Adventures of a Dwarf Priest

So wanted to really play this evening but after working like an over 11 hour day, come home and run ragged by the kid, give him a bath and get him to bed there wasn’t much left in me to have fun   I got on anyways to make my daily deposit of frost badges but that is all I could muster even if I should be doing some rep and gold farming.  Not to mention I have a 25 man VoA left to do.

Hoping to pull some time on Friday for some ICC.  Going to take the day off, though that still leaves me with just the morning to get something done before everyone gets home.  Very pleased with the site update this morning.  Will have to see if I can do some sprucing up now.

Sat down to upgrade the site to WordPress 3.01 this morning.  I was totally avoiding it because I expected all sorts of problems in doing so.  Backed everything up, prepared for the worse and what happens?  Nothing!  I am astounded the past major version changes caused me all sorts of fun with plug-ins and templates.   Maybe there is an issue I haven’t discovered yet.  I notice my theme has an update but I have modified it so I might wait till later before updating that one after I make sure there are no other hidden issues

Also added the plug-in WPTouch which will improve the viewing of the site on mobile devices like the iphone and such   It is really neat I was quite impressed with the plug-in when I saw my site on my phone for the first time with it.

Got on a little early today and managed to get the weekly done.  It was razorscale this week so it was back to Ulduar.  When I walked it I was a little shocked, I don’t know if it is because of the higher quality or the PC just renders different but Ulduar is very pretty   Something seemed more pretty to me anyways hehe

Of course I had to highlight this little shot as well.  After all I don’t think I’ve ever had a computer that could actually render shadows of any kind without dying   So it was kind of neat to see Razorscale’s shadow  over us as we battled.

Ok here is where my “Why Me” comes into play.  I got back on after I got my son to bed, which took too long of course.  I wanted to do my random and what do I get?  HoL… I get this damn instance way too much.  Of course I come into it just as they are about to do the 2nd boss.  Of course after a few minutes I realized the previous healer must have killed himself or went for a walk or had “connection problems” because well the tank had no idea what he was doing.  He was barley geared in blues which I don’t mind but he was terrible to boot!  Then we had a ret pally in greens that some how managed to always get agro from the terrible tank.  We had a hunter which was the only one who knew what he was doing and a terrible cat druid.

So I spent the whole instance frantically trying to keep them all alive.  Failing once loosing the druid and ret pally.  I’ve never used pain suppression so much in my life hehe  So not only did I get silly HoL yet again but I got the group from hell yay.  The terrible tank was a DK which seems to be pretty easy to be terrible at.  I did end up making it through the instance though

After that finished I was just about to log but before I did I saw a tell for VoA10.  Since I’m trying to get as many badges this week as I can I stopped to get that done and out of the way.  Now I just need to get VOA25 and try to squeeze a few ICC runs in and I should get my pants The VoA run was almost fail too but thankfully we had a few really awesome people to make up for the lack luster ones

Managed to get on and run my daily tonight.  My son came over and sat on my lap watching and got really excited.  He really liked all the cool looking “bad guys” in Azjol   After I finished that which went really quick thanks to the group I was with I was trying to find a weekly group.  Wasn’t having any luck so I went and bought the remaining mounts from the main alliance factions I didn’t have.  I had been buying them up just for the achievements.

Just about the time I finished up doing that I saw someone forming a weekly group and joined up.  My son was really excited about Naxxramas because of the large number of “bad guys” I think   He sat and watched until we finished then I had to take him off to bed.

After I got him to sleep I finally managed to get around to getting my Mac keyboard driver loaded on the new PC so I can take screenshots again yay!  So my blog will be pretty again come next post.  In fact it should be even more pretty given how nice the game renders on my new card   Got to love ultra settings + 8x anti-aliasing

I haven’t got to log on last week at all, just for a little bit on Thursday while I was waiting for the fedex guy who was delivering my new computer and some on Saturday night.

Speaking of my new computer, it is awesome!  So far it has been pretty easy going with it.  I got it all setup and running SC2 the first day, which looks fantastic turned up full blast   I’ve installed a few other games, STO and Dawn of Discovery.  I got WoW installed but didn’t really get to tackle getting it configured until the weekend.  Then I ended up working again which disrupted that.  In the end I decided to tune my UI a little so I spent a lot of time fiddling with addons.  It isn’t quite done yet but I’ve got a usable UI.

Got in a 25man raid with Inien on Saturday.  I had kind of an annoying headache from working that day but I was bound and determined to do something fun.  Inien keeps trying to resolve his graphics problems in raids.  His card which is just as fast as mine should be rocking WoW but there is some sort of odd bug keeping it from doing it.  We wondered if I was going to have the same problem.  He has the ATI 5870 and I ended up going with the Nvidia 480.  To my relief with WoW settings maxed on ultra the card kept my framerate at a constant 60fps except in the largest of AOE spam where it dropped to about 45.

It looks fantastic fully turned up as well.  I should be ready for any Cataclysm improvements now as well.  With vsync turned on it only pushing the card about 40%.  I initially had ideas of over clocking everything but it is all so fast I’m not sure I am going to even bother at this point   Completed the remaining part of my plan yesterday getting a DVI KVM (which cost way too much) and a wireless adapter for the PC as the internet sharing thing I was doing with the Mac was causing some funky things.  Now I just got to get my keyboard squared away so I can take screenshots

Anyways hoping to have some adventures this week.  Need to try and get the weekly done today and some VOA’s if possible.  Hoping to pick up my 4 piece bonus by the end of the week!

Got on to do some more badge farming this afternoon just to get my daily and weekly done.  I doubt I’ll have enough energy to do anymore raiding than that.

Got the weekly done but SC2 is always pulling me back right now I have a hard time wanting to go into WoW. 

Really looking forward to my new computer.  I hope to see it shipping this week!
