he takes on a different spirit. Our first attempt I botched because I forgot which key I had bound Mass Dispel to. Apparently Mass Dispel is required to do this boss, and if I don’t do it we all die. No pressure or anything. So the next attempt I properly remembered and did it. I was terrified the whole time and would stop healing a few seconds before he did it so I could concentrate and make sure I got it. We got him down to 8% but lost too many people in that stupid Eagle phase and then the Lynx Phase.
I abosolutely hated this phase with an absolute passion. You have these little tornadoes going around everywhere that hit you and cause you damage and bounce off run somewhere else. The other part of this is every time you cast a spell, instant or other wise you take 1200 damage. This is where I am really glad I’ve been working on my HP
Our biggest problem in this phase was apparently moving too much. Apparently if you stand your ground it bounces and moves away but if everyone kept moving it was impossible to avoid it and you had it going everywhere.
Our second to last attempt we got him to 10% but couldn’t close the deal. We had only one healer up which was the problem mostly. Well there wasn’t enough DPS up either to finish the job with only one healer. It was another solid attempt but the druid who was the raid leader had to go.
People wanted to try again so we replaced him with a Hunter since technically we just needed more Melee dps. We tested standing still in the eagle phase which worked well got to the Lynx phase and lost the tank. I’m not sure what the other 2 healers were doing when he went down. I was healing him and then had just switch to myself (being almost dead) from one of his little rampages and bleeds he put on me. Everyone gave up after that. I was really hoping to defeat him after putting all that hard work. I actually really enjoyed myself though.
The whole time i was there I wished I had Circle of Healing I was able to take care of my group pretty well with Prayer of Healing however. On Hexlord I think it was they had asked if I had CoH though I don’t know why since I had been putting Spirit on everyone but anyways. I guess it was becase of the AOE damage Hexlord did however I got my group no problem with Prayer of healing. It was the other group that was out of luck but we did havev a Shaman Healer. Circle of Healing would be fun now though I think. I would miss the extra 50 spirit and 10% damage and healing from spirit though. I might consider it, I think I want the 51 point holy talent in WOTLK anyways
All in all and entertaining night!

Just a note on Lynx. He has a Enrage (or whatever it’s called) that needs to be killed off with Tranq Shot, or he hits the tanks too hard for healing to keep up with it. If the Hunter(s) hits Tranq early (DBM has a warning for it, so it’s easy) and the totems go down fast, the fight is super easy.
As a hunter, it’s my favorite fight in ZA.

Ya I had done this fight when the guild was learning it and wiped to him a ton. I was a little taken back by how quickly he went down. Everyone was doing exactly their job I suppose
