Icecrown Questing

by on May.30, 2009, under Blizzard, Questing

Naru the angels?

I did a lot of questing in Icecrown mostly.  I had a good time though, there are a lot of huge quest chains in the zone.  I’m still only like half done with all the quests for that zone.  As my Disc gear is improving so is my PvP/SoL build :)   It is kind of funny I’m sturdy enough now to tank big elite melee mobs in the 3 person quests :)

This quest chain pictured here in the screenshot was funny because you go through all of this crap to try and save him from the plague and then the Naaru just come and kill him essentially.  Presumably they are taking him to heaven?    Yay the Naaru are angels . I had a relatively fun day though.  Was just in and out questing, and I made a nice 500g in the process :)

Of course the day wasn’t all great, I’m sure you heard my screams right?

Booooooo

Yes despite my best efforts at 10am I was over 9000 in the queue.  This time luck was not on my side, not that being early in the queue helped me last time.  They still let people buy 5 tickets which I think is lame and they were all gone by the time I was 6k in the queue.  I’m going to continue my effort to try and win tickets.  Make sure if you haven’t to click on my Mountain Dew banner and sign-up!  Of course worse comes to worse I’ll probably get the Internet stream :(

Ulduar Visit

Woot Troll Pet!

I got on this afternoon to find I had something in my mailbox, yes it was my Sen’jin Fetish!  Ever since I did the tiki quests in Zul’Drak I wanted this one first.  So I had the gold and bid on it.  All the other horde pets are cool too but this is definitely my favorite.  In case your wondering how crazy I was, I was 2100G crazy :)   It’s only money!

I ran over to help a guildie after I finished my cooking/fishing dailies in Icecrown.  While I was there I finished off my Dagger skillups but just poking mobs to death for about 20 minutes.  I figure since I’m using a staff now I’ll probably not remember to finish daggers.  I got the achievement but I still want to max out staffs just for the hell of it :)

Downed First boss in Ulduar

I managed to get in an Ulduar 10 group shortly after I got on as well.  This is the second time I have been the first time being the first week it came out.  It is ALOT easier than it once was that is for sure.  Yes I think the guys I was with were better geared than the first ones, but everything seemed tons easier.  We even got the achievement for killing the first guy without doing system shutdown.

Awesome Room in Ulduar

In fact we didn’t even wipe once, or loose anyone until we got to this area where we didn’t pull some guys back far enough and just ended up with too many adds doing AOE damage walking in on us.  We had 3 healers, a some what undergeared pally, a well geared shaman and me.

We managed to do Razorscale and XT-002 so smoothly it was silly.  Convienently I was the only cloth wearing person in the raid and as luck would have it a very nice belt dropped of Razorscale.  I am now the proud owner of the Binding of the Dragon Matriarch.  This was actually a huge upgrade better than my current belt in all stats, and had a bunch of crit rating :)

Iron Council

We went onto Iron Council which we wiped a few times on thanks to me not dispelling this debuff the big guy puts on the tank fast enough.  I was dispelling it as fast as I would see it but I must have been having some sort of lag.  Even if it manages to tick once it is devastating.  I was going to watch the boss cast it and just spam dispel as he was casting but we ended up not trying again.  We had 2 people leave, then more and the group fell apart.  I was sad too because that was an awesome group makeup, practically defaulting all cloth to me :)

I enjoyed the run though, and just did some questing through out the rest of the evening.  I’m 1 token away from both being in with the humans at the tournament, and being able to buy my Ironforge pet :)

Naxx 25 Finished!

by on May.28, 2009, under Achievements, Group, Questing, Raid

Die rifts

I had the day off today so I started off the morning right by finishing all the questing I needed in Zul’drak.  Well before I went onto raiding the only thing I had left was a Gundrak run.  I enjoyed the remaining quests, and I earned about 400g and tons of enchanting mats too.  Doing the Tiki quests really made me want to buy the Troll Argent Tournament pet, they are so cute :)

That's a bad noth!

After that questing run I ended up doing a 25 man Naxx.  The funny thing was the raid leader was a guy Inien kept teasing me about who stole my name.  It is a DK named Lanaar :P   I never said anything to him about it hehe  It started off a bit rough, we wiped to Patchwork whom we started with 3 times before we beat him.  We lost several people in the process.  I never did understand why that happened.

After we beat him we one shot everything else quite easily.  Again I have no idea why we did so badly on patch ;P  We stayed with mostly the same core group loosing a dps here and there along the way.  They had sort of complicated but fair loot rules.  Taking into account Tier pieces, main and off spec rolls, and how many epics you got.  Basically though they said make sure if you are rolling on something you really want it.

So a few upgrades dropped here and there for me, but they were supper minor.  This paid off well for me because something I really did want dropped.  One of my guildies had got it earlier in the week, a staff called Damnation. This is a perfect staff for a Disc priest I think :)   It is the baby brother to another staff I liked in Ulduar called Rapture :)   I rolled on the staff, and won based on my luck, but because everyone who rolled against me had already won something I would have got it anyways :)   I haven’t had a staff since Classic WoW.  All through BC I used Mace/Offhand combo.  It is kind of refreshing to change again.

Finished Nax25

We continued to do well through the rest of the content and I actually got the few 25 man bosses down that I hadn’t got yet to finish out my 25man Naxx achievements.  So hurray for finishing!!! :)

Enchanting Damnation

After we finished I decided that it is unlikely I’ll get another great weapon for a while so I threw the best Staff Spell Power enchant on my new staff.  It is quite glowy now, in fact it almost hurts to look at lol  I finished off the evening by doing a Heroic Gundrak to finish that last Zul’Drak quest.  So now I can either pick Storm peaks or Icecrown to work on next.

Thanks to those of you who clicked on my mountain dew banner and signed up I appreciate the extra points.  I’m putting them in for the Blizzcon tickets just in case :)   Also remember by signing up the rumur is you will get this in game pet.

Mountain Dew Promotion

by on May.27, 2009, under Blizzard

Found out from warcraftpets.com that there is a promotional pet for participating in this campaign Blizzard is working with Pepsi on. I headed over there because you supposedly get this pet if you register with the site, then I found on the site you can win Blizzcon tickets. So to hedge my bet a bit I did every thing I could to get points to attempt to win the Blizzcon tickets. This is the reason for the banner on the site. If you click it and go signup not only will you get a cool pet, but you’ll get me some extra points! :)

Questing

by on May.27, 2009, under Questing

I ended up working late today but still managed to get on earlier than I normally do.  I mostly just quested and the like.  I put a new dent in my money again today.  I happened to see a Crimson Whelpling for 800G and decided it was low enough to buy.  I don’t have time to sit around and farm these so I prefer to buy them when they are cheap enough :)

Once Inien got on I did some questing with him as well.  I didn’t have enough energy to try any raiding.  I decided I would hopefully do that tomorrow when I’m off.  Eventually when we finished what we were doing Inien managed his OS25 group he was trying for and I went and did a heal for Heroic CoS.

COS Speed run

We had a good group and actually made it to the mount boss, not that I need it of course.  The other guys were a little pissed because the terrabad Warlock that was with us won it.  For some reason we didn’t bring arthas with us as we were going and all the mobs respawn if you do that.  They all ran off without me and wiped.  After that some name calling happened and the crappy warlock left mocking them because he got the mount.  We finished the instance with just the 4 of us fine :P

Silly Inien

After Inien finished up he surprised everyone with his purchase of the Traveling Mammoth!  He had been pinching his coppers and got the 16k gold you need for the mount.  You can see me here riding it with us.  The Vendor thing is pretty cool, and for someone who always has a full inventory it will surely come in hand.  Grats Inien!

Lucky Day!

by on May.26, 2009, under Achievements, Questing, Raid

My wife and son went off to visit some friends till Saturday so I found myself with a little more free time than usual.  So I hopped on to see if I could score me a few raids, and maybe get my pants.

Die Emalon!

What I ended up with soon after that was a 25 man Vault.  Not just any 25 man vault, but one that could actually kill Emalon!  It was so earie, I was sitting there healing the boss tank, throwing around a few raid shields when necessary when I thought, something doesn’t seem right.  Then I realized that the fight was going longer than normal.  I think I didn’t breathe from that point till we won.  He dropped all PvP gear and 2 of it was for Priests, but we had 4 Priests and I didn’t win any of it.  I did get the achievement and my first conquest token :)

A little bit after that I ended up in a 10 man version of Vault and did the same thing with a completely different set of people.  So the only thing I can determine from this is that the people that play when I normally get on, are not nearly as good as the people who are on earlier.   :P

After I did that I think  I did a few dailies then ended up in a 25 man OS.  I was finishing that up just about the time Inien got on.  I was excited because after I finished I would have enough badges for my Valorous Leggings of Faith.  Then as luck would have it the Valorous Gloves of Faith and this time I won them!  Well the token dropped but that is not as dramatic to link :)   Anyways I was excited both things were good upgrades.

Almost right after I finished I was on skype talking to Inien I got invited to a 10man OS.  Wanting to test things out I joined up and got Inien to come too.  We did that pretty quick, and I even won the spoils, yay gold!   Oh ya speaking of gold, my other upgrade of the day.  I bought off the AH the Bindings of Yearning for 950G.  They were a nice 214 upgrade, and had the stats I wanted particularly crit!

Charge!

After the OS Inien and I enjoyed some Tournament quests.  We did a few of the dailies before calling it a night.  I was quite pleased with my upgrades though.  For badge stuff I would like to get the Valorous shoulders next as I like the stat distribution more than my current shoulders.  Don’t care anything about the 4 piece bonus, plus I have my really nice Ulduar head :)

Getting Closer

by on May.25, 2009, under Group, Raid

I got on this evening hoping to catch the tail end of someones 25man Naxx or something.  Hopefully for the chance at some gear, and also for more valor badges.  I am still on course to get some new pants finally soon :P Anyways I was fishing in WG for the daily when we won WG which hasn’t been happening much lately. Two people were starting a 25 man VOA.  One required the achievement for emalon, the other did not.  I tried to convince the one that did to take me anyways, it is a dps fight but ended up going with the other group.  We could not kill emalon, in fact we wiped to the trash in front of him.  For once though we went and killed the other guy since it was late Monday night.

Itty Bitty

This was Inien and I messing around in town after our respective raids.  He drank a lot of pygmy oil, with a small feast, and baby spice! :P   Me I’m just on the baby spice and feast!  Shortly after this I got in a Azjol group and they needed dps so I got Inien to come.  It was a good group, between Inien and the Destruction Warlock we were cruisin.  Inien even got his 500 heroic badge  achievement while we were there.  I’m still a little ways away for mine, about 65.  I decided I want to trade my gloves in for the healing version ever since they change regen around so I need some more badges anyways.   I am just not lucky enough to win the ones off OS25 :(

Of course the reason I am short on badges is I started up Fesstir again.  I thought it might be fun to play the ol’ warlock so I got him ready and took him to northrend.  I was level 68, quickly 69 and half way to 70 now!   Was a good day.

Total Failure

by on May.20, 2009, under Raid

Failure

Gaze upon this group and you gaze on failure, because yet that is exactly what we were.  I got on pretty late, thought I’d mess around for a little bit and notice someone needed a healer for Heroic VoA.  So I join, they are talking about doing the new boss first of course, which to me meant I would get nothing.  I started off the only Priest, but we kept loosing healers (smarter than me) and eventually ended up with several more Priests.

Basically the raid leader kept insisting on 6 healers.  I don’t usually argue with PUG raid leaders but this fight is a DPS race, we need more DPS less healers. He wouldn’t listen and we kept getting blown up.  After being blown up 3 or 4 times I left for bed.  It really was a waste of my time, I’m not sure why I do it.  I really would like to see this boss go down SOMEDAY.

I would have been much better off to just go questing for a  half an hour than have that kind of frustration, sigh…

Achievement Hunting

by on May.19, 2009, under Achievements, Group

I got on this evening with nothing particular planned.  After patching (Another patch with Priest nerfs!) I updated my mods and had to reconfigure one.  The few Priest changes had already been implemented in a hotfix because it was sooo important to nerf us immediately.  So these changes really just fixed tool tips, except the Renewed Hope change I think.

  • Divine Hymn: Healing and healing scaling reduced by 30%. Buff on affected players changed from 15% to 10%.
  • Renewed Hope: Effect can no longer be dispelled.
  • Soul Warding: Mana cost reduction is now 15% down from 30%.

After doing a few dailies I ran into Inien out in the field completing the fishing daily too.  I thought it would be fun to go do an old instance for achievements so we headed back to outland.  We did the fishing daily there too then went to Mana tombs.  Neither one of us had the achievement and there is an enchant from there I never got.

Mana Tombs

Even though the achievement only required the last boss we did all the bosses though it is doubtful we could have got by them undetected anyways.  We didn’t do too bad on everything other than a few times biting off more than we could chew :)

Mana Tombs

The boss was super easy since he is mostly a caster even though we skipped mobs in his room and they all decided to help.  Luckily they were all casters so it didn’t matter.  I engaged in some super holy nova action! :)   There was still some time left in the evening so we decided to go give crypts a try, it is a super small instance anyways and we both needed that run.   Plus I believed there was an enchant from there I didn’t have either.

Crypts

I killed us quite badly on another over zealous pull, but it was in all good fun.  We could AOE the whole place fairly easily if I didn’t pull too many of course :)   We got towards the end and found the guys who had my enchant which is great.  After we beat the last guy we posed with the Naru :)

It was a fun evening though, I got a couple of achievements, which did push me over 5000 achievement points, and a few enchants I didn’t have yay.

Quality Raid

by on May.17, 2009, under Questing, Raid

Giant Kitty!

I managed to get on early this morning and did some questing before my son got up.  I managed to knock out quite a few I still had left in Zul’Drak.  Mostly following the chain involving this big kitty spirit.

Fused with bear spirit

I also got infused with Bear spirit seen here, and eventually got around to doing that quest everyone loves where you run around lifting up the tails of cats and bear looking for females lol.  I ended  up getting closer to finishing off this instance I can’t remember how many quests I did but I do know I made around 275G from questing :)

Death of the loot bag

Later that night when I got on this guild (who’s name is escaping me ATM) Inien often groups with and I’ve tagged a long a few times invited me to go finish their 10man Naxx.  Feeling like doing some healing I was up for it, especially when there are a few pants upgrades to my current pants even in a 10 man!

The painful dance

Had a good time, we had no wipes at all and that is always exciting to be with skilled folks.  We didn’t do too well on the dance, however I survived like I usually managed too (even though I am terrible at it) and kept about 5 of us alive despite being the only one removing diseases, and almost always having the guy too close to me so I relied on instants to do everything because casting slow :P   Thankfully I can Renew, Shield, Abolish Disease and Prayer of Mending with no cast time :)

Prepare for battle!

Here we are gathering to do Lotheb.  This one is always interesting for the healers but I have some good tools to deal with it.  I would time Prayer of Healing, and toss a Penance out if someone got really low.  Plus I have the shield which isn’t effected by the debuff.  We also had really good dps which got him down so we didn’t have to do that for long :)

The night was fun though I ended staying up really late because the next boss kept having something that I wanted (pants) but I finally bowed out after Gothik the Harvester.  It was good fun, especially because we just had 2 healers, the only time naxx10 is fun for me.  We even had one of the dps warriors leave before Thaddius and we still 9 manned it the whole time.  It is a nice change to group with Quality people, it doesn’t happen often enough for me.  I can never cate the guild raids, and the only time I ever am in a good group is when I catch another guilds run like tonight. :)

Still bummed about my Blizzcon tickets though :(   I hope I can manage them on May 30th.
