Slow Grind
by Laneer on Jul.17, 2010, under Farming, Group, Questing, Raid
Maybe it is because I haven’t done one in a while or because I have so little time anymore but my goblin rep grind seems slower than normal. Even though I know it couldn’t possibly be as bad as when I did the Timbermaw 1 rep at a time before they changed the system all the way to exalted. That rep had the occasional turn in item do as do the water waste guys I’m doing now.
I got DK as my heroic daily today which I hadn’t done in a while. The group had lost their healer but I joined them still at the first boss. The tank was well geared but all the DPS were recent 80s I can tell. I never mind not overgearing and instance, in fact they are way more fun that way
I finished up the DK run which didn’t take much longer than usual and then started my quests in icecrown for the argent tournament. I put myself in the looking for raid system for a 25 mana voa, Inien was finishing something else and mentioned he did the same. I continued my quests in icecrown and then got a VOA25 invite, they were full though, and had apparently been wiping
I thought oh boy but stayed with them, a bunch of people left and I got them to invite Inien. I told Inien what he was in for and finally after a long wait we went again. I could tell the issue was their healers were severely under geared, but they had insane dps but then they wouldn’t switch to the frost thingys when they went up. Anyways we didn’t wipe but a considerable number of people died and in the end the of this story Inien got the mage pants that dropped from this boss with a roll of 25 against 2 other mages, and it completed his 4 piece set! Grats to him
One guy even offered him 6k gold for them hehe
After all that Inien and I finished up some tournament quests and I think we might have done a ToC in there some where too. We went over and hit up ZG to try again for my silly baby raptor pet and for some more mounts for him. Of course none of it ended up dropping. We did about 3 tries for the pet. It is a good distraction anyways
Where’s my Raptor!

Got on a little earlier today and ran my daily random and managed to stomp out the weekly raid. I even managed to get an achievement in my random I didn’t have.
I got back on later that night and Inien helped me visit Zul’Gurub to do some farming for the baby raptor I don’t have. We reset a few times but it was kind of late when we started so we gave up for the night and killed the raptor boss just to try for his mount.
A nice end to a good Birthday

I got on this morning for a short time, was just doing a little goblin rep farming and low and behold, the Hyacinth Macaw drops! I was floored! I didn’t think I would get it while I was doing this the drop rate on it is so stupid. After I did that some one came and screwed up my spawns so I ended up doing my random which was HoS. Went ok, though I thought it was funny the tank with almost a 5400 GS had never been there before and didn’t know where to go lol. Inien got on and got that random too and he actually wiped on protecting Bran. Don’t you love PUGS?
Anyways so happy with my parrot, that made my 120th pet too! What an honor!

Got on earlier this morning to do a little farming but ended up doing a guild run of the weekly. We ran it with just the 7 of us, it was of course no problemo
I got to let my baby XT run around during the big XT fight hehe
Got back on later for a bit of goblin farming. I’m back onto another one of my pointless goals now, 40 exalted reps
I’m working on the goblin ones because you can work on so many at one. Plus there is an added bonus I’m also farming for the Hyacinth Macaw which I do not own yet. The drop rate is stupidly low so having to kill a billion of them for faction also helps make it worth it
I hope I get one by the time I’ve got everything to exalted. Wish me luck!
BTW Happy Mother’s Day to all those WoW loving moms out there
Rep Grind

I got on this evening with no particular plans. I had a bad headache but had recovered enough to play as long as I didn’t jump around
When I got on Inien just joined a Ony 25 run. He invited me to go with him and I joined. Well it took FOREVER to get started. The first start was a wipe instantly and we lost a bunch of people. Then we had to refill the raid, this happened twice and then finally we after got everyone together we tried again and they wiped terribly again and we broke up. After that Inien and I decided to do something different, and went to go do a rep run on ZG.
This turned out to be a lot easier than last time we did it. We are so much more geared now it made things go way faster. We did all the bosses but Hakaar, and the only one that gave us trouble was the tiger boss. He was hard because we had to kill the 3 guys at once and with the one that kept healing that was sorta hard. I just helped DPS and keep us alive eventually we got it after a few miss kills.
After we finished I turned in one of the pieces for rep, and broke some coins. I ended up only need 5600 rep to get exalted. Another full run with Inien should get me exalted. It will take a few more for Inien though because he never did ZG originally
Of course once I get exalted it will go faster for him then we aren’t sharing the coins.
It was a fun night though, I wish we would have done this instead of that terrible Onyxia originally
HOT Dancer

I had a bad headache this afternoon and ended up lying down for a while. I was up so I thought I’d try to do something entertaining. No raids going on or anything so I ended up continuing my midsummer fun. I finished collecting all of the northrend flowers(and gold) and that put me over the top!
When we esentially got to double our flowers due to the reset I figured I’d be able to afford both the Captured Flame and the Brazier of Dancing Flames. I didn’t have any interest in it till I actually looked it up on wowhead and saw how cool it was. Not only does it look nifty, she responds to your emotes. I needed another item to keep track of like a hole in the head but she was just too cool to pass up.

Right when I logged in I threw myself in the 25man OS LFG and got an immediate invite for a raid that just wanted one more healer. Why I don’t know they always take way too many healers to OS. We tried one drake up and to my disappointment we didn’t get to do it. One of the guys I knew was in the raid and he was telling me our DPS was just too low. After we killed Sarth he dropped a staff I had never seen him drop before. It was the Staff of Restraint, and I was currently using Damnation. Now I haven’t made many big mistakes on loot in my life, but I rolled on the staff because when I hovered over it I read rating buster shows a small loss in HP and crit, but a gain in mana and regen, I read the regen number wrong though. I thought it said 20, when in fact it was 2 :\ I didn’t notice this till much later in the evening, after I enchanted the thing too. Funny thing was, under the old regen model it probably would have been that much of a difference. I was the only roller, but an offspec might have been able to use it. Just so I feel better I’ll assume no one wanted it
I’d say they are pretty close to even, but to be honest the Staff of Restraint looks more priestly, less evil
Oh well you live and learn
After that I did my fire dailies, I almost have enough for the braizer now. I also watched some horde make a run at our fire.
Then I talked a few guildies in going and doing Ahune. It was just 3 of us, so we got 4 attempts but no pet of course. Curse him!

Didn’t do much exciting tonight. I wanted to do some healing but there was just nothing going on when I got on. I dunno if people are already in a holding pattern for 3.2 or what? Maybe it was just an unusually slow night. I ended up continuing to pursue my gold running around to all the fires for a second time. I’m just about done with the old world, then I just have to take care of northrend. I am also hoping to get in a few more Ahune kills but Inien hasn’t been on lately either, and no one is running him anymore. I think I’ll have enough flowers by the end of all this to get me the fire dancer. Just another thing to use inventory space but it is pretty cool none the less
I continue to follow the discussions on the healing forum about all the changes in 3.2. Particularly the Nerf to Penance which really sucks. I’m not sure if anyone is changing GC mind or not. A lot of them are playing right into his hands, others have good aruments. I don’t think it is the right change personally. I would rather have seen the spell left the way it was, and the glyph changed to something else. I liked the idea of it giving crit, but GC is saying we are generating too much shielding so they probably wouldn’t want it to do that.
I hope to squeez in some raiding this weekend. I’d like to run Ulduar if possible. After I finish up my Midsummer stuff I need to get back to my Argent Tournament stuff. I’m sitting like one set of quests away from having the gnomes done so I can start working on the next race, probably Dreanei. I’m still debating on if I should save up the 100 tokens for the squire upgrade, or if I should get my next pet. It sounds like there will be more opertunity for tokens in 3.2 but I still may way on the pets because the squire thing is too cool
Golden Fire

I haven’t had much time to play lately. I did get on for a bit last night and was farming a bit of gold out of the fire event. Since they reset the event after I had done nearly all the tributes/desecrations I was able to go back and do them again
Still have quite a bit left to do, but I did redo outlands and about half of Kalimdor. I need some more gold to make up for my recent pet purchase. I bought the Emerald whelpling recently, which completes my collection of them.
Speaking of pets I managed to pickup the spirit of the fire pet the other day but never posted it. Given my level of time lately it is doubtful unless I am really lucky that I will end up with the other event pet
However my collection is still growing strong! I am up to 77 pets now, hopefully will be getting more of the tournament pets when there is more ways to earn tokens in 3.2. I’ve purchased one of the horde pets, I’d like to get the Broom next.
Speaking of 3.2 I’ve not logged onto the PTR yet but it looks like it is shaping up to be an interesting patch. I am excited at the opportunity for new 5 man adventures
The only sucky part of 3.2 is them nerfing Penance. They are really really trying to force me to respec, but I’m not going to do it! I just find Disc more interesting, of course they are making it less and less interesting. I’ll wait and see how things play out I guess.
Oh and since it looks like all my chances to get Blizzcon tickets have failed this year I went for the online streaming option. I like to make myself feel better by reminding myself all the money I’m saving but watching it in a browser instead of going there
Chef Laneer!
by Laneer on Apr.02, 2009, under Achievements, Blizzard, Farming
Today I just spent the time to go out and fish so that I could get the last cooking skillup. Then I realized I needed more rhino meat so I had to go do that. Eventually I got that last cooking skillup. Then I headed back to town and learned the Fish Feast and got my chef title! Wahoo! Yay for more titles!
I also found my Blizzcon cards and was able to signup for my SC2 beta key woot! I was never any good at SC2, but I did enjoy it. Protoss was always my favorite and so far playing it at the last few Blizzcons I think it still is!
