Blizzcon

It has been quite the roller coaster ride in my attempt to obtain tickets for Blizzcon this year for Inian and I. It is a lot of fun, yes a geek fest but a lot of fun
I really wanted to be able to go this year, it should be even more exciting with so much going in with Blizzard, plus the even larger venue. I had been waiting to post about this till there was a conclusion. Thankfully what started for me at 4am yesterday completed this afternoon at 12:43pm.
Of course unlike previous years Blizzard announced exactly when they were putting up the tickets, well what day anyways. They also decided to put the purchases through the Blizzard store, which inconveniently was not able to handle the load.
The Murloc which everyone in the forum grew to completely despise during the day will be forever remembered. Many people already started creating shirts and such featuring this hated character.
The site went down many times during the day as well. Each time it was up after fixing the initial problem, they managed to sell a few tickets. We learned this morning that they sold about 600 tickets yesterday of the 12,000 available. Of course during the downage we got yet another character to despise, the dreaded SCV.
I continued to be dedicated to getting the tickets, followed the updates and chatted in the forum. We were told that the site would be up “after 12:00pm” which in blizzard terms could have been any time
Of course I continued to monitor anyways and noticed it came up. I managed to quickly login which is key because the login servers seemed to fail before anything. My browser still had my two tickets in the cart which saved me time, and I got to fill out the antendee info before I ran into trouble. I started getting XML error which I knew from previous experience was just network capacity issue so I drilled onto it and got past them. I was completely blow away by getting to the process my order button on the last screen and getting success! My email was instant.
Congrats to all those who got tickets, and sorry to those who didn’t. Especially those who were as dedicated to it as some of us. I wish you luck for next time. Thanks for all the company in the blizzcon forum during on this! Blizzard should hold this in San Diego so we can have 50,000+ attendees
See you all at Blizzcon!
