Adventures of a Dwarf Priest

Right when I logged in I threw myself in the 25man OS LFG and got an immediate invite for a raid that just wanted one more healer.  Why I don’t know they always take way too many healers to OS.  We tried one drake up and to my disappointment we didn’t get to do it.  One of the guys I knew was in the raid and he was telling me our DPS was just too low.  After we killed Sarth he dropped a staff I had never seen him drop before.  It was the Staff of Restraint, and I was currently using Damnation. Now I haven’t made many big mistakes on loot in my life, but I rolled on the staff because when I hovered over it I read rating buster shows a small loss in HP and crit, but a gain in mana and regen, I read the regen number wrong though.  I thought it said 20, when in fact it was 2 :\  I didn’t notice this till much later in the evening, after I enchanted the thing too.  Funny thing was, under the old regen model it probably would have been that much of a difference.  I was the only roller, but an offspec might have been able to use it.  Just so I feel better I’ll assume no one wanted it I’d say they are pretty close to even, but to be honest the Staff of Restraint looks more priestly, less evil   Oh well you live and learn

After that I did my fire dailies, I almost have enough for the braizer now.  I also watched some horde make a run at our fire.

Then I talked a few guildies in going and doing Ahune.  It was just 3 of us, so we got 4 attempts but no pet of course.  Curse him!

Didn’t do much exciting tonight.  I wanted to do some healing but there was just nothing going on when I got on.  I dunno if people are already in a holding pattern for 3.2 or what?  Maybe it was just an unusually slow night.  I ended up continuing to pursue my gold running around to all the fires for a second time.  I’m just about done with the old world, then I just have to take care of northrend.  I am also hoping to get in a few more Ahune kills but Inien hasn’t been on lately either, and no one is running him anymore.  I think I’ll have enough flowers by the end of all this to get me the fire dancer.  Just another thing to use inventory space but it is pretty cool none the less

I continue to follow the discussions on the healing forum about all the changes in 3.2.  Particularly the Nerf to Penance which really sucks.  I’m not sure if anyone is changing GC mind or not.  A lot of them are playing right into his hands, others have good aruments.  I don’t think it is the right change personally.  I would rather have seen the spell left the way it was, and the glyph changed to something else.  I liked the idea of it giving crit, but GC is saying we are generating too much shielding so they probably wouldn’t want it to do that.

I hope to squeez in some raiding this weekend.  I’d like to run Ulduar if possible.  After I finish up my Midsummer stuff I need to get back to my Argent Tournament stuff.  I’m sitting like one set of quests away from having the gnomes done so I can start working on the next race, probably Dreanei.  I’m still debating on if I should save up the 100 tokens for the squire upgrade, or if I should get my next pet.  It sounds like there will be more opertunity for tokens in 3.2 but I still may way on the pets because the squire thing is too cool

I haven’t had much time to play lately.  I did get on for a bit last night and was farming a bit of gold out of the fire event.  Since they reset the event after I had done nearly all the tributes/desecrations I was able to go back and do them again   Still have quite a bit left to do, but I did redo outlands and about half of Kalimdor.  I need some more gold to make up for my recent pet purchase.  I bought the Emerald whelpling recently, which completes my collection of them.

Speaking of pets I managed to pickup the spirit of the fire pet the other day but never posted it.  Given my level of time lately it is doubtful unless I am really lucky that I will end up with the other event pet   However my collection is still growing strong!  I am up to 77 pets now, hopefully will be getting more of the tournament pets when there is more ways to earn tokens in 3.2.  I’ve purchased one of the horde pets, I’d like to get the Broom next.

Speaking of 3.2 I’ve not logged onto the PTR yet but it looks like it is shaping up to be an interesting patch.  I am excited at the opportunity for new 5 man adventures   The only sucky part of 3.2 is them nerfing Penance.  They are really really trying to force me to respec, but I’m not going to do it!  I just find Disc more interesting, of course they are making it less and less interesting.  I’ll wait and see how things play out I guess.

Oh and since it looks like all my chances to get Blizzcon tickets have failed this year I went for the online streaming option.  I like to make myself feel better by reminding myself all the money I’m saving but watching it in a browser instead of going there

Today I just spent the time to go out and fish so that I could get the last cooking skillup.  Then I realized I needed more rhino meat so I had to go do that.  Eventually I got that last cooking skillup.  Then I headed back to town and learned the Fish Feast and got my chef title!  Wahoo!  Yay for more titles!

I also found my Blizzcon cards and was able to signup for my SC2 beta key woot!  I was never any good at SC2, but I did enjoy it.  Protoss was always my favorite and so far playing it at the last few Blizzcons I think it still is!

After my usual cooking quest I headed out this evening to do my Explorers Legaue daily.  It is the other daily I’ve been religously doing in addition to the cooking.  It is fast and I have my hearth over there so I can get there quick right now.

Since I was over there I decided to head up and get some glacial salmon for my cooking skillups.  It didn’t look like on the PTR that they made it any easier to get 450 like I thought they were going to so I just decided to go for it.  After getting two stacks of salmon I headed over to the Basin for some nettle fish.

While I was fishing there Inien got me into his 25 man vault he joined.  I figured I could get it out of the way.  I didn’t manage to get two full stacks of nettle fish before I had to head over though.  The run was easy as usual, he is just a big bag of loot after all.  Only interesting thing of note is there was one other Priest and he was Disc even!

Before bed I decided to run through some of the cooking and unfortunately I ended up skilling up really well with what I did have and that left me 1 skillup short of 450!  Totally bummed I decided it was time to go to bed though.  Tomorrow is another day!

I got on last night and meant to get back to questing but I saw someone shouting to start an AQ rep run.  We ended up getting only 4 people and decided to do AQ20.  We went through that pretty quickly.  Then we decided to try AQ40.   The guy managed to secure about another 8 people and we went through that.  It really wasn’t enough people over all but I am so close on both Cenarion Circle and Brood reps I was dieing to finish them.

In the end it was very late, and they appeared to not be smart enough to kill the twins (where we left off) and so I gave up and went to bed.  I have the head of the AQ20 guy to still turn in, that will get me Cenarion, but I’m going to be something like 38 rep short on Brood   Look for my Cenarion title and achievement in my profile tomorrow!

Got on and did a Heroic Azjol run for the daily.  I ended up with a group of people that actually NEEDED the gear from there.  So needless to say it was not smooth

Then I went around and did my dailies.  I really like how big my chains look on these giant undead guys

I’ve been running over to Fjord to do the one and only repeatable way to currently increase your Explorer’s league faction

As you can tell my recent Achievements I also did some cooking and fishing.  I was working on my Northrend Gourmet and I managed to finish out my 450 fishing

I did a lot of farming of mammoth meat too for my cooking.

Just when I got on this evening I see Tue was recruiting to do a mount run on ZG.  They were also going to make a pit stop on the fish boss for Turtle Books.  I decided to join and wanted to attempt Hakkar my only classic Raid achievement I didn’t have.

We ended up going with 2 other guild Priests besides me, Inien and Tue.  It looks really funny when all 3 of us popped our Mind Sear   I kept thinking of Ghost Busters, don’t cross the beams!

Our Hakkar attempts didn’t go to well without a second tank.  The silly guy kept mind controlling me and I’d end up killing everyone.  We made a few tries at it then decided we’d come back with another tank next time.

In one of the attempts I drank a bunch of Pygmy Oil and turned into a Pygmy Gnome, and then Inien threw baby spice on me so I was about as big as a critter!

After the Hakkar attempt everyone left but Inien and I.  We stayed for some rep farming fun.  Now that they changed it so you get full rep even when you out level an area you could effectively farm rep here.

I was sitting at just about Revered when we started and got a little over 12% rep while we were in there.

We did two bosses after everyone left as well.  We might be able to do others but we only tried two.  The Snake boss was super easy I figured he would be.  Then we went to bat lady.  I assumed she would be super easy too, but I forgot about her healing…  Inien and I fought with her for 14 minutes till we FINALLY got her down.  I didn’t think it was ever going to happen.  Basically Inien could only counter spell every other heal.  I didn’t have enough mana to go on for long, in fact if this was 3.1 we wouldn’t have been successful.  At the very end she was low, I got spooky out for the 2nd time and made a final DPS push, between Inien and Puddles and Spooky and I we finally killed her.  It was such a relief, and satisfying kill.

It is sad to think I wouldn’t be able to do this in 3.1 though   Or maybe it would have been easier if I had a shadow build  I could have switched to I could have done a ton more damage   Was a fun way to end the night anyways.

Still recovering from a cold, I went out to the Zoo with my Son and wife today.  It pretty much zapped every ounce of energy I had.  So I got on just long enough to run around and make my 3 pieces of cloth and then do my inscription research on Laneir.  Then it is off to bed with me!

Man I don’t know where I find these people, or rather how they find me.  I thought I’d do the heroic daily (Azjol-Nerub) and in the process pick up another dungeon elder.  I get in LFG and get picked up by a full group, they summon me and they are already there.  I thought this was odd but didn’t give it too much thought at first.

The tank was excited they had two Priests (they had a shadow Priest) saying it would make the first boss easier.  I thought hmmm I don’t see how (not that the boss is hard) and asked why he thought that.  His responce was “two shackles” in which I proceeded to inform him that those guys are immune and he and the other Priest kept arguing with me about it.

So we take up the first wave, no one ever breaks the webs, I am webed twice, the tank never controls the mobs and we wipe.  We try another, again I have to stop and break the webs (when its not me) and he still doesn’t control the mobs and we wipe.  At this point I just leave the group, not a word spoken.  I don’t care if they think I’m a jerk, I wasn’t going to kill myself over and over again for them. Then I realize why they were all there, they must have lost their healer before and the suckered me into it!

I give up on the idea of getting a group as it was getting late.  Instead I just farm Chilled meat for a while around there.  Then I was looking at my Achievements and thought I’d go get one of the few classic ones I need done. I check out my list and find I have Diremaul, Shadowfang, and Scarlet Monastery. I’m not sure why I didn’t get the SM achievement from the quests from there   Anyways Inien didn’t have DM so we decided to go do that.

We had all sorts of fun slaughtering the mobs.  We went and killed the tree boss which is pretty amusing because if you don’t kill all the trees in the instance he summons them.  We we killed him (really fast of course) and Inien was like oh they didn’t come.   Then we see two lumbering down, then all of the sudden we have TONS of them

Lots of fun later we had an entire forest dead before our feet.  That was the highlight of my trip I think

We went through all 3 wings and killed the king and became the new king!  I remembered this was one of my favorite places to go but Inien and I always had a hard time getting people to do so because it was harder than some of the other instances, and not a lot of melee friendly gear.  I was glad to Inien along because he remembered the way through the wings and such.  I’m not good at that being a healer I just follow along and keep people alive I don’t pay much attention to details like which way we went and such

With that out of the way I have only 2 easily Holy Nova’d zones left to do
