Adventures of a Dwarf Priest

Blizzard

Almost Time!

by on Dec.06, 2010, under Blizzard, Editorial, Site News

Well it is almost the big day!  Expansion release days are always exciting but I’m also prepared for the servers to be unavailable.  However they might be getting better at it because I don’t recall WOTLK being to disruptive.  I think we got the major issues out of the way now thanks to the early shattering anyways.

I’ve continued to really enjoy Cosain.  You might notice I added him to my side bar so people can watch my progress.  I plan to alternate with Laneer, Cosain and Seun once the expansion starts.  I think I’m going to stick with Seun for my DPS fun because I find Arcane so enjoyable.  I never got that kind of satisfaction from DPS with Laneer though I didn’t do too bad it just isn’t as fun.  I’m going to stick to healing of course, I have no idea what I’ll do with my second spec, maybe I’ll change my mind later :)   I don’t believe I will have any issues leveling in my current Disc spec.

I’ve gone prot with Cosain because I want to learn to tank.  I think that would be an interesting part of the game I haven’t really done.  I did it occasionally when Inien and I played Horde on Akama with my Druid but not enough to really get a feel for it.  With Cosain’s gear it isn’t like leveling is harder thanks to his inheritance from Laneer :)

I’m also looking forward to leveling Laneer again. I always enjoyed the process of leveling.  I’m looking forward to Archaeology too!  More pets and all sorts of neat things, very Dwarf like too :)   New 5 mans are going to be great too as I’ve mentioned those are always my favorite.

I also got good news yesterday Amazon told me that my Cataclysm CE was upgraded to release day delivery so I should be logging in to Cataclysm officially on launch day after all :)

Happy Anniversary WoW

by on Nov.23, 2010, under Blizzard, Editorial, WoW

Man I missed the boat on that Anniversary.  It really is today, how perfect is that timing to coincide with path Tuesday? :)   Man I can’t believe it is 6 years already!  For 6 years Blizzard has managed to keep me entertained.  I wonder how many years WoW will go on for?  I’m sure there are people who thought it wouldn’t make it this long.  Blizzard has done an amazing job keeping the game fresh and changing.

Of course this Anniversary is pretty incredible because it brings us the Shattering.  The largest single change to the world Blizzard has ever done.  I’m looking forward to creating my first alt in 3 years.  I’m planning on race changing my other alts to Dwarves too :)   Go Dwarf Mages and Warlocks!

I’m pretty excited about logging in today and seeing everything.  I hope the patch goes better than I expect it to go :)

I hope everyone has a great WoW Anniversary, and Patch day!

Ready Or Not!

by on Oct.22, 2010, under Blizzard

Ready or not here I come!  Well almost :)  Just finishing up breakfast then pack a few more things and off I go to grab Inien on the way up to Blizzcon!  Woke up early with kind of a nasty headache but I seem to have got it to subside a bit.  Really looking forward to the show.  Hoping to get a chance to get some good Diablo III playtime in!  I’m also wondering if they plan to sneak any surprises in the opening ceremony or anything.  Be sure to watch my twitter!

Good bye 3.x!

by on Oct.11, 2010, under Blizzard, Editorial, WoW

Goodbye 3.x!

Man I’ve been a busy guy.  Most of the time I’m too tired to play WoW lately.  Been easier for me to keep up with everything from twitter than update the site.  Terrible I know, I hope to squeeze out time for 4.x though.  I had been up since 3 but got on to get a good bye 3.x screenshot in.  There were a few trees having some festivities on the steps celebrating their last hours in that form before it becomes a Cooldown.

Tree Pow wow

It started growing into quite a celebration.  I got out my little tree to be festive with them.  It is funny how many people have no idea what is about to happen tomorrow.  They were just talking about it and people kept being surprise about what was changing.  I wonder how many people are going to get caught off guard by the enormous changes to the game that will be in tomorrow.

  • 31 point talent trees and specialization system
  • changes in resources for warriors, deathknights, paladins, hunters, and warlocks
  • Stats are going away or changing what they do
  • tons of spell and ability changes
  • no more spell ranks

Just to name a few :)   We should have all the necessary things now for whatever pre-cataclysm events Blizzard has planned for us :)   Plus updated graphics!  The game is as pretty as usual especially rendered on my new computer :)

I’m pretty excited about 4.01, and cataclysm in particular.  I have plans to make a new alt for the first time in 3 years I think, a warrior :)   I’m looking forward to leveling in the new redesigned world.  I’m also looking forward to archaeology for my pet collecting needs :)   Lots to look forward too!  I got my CE ordered to join my other 3 :)

Hope everyone enjoys 4.x!

Blizzcon!!!

by on Jun.02, 2010, under Blizzard

Yes! This year thanks to my lovely lovely wife *big kiss* Inien and I are going to Blizzcon.  I had my wife, and one of my friend helping me along with Inien and I trying to get a good place in the queue.  My wife managed to get in the queue at just about 2000.  I got in at 6000, my friend at 5000, and Inien 21000. :P

HURRAY!

I was so disappointed last year when we missed out, hopefully this year is even better!

Celestial Steed

Celestial Steed

Ok I admit it I couldn’t resist it!  As I mentioned on twitter I managed to be one of the first people to buy one of these this morning.  This is because WoWinsider is someone I follow mentioned they saw something briefly on the front page.  So I kept checking twitter and they said it was up.  Ran in and when I saw the horse said it wold work 310% if you already had a 310, I was hooked.  As many of you might know I HATE protodrakes.  I only ride the one I have because it is 310%.  Now  never have to again! Yay!  Plus I got Little XT because he is so damn cute and says funny things :)

The horse is awesome works a ground mount too, and has sparkles come out when your standing there.

I just checked the queue is 150,000 right now.  They are making so much money on this it is nuts.  I wish I could figure out a way my company could make tons of money like that! :)   I would be rich because they have a sharing thing :)

Hacker Spam

by on Mar.19, 2010, under Blizzard, WoW

I just received a terribly fake email from Blizzard about my account.  I can’t believe these things would fool anyone but apparently they do sometimes :P   This was to my blog email which of course does not have anything to do with my Blizzard account (the first clue).  If you get this email, for the love of pete, don’t click on any links!

Dear:laneer

Recently, the problem of account invasion is getting worse and worse which cause enormous players’ equipments and virtual currency stolen. This severely damages the benefits of mass players, also causes our company lose a lot of customers.
Our company has to adopt some measures to safeguard our common benefits in order to strengthen the safety of mass players’ accounts, and firmly resist the account to be stolen again.
Through our company’s research and investigation to BLIZZARD customers,    we will make the following decisions: we launch a package of updated code strengthen system and dynamic code protection card which can effectively prevent the accounts invaded. We will send this package of code protection system to players free of charge.

and complete the information need to be filled in the following pages, when you have submitted the preceding filled information, if your account passes the check successfully, we will send this package of dynamic code protection card to you in the form of e-mail.
In 3 days after you receiving the e-mail, if you don’t submit your information, we have right to freeze your account, every player is obligated to protect the safety of the account. You must work together with us to be determined to crack down all the behaviors of destroying games

The misspellings, the language, the weird format, everything about this email screams I’m not official.  The best thing anyone can do who worries about there account is to go get a Blizzard authenticator, either the software version or the token.  The 2 factor auth is a standard in the IT world and really does work.  Be safe out there!

New Armory

by on Jan.15, 2010, under Blizzard, Editorial, Site News

Laneer Armory

Took a quick break to check out MMO-champion to see what was up and saw Blizzard upgraded the Armory.  They added some neat features, including a 3D view of your character modeled with all your gear along with a RSS feed of your recent activity.  It shows stuff like Achievements, or Achievement Criteria, Boss Kills, and when you aquire an item.  This seemed like a pretty neat thing to put on the site so I added it under my armory profile.

It is nice to see Blizzard continuing to develop the armory and is surpassing anything any of the other MMOs were doing, and used to charge you for even!

It is probably asking for too much but it would be nice if it showed things like when you aquired a pet, or mounts since these are things people collect and are proud of as well.

Yay New Pets

by on Nov.06, 2009, under Blizzard, Questing

Well it finally worked for me.  I never did hear back from billing, but I was able to buy my pets yesterday when I got home.  I was about to head to bed when I thought I would try.  Of course then I had to login and see them.  They are so cute.

New Family Members

Little KT is very well animated.  He doesn’t have an idle animation though.  However he has a idle sound.  He laughs all evil like every once in a while.  He also of course laughs when you click on him.  When you bring him out he has a flashy animation too, like casting a spell.

New Family Members

The Pandaren Monk is the best of the two.  He does all his kung fu and stuff!  I remember when I first saw him on MMO-Champion I figured he was going to be for something really special and I would probably not ever get to have him.

I think they should have put an achievement in for the new pets.  Something like “Profit!!!! (For Blizzard)”  or something equally appropriate :)

Before I logged off for the evening I did the cooking daily.  It was rhino dogs and I still had rhino meat in the bank, even though I probably have enough dalaran cooking tokens to last forever now.  I haven’t heard of anything new in 3.3 that uses them.
