Adventures of a Dwarf Priest

Before I go into my playtime story today (which is a good one) I wanted to touch on the subject of the recent blue (Ghostcrawler) attention to Priests.  On the one hand it feels good to see a lot of Blizzard attention being given to Priests.   I’m not complaining, but generally we are left alone, this is mostly due to there being nothing truly wrong with our class most of the time.  Lately there has been MUCH whining about Priests, and  I think it was spurred by both the formation of the Healing forum, a few misinterpreted comments of GC and the upcoming nerf of Circle of Healing.

For some reason a whole bunch of Priests have developed some sort of inferiority complex against the other healers.  People continue to put too much stake in healing meters, and keep trying to redefine our role in WoW as healers.  I find most of the complaints entirely miss placed, and I do not feel it is representative of healing Priests as a whole.  I made this post to a heated discussion that involved GC responding to a very non constructive post.

I do not believe Blizzard can please the majority of the people whining.  Plenty of it is stupid like “I have to look at health bars all the time” or “I have no role in raids”.  I do believe there are some problems with the Priests, mostly bugs in our talents, a few talents I would say are under powered, Renewed Hope for example but I still have it.  A lot of the bugs in the talents are even fixed in 3.08.  I think our biggest issue, and the one people should really be whining about is our level 80 spells Divine Hymn is completely worthless.  I do hope they do something about that one.  Over all though I think we are good healers, I enjoy being a Priest.  In fact I read a post recently I believe in the Priest forum that was talking about a thread from the tanking forum.  Most tanks preferred Priests as healers over all the other specs of healers.

I’m looking forward to 3.08 for both my Priest and my Arcane Mage.  My only hope is that GC takes everything with a grain of salt.  The whiners do have him convinced there is a problem, hopefully whatever he does to please them doesn’t negatively effect those of us who are happy.
