It’s Been A While
by Laneer on Feb.14, 2011, under Gameplay
My available WoW time has been very scarce lately. I fell really behind now, but still enjoy the time when I get it
Got to get on a little yesterday a couple of times and enjoy some WoW time when Inien was actually on! I got me the neck piece from the holiday dungeon run. That put me just over the top where I can do heroics now. I think I finally feel like I could heal them even, but we’ll see
Inien is working on the holiday achievements and was having a horrible time finding an Orc Shaman now that we don’t have a shared city anymore. So I popped out and made ThrallBob! The mighty Orc shaman whom after Inien through his flower petals on me proceeded to try to club him in the back of the head lol I watched as my lightning bolts whizzed by his face at point blank range. He was like a boss with more than 100K hp
I’ve played Seun my Mage a bit in the mornings. He is really fun to play and I still really enjoy Arcane. I started with Vashir with him, and I’m nearly done with it. I’m already nearly 83!
In Your Face Fun
by Laneer on Dec.14, 2010, under Questing
I haven’t had a lot of time to play lately. I’ve been running around like a chicken with its head cut off mostly! But when I have I’ve mostly been playing my Warrior Cosain. I have played Laneer for a bit of questing in Hyjal, I’m almost 81 but haven’t been in a huge rush to get 85 like some people are. I had my first tanking experience this weekend when I did Ragefire Chasm. I also managed to do Wailing Caverns as well. I kept leveling so fast that I wanted to do them before I couldn’t use the dungeon finder anymore to get in them.
I also managed a deadmines over the weekend as well. All these dungeons were done at the expense of sleep of course
DM was quite a bit different and the only annoying thing was people kept wanting to rush through it so I didn’t get to enjoy it that much. I’ve managed to tank 3 dungeons now and I have a new found respect for tanks
I didn’t have too much trouble holding on to things because I was on average of 3 levels higher than the rest of my group each time. The hardest part was everyone kept pulling before I did, and they wouldn’t give me any time to try and get a hold of the mobs.
I managed to keep everyone a live all times except when someone pulled a room in DM I couldn’t get all the mobs on me because there were too many casters and we lost 2 people, but still won the day. I’m getting used to the Warrior still, tanking especially and all the buttons you have to push
The class is very interesting to play, but now I have so many things to push I think I need to see if I can make use of Clique or not with melee
I’m also quite fond of being up in the mobs face as everything else I’ve ever played is always range
I managed to complete all the quests in Loch Modan now and will be moving onto wetlands even though I’m probably a little high for most of it now. Mainly it changed a lot when cataclysm so I want to see what is up with it . From running around with it on Laneer it looked really neat so I gota get in there and do some questing
I just got 25 and access to some glyphs so I’m going to have to make some up for Cosain.
A Little Here, A Little There
by Laneer on Dec.09, 2010, under Achievements, Questing
Jumped on after a very long day today and did a round checking my 3 characters. Been trying to AH Glyphs on Seun to get enough gold to buy epic flight
Laneer I’ve been trying to get the Arcane Elemental pet in Dalaran so I keep running around looking for books. I’m getting close on that one!
I got on Cosain after that and finished some quests I had in Loch Modan that were about to go grey. I did some mining and some more jewel crafting. I wanted to get some more recopies so I headed over to Stormwind. I was laughing looking at the portal from the train it seems like they forgot to change something. From inside the tram on the SW side looking out is the old view of SW. Once you go through the portal you actually go up a hill. I wonder if they will ever fix that
Eventually I had to go to bed so I can do it all over again!
Pet Collecting
by Laneer on Dec.04, 2010, under Group, Questing
I spent some time questing for the new pets. It seems all of them required a rather significant questing investment
I spent some time trying to thwart the attack redridge to get to the new fire fly. Lots of the new pretty lava
Then I took a boat ride over to do the quests up in Darkshore for the new tree pet. You practically need to do all the quests there so I just did all of them, what the hey I need Worgen rep anyways
The quests were all very interesting, a few reworked, mostly new I think only one was the same. I was very impressed by the visuals. I also kinda liked riding the boats again
Yes the portals were nice and speedy but some of the character of the game was lost on all the portaling
I especially liked this quest. Recognizing they sent you out to this ship to salvage filled with Murlocs that aggroed all over the place and almost certainly killed you at proper level. They made a new version of it where you use a little robot, go out there aggro a bunch of the Murlocs and blow them up. Finally getting revenge for the frustration
Finally I got to the Plants vs Zombies mini game over by southshore. This is for the happy little sunflower pet. I haven’t been able to get it yet though. One of the quests bugs out for me every time I defeat the second wave it doesn’t acknowledge it and nothing happens.
Later in the evening before I passed out I eventually did a little group work with Seun. It is fun being a Dwarf Mage
The Saga Continues
by Laneer on Nov.29, 2010, under Questing
OK even though I shouldn’t have I bought both the new pets Blizzard put out. I admit I have a pet problem
But hey at least I haven’t gone out and paid hundreds for the TCG pets
I continued some of my Cosain questing out at the Quarry today. The way they changed them around out there was neat. Loved going in rescuing the miners, well the ones that I could save
After that you get directed to the lake which is overrun with water elementals that froze all the Dwarves. So you get to save them and slay elementals. Then they have you check what the Dark Irons are up to, which is never any good. You find out they are going to attack IF and you have to put a stop to it! They have attack plans for the airport and they send you to a gnome ship to take you there.
This quest chain plays out pretty awesome. You progressively help more and more. Of course I got stuck on the end, the General wasn’t spawned and didn’t seem to want to. I guess he is a bit buggy on all the servers from what I read on Wowhead. I just left Cosain there in the hopes of getting him so i could move on with the quests. At this point my gear has got me to level 13 on quests for level 10s so I’m doing it for fun anyways
I read they are using tomorrow for the anniversary achievement, how nice for Cosain to be around for it!
Looking Good
by Laneer on Nov.28, 2010, under Questing
Did some AH stuff and then got on Cosain for a bit more questing. It isn’t hard to level when you are low especially in my gear
I am now level 12 now through no fault of my own really! I’ve been enjoying the revamped quests in Dun Morogh. So far I think everyone has been changed, a few vaguely the same modified to fit the story of the zone. The music is all changed it seems, more somber with a hint of the original scores
All awesome of course! I hate when people say, “wait you listen to WoW when you play”, because WoW is both playing the most appropriate music and sounds for what you are doing
Those pesky trolls are up to no good that is for sure and I do so enjoy cracking some good ol’ troll skulls
Every the protector I was saving everyone I could. I’ve rescued quite a few newbie as I’ve been running around as well. I am now spec’d into Protection to boot! I should be able to modify the site soon as Cosain should be in the armor now.
Of course the Gnomes invented yet another way to throw us large distances that doesn’t hurt…Much
And finally I ran into my first rare! Bjarn was quite mean actually, but gave up a REALLY nice pare of pants for me! After that I decided it was almost time for bed so I just did a bit of exploring to open up the map in a couple of places, mainly around Gnomeregan and to mine a bit too
I also put up a few JC items on the AH to make me some dough!
Dwarf Mage!
by Laneer on Nov.27, 2010, under Gameplay
Ok so I finally remembered to request the race change BEFORE I got on today. Apparently you can’t have been logged in for 20 minutes before a race change. I wanted to change Seun to a Dwarf! Woot! Dwarf Mage, oh ya! Yes I like Dwarves
I went for an old Dwarf Look for this guy, he has been studying the arcane arts for many years!
I volunteered to clean out the Guild bank for Cataclysm. We have a lot of crap in there and I figured we were going to need room for all the new crap
PLUS I was plan on making a generous donation of bags for all the coming alts
Today I made good on that promise with the delivery of 44 Frostweave bags! Worth about 4K on the open market I might add
I have been saving up frostweave for some time though so it really only cost me $300 gold in thread to make it all
The Guild bank had about enough cloth to add 12 or so more to that so I’ll be putting those in tomorrow as I clean out more stuff. I can see why poor Tue hasn’t had time to do this, Auctioning stuff is very time consuming. I found the Auctioneer addon which has made it a bit easier thank goodness. Also helped me out on Seun as I try to make a few gold selling Glyphs to the public. Of course they are free to any guildie
Anyways I didn’t really do anything but work on the auction house this evening and farm a bit of herbs to sell some Mage Armor glyphs on Seun
Glad to have another Dwarf in the my family!
Cosain!
by Laneer on Nov.24, 2010, under Achievements, Questing
I spent a little time again yesterday playing with my alt. Trying not to do a lot of serious questing so I don’t get too ahead of Inien when he makes his worgen, but I figure I have to get to where he will be when he pops out of the starting area
So far the questing has been great. Awesome stories going on with the whole cataclysm so far. Almost every quest in the starting area was different. Well they were all different but only one was really close, picking up the gnomes tools
Of course this time he dropped them because of the earthquake while he was on his way to the newly liberated gnomeregan. There was a cave in and the only way out of the area was by plane, how cool is that
After I got to Kharanos I got reminded about Pilgrim’s bounty. So I decided to see how many of these I could get done this year. Without portals or Inien around it was a little harder but I made good use of the time moving between cities by site seeing, fishing and training trade skills
It is silly how much cooking skill the holiday gives you, I feel really guilty! I got really close to the Turkyinator achievement but being level 7 the mobs slowed me down too much too often
Enjoying Cosain so far, of course he is outfit with the finest heirlooms, pets and gold
I keep leveling even though I’m not trying though just because of running into things and the PB quests hehe Going to have to make talent decisions soon, I’m level 8 now, and man did that come easy. Of course my heirlooms helped
I intend to duel spec him when I can and learn to tank. After all Cosain means “To Protect” in Gaelic!
Lich King Down!
by Laneer on Nov.19, 2010, under Achievements, Group, Questing
I teamed up with the Texas Mercenaries again tonight for another round with the Lich King. We were so close last week when they invited me I was excited when I was asked to come again. As usual I love raiding with them and we managed to pull it off tonight. Our defeat of the Lich King followed a FLAWLESS attempt. No one died, everyone did exactly what they were suppose to and brought him some major pain. I was even the first person to be pulled into the sword, I wish I had a screenshot of that! I was too busy trying to make sure I did everything right
I of course put aside my pride again for this run and spammed the HELL out of Power Word: Shield. I had read that Disc Priests are very effective against the Lich King. I typically won’t just spam one spell even if the masses tell me that is the most effective because it isn’t the most fun
But for the sake of getting the Lich King down I made an exception
I don’t think I would have been able to keep up with the shield spamming though after the 4.x changes without my Archangel. I was able to use that to recover mana each time the Valkyrie would come I’d assist, then pop archangel, BAM I got 5K mana and 15% more healing. Plus atonement is healing the whole time anyways. Atonement was severing me well with the ICC buff smite hits pretty hard
I found the cut scene which I had watched before from the fountain, so much more satisfying coming after the fight. I also found it very satisfying to kill the end boss of the expansion, DURING the expansion. Though this of course is at the very end of things but still an accomplishment none the less. I believe most people are trolling when they say he is easy. It takes 10 people in perfect unison to get him down. Perhaps in 25 man it is easier? It has always seemed to me in 25 man you can stand to loose a few people but in 10 man unless you outclass the content you need all 10 people.
Other than that most exciting moment, today I spent most of the time playing my Mage Seun. The one that was named Laneir I renamed recently. I plan to race change him to a Dwarf when the expansion hits
I was just running around doing the cataclysm quests for gold and fun plus queuing for dungeon runs. I also managed to do all the event bosses but I haven’t got any gear from it yet. Maybe tomorrow?
I also hope to make some attempts at some Ulduar or BT this weekend, Still have achievements to get there! This was a completely awesome ending to the day though. I thank the Texas Mercenaries for inviting me. I really enjoy raiding with them!
Tips!
by Laneer on Apr.21, 2010, under Achievements
After doing my Frost badge run on Laneer I got out the mage again today. I was chatting with Inien on the phone while I ran a few instances. I started asking some questions about when was best to use this or that and managed to increase my DPS quite a bit after that.
Some of my problems are silly, like I totally forgot I had the Mirror Image spell
I’m even glyphed into the thing too! Which I was told isn’t the DPS maxing glyph but it is still fun to have so many of me
Now I just need to remember to use it. I used it on Loken and it actually worked quite well. It was at the very end of the instance I remembered I had it though
Inien also talked to me more about how to more efficiently use my rotation. Suddenly I was always full mana now LOL I also totally forgot that Arcane Blast goes to 4 stacks, I kept wanting to stop at 3. I was pretty pleased at what I learned the evening. I even scored another achievement or two for Lanier.
Speaking of Laneir, I’ve decided to name him Seun when I convert him to a Dwarf. I hope Blizzard doesn’t make us wait long after Cataclysm comes out to do race changes
I had a Dwarf mage in beta, and was sad when they took them out. I kept trying to convince Inien into being a Dwarf, but he didn’t want to be short hehe They took it out and that was that.
Sorry for the lack of Screenshots today, I totally forgot to take some again. My son was all over me while playing today and with talking to Inien too I was a bit distracted LOL
