Elder Laneer
by Laneer on Jan.31, 2009, under Achievements, Group, Questing
When I got back on tonight Inien helped me get a group quest out of the way in Grizzly Hills. You actually get to have NPC help if had known that I could have done it myself possibly.
Then I managed to get a Drak’Tharon Keep group, a tank only invited me then we picked up some DPS. Inien was still in the area so he joined us. This let me get omy last dungeon elder! I still had to get my pantsuit though, i did that purposefully
Doing this on Heroic also finished off my Heroic Achievement, and got me Dungeon Master for Northrend.
Next we went to do Heroic Old Kingdoms because that was all Inien needed to get his Dungeon master. His last group couldn’t kill the last boss. We on the other hand did it with only 4 of us, and with him agroed on an accident. We had the rouge telling us that he didn’t think we could kill the last boss, or the other lady.
This was us having fun while waiting for the rogue to repair before we did the other lady. We used to do this in FEST all the time
It was funny too when we started the lady she immediatlly smacked and killed Inien. I though oh well that’s a wipe, but we continued on. Then she did the same thing half way through to our horrible ret pally. I thought oh that’s a wipe, then we continued through and killed her. Even though she enraged every time I was able to heal through the enrage.
So we finished all that out, and despite having a horrible ret pally even! Inien and the rogue were pretty close though. The tank seemed confused the whole time. It was an odd group. Oh I did managed to get the Wand of Ahn’kahet! Finally an upgrade to my old wand! It is quite nifty.
After all that before I went to head off to bed I stopped by to buy me a pant suit. Yes I am now an Elder yay! I was missing this title since I had it in Beta
After that I wen to IF to get that last Enchanting skillup to 425 and Tailoring to 430. Yay it is getting so hard to get points
Leaked 3.1 Notes
by Laneer on Jan.31, 2009, under WoW
I’m sure you’ve seen them everywhere already, but when I got home today I noticed a post pointing you over to wowinsider. There is a lot in there that looks like it could be true, and a lot that sounds like BS. I don’t know what to think really. Last time we had notes like this leaked it was MOSTLY true, I don’t know if it was because people are good guessers or if it is because it was from an early build and things changed.
The changes that were posted for the Priest was certainly interesting. I like the sound of the changes to Penance, and Gheal. No mention of Divine Spirit which GC specifically said would be changed in 3.1 along with Penance. So this is sort of in line with that but we’ll see. Take them with a grain of salt, it will probably be at least another month before we see one way or another.
• Surge of Light: Also reduces the cast time of your next Greater Heal by 0.5 seconds.
• Circle of Healing: Cooldown reduced to 5 seconds.

• Misery: Now grants melee and spell hit.
• Renew: Mana cost reduced slightly.
• Greater Heal: Mana cost reduced slightly, cast time reduced by to 2.5 seconds.

• Desperate Prayer: Instantly restores 30% of the caster’s health and reduces all damage taken by 30% for the next 5 seconds.
• Divine Aegis: The absorption effect can now stack up to 3 times.
• Penance: Channeling this spell will give the priest 3% additional chance to crit for the next 5 seconds.
• Reflective Shield: Also decreases the chance that your Power Word: Shield can be dispelled by 15%/30%/45%.
• Mental Strength: Also increases armor contribution from items by 5%/10%/15%.

The Questing Continues
by Laneer on Jan.31, 2009, under Questing
Was going to go out today with the family to Sealife, an aquarium park by Legoland. My son was down for his nap before we go so I stopped in to do cooking daily. I took a shot of me on my nifty new carpet! I was out gathering carrots for sewer stew, it is a miracle it wasn’t meatloaf!
I went to go turn in and happen to be closer to the well entrance. I jumped down and went right through the portal and hit the ground. I didn’t die but I was stuck! I had to portal out with my dalaran ring! Silly bugs! Apparently this happens a lot according to some guildies.
My son was taking a long nap (miracle of its own) so I went over to grizzly to do some questing. I went for the ones that items in my inventory. This one had me burning trolls with alcohol. I had another one where I burned undead miners, I think Blizzard has a piro working for them
Did this other interesting quest where you get to see a vision of something. The zone quests seem to all be coming together now and it is neat how there is a story line going in each zone.
I managed to see my trinket in action too, it isn’t bad. The damage one would be neat too. I was thinking though since the Egg procs when I use Penance for damage, I wonder if the Sundial of the Exiled would proc when healing with Penance. I’m guessing it must be flagged as both damage and healing and so when you cast it that counts as both. Inien doesn’t have dots but I’m curious if it might proc if I throw out pain all the time too, as the Egg procs off renew ticks.
Whirl Wind Night
by Laneer on Jan.31, 2009, under Achievements, Group, Questing
I started off this tonight with a bit of questing in the grizzly hills. I need to finish up there so I can move on to another! I was in LFG looking for one of the dungeons my remaining elders are in.
So I get a tell invited to a Nexus run, we ended up with a Pally Tank, Boomkin, Hunter, and a fairly new but decent DK. Based on his guild rank “alt” I’d say he was an alt, and a recent 80
He kept just about the tank in DPS, and the tank was well geared so I was pleased
I managed not to take a screenshot during the Nexus run but it went smoothly. They even managed to get achievement though I could have swore the hunter never moved. The hunter was our best DPS most of the time when the Boomkin right behind him her.
After that everyone was so pleased with how smooth it went, and how fast we did it we decided to do something else. Having got my elder from the Nexus now I suggested Azjol-Nerub next. So we all agreed and headed there. There was much talk about how hard the first boss is, and the second boss, and the last boss, but everything went easy. Apparently none of them have done it with a good group. Up to this point we have had no wipes, or even deaths.
After that everyone wanted to do another instance. I was shooting for Drak or HoS for another elder, but the Boomkin really wanted to do HoL. It was the Heroic Daily, and I happen to have the regular daily for it as well. Eventually I agreed and we went there. When we got to the first boss I asked if anyone needed the achievement, the tank was really scared about trying it I told him he would be fine, and the Boomkin really wanted a go at it. Of course I had no problem with it, I knew he was a good enough tank and we downed him and everyone got the achievement.
We had our first wipe through the elementals that explode. I was sitting there saying don’t kill them all at once, I went up the stairs and some how managed to agro the elementals at the top. We wiped of course, was all my fault and I don’t count that wipe technically
They were all dreading Loken, of course I don’t anymore now that I can heal through the damage. He is easy if you can just stand and DPS him. It was even easier to do with the hunters nature resists. I told them they would get the achievement and they all did of course. It was so cake with the nature resist not even close
After that we decided to do HoS. The boomkin was off geming some of the stuff he she got in the other runs and I was running around gathering the mats to build my Flying Carpet! I made it just before the summoned me and learned it when I was by the stone. I flew around on it a bit before going in and it is nifty. I didn’t realize that they made it a real mount in 3.08 I thought that had to wait for 3.1! I some how didn’t get a shot of me on it though, soon!
I haven’t done HoS much, I think only once on regular and once on Heroic. I was on Skype with Inien and he has done it lots so I was getting info from him. We went up the mining side first and managed to meet the elder quickly. When we got to the boss over here it went sort of ok but at the very end I got shattered and died, the Hunter died as well. The boomkin picked up healing and they managed to finish him off though!
She was no problem at all of course but the fight is funny because she is rather insulting through out the whole fight
We wiped on the first attempt of the archive, but the second attempt not only did we succeed, but we go the achievement! With both the DK and Pally grabbing the mobs none got through. I really like the lore that comes out in this fight. I managed to get some new shoulders finally here too! I can’t recall but I think the CoS ones were better but these were still nice. I need to get in with the giants though so I can have shoulder enchants.
So up to this point we had only 3 wipes, 1 my fault entirely, and 2 deaths (1 mine) which is amazing
These people were not over geared, we were not doing amazing DPS but they knew their classes. We started the end boss though of this instance and we did have some issues with him. I dislike this fight so much now! We got him down on the third try though, basically I realized looking at the combat log it was all nature damage, and had the hunter use his nature resists. Then the fight went easy to the end when I lost everyone but the hunter and I but my dots finished him off. He didn’t drop exactly the trinket I wanted but he did drop the Spark of Life which both me and the Boomkin rolled on. I figured it might come in handy.
So I managed to do 4 instances, both instance dailies, get a new trinket and shoulders, and make my Flying Carpet. Yes I would call this a good night!
