go us!

I had a lot of fun tonight being a terrible dps moocher.  No epic gear for him yet, but I have picked up a few more blues!

My Alts

by on Oct.01, 2009, under Site News, WoW

I haven’t had any time to really get on this week.  It has been crazy at work and by the time I get home I don’t even want to look at a computer.  I have been keeping up reading the Cataclysm forums on my blackberry when I have a moment.  I have all but stopped reading the other forums, they just bug me.  Too much whining and crying about silly things.  Not that the Cataclysm forum doesn’t have its share of trolls, but there is a lot of interesting discussion going on all the time.  I like this phase of the expansion with all the speculation and wish lists, and the like :)

I’m pretty excited about Cataclysm for quite a few reasons.  A very significant amount of the game is going to be changing and that is exciting.  We got revamps of existing systems, additions of new systems, new graphics, and new races!  I’ve mentioned it before I think but I do plan to make a Worgen.  I am going to go with a Warrior which will mean I’ll have the 3 basic archetypes covered now with a Priest, a Mage and a Warrior :)   I am purchasing all the heirlooms I can for him so he’ll have a bit of an advantage in the field anyways :) I dunno I might even have enough time to make him a set of 22 slot bags if I remember to go make cloth every time :P

Since I had been thinking about alts I decided it was time for that page to make a come back.  So I’ve added the Alts Page back into the system with a list of my current alts.  In other site news stay tuned for an update to My UI section still.  Also I have a write-up in the works for my thoughts on Disc Priests in Cataclysm.

Alts

by on Oct.01, 2009, under

I am a minority in my guild in having just one level 80.  If I was to put a label on my guild mates it would be altoholics! :)   I do have a few alts though, one is even close to 80.  I plan to add one more to this list, probably the last one, but who knows!  I will be making a Worgen when Cataclysm comes  out.  I plan to make a Warrior so I have a pure melee character.  I considered Rogue but I think I have made 3 rouges now that never make it past 20.  The Warrior should be interesting, I even got a name for him already, Furryous! :) I don’t normally use silly names, but was making an exception this time.  Will be very interested to see the new leveling progression in Cataclysm.

Laneir my mage was the original Laneer on Doomhammer till I renamed him when I moved my main off Deathwing.  Inien and I both had Mages on Doomhammer because we used to come there to play with our old guilld mates from EQ.  Till that day, what was that a year ago?  When we finally decided to just move over to Doomhammer. So yes now that Inien and I moved over he has TWO mages on the same server :P   One thing I can’t wait for though is the race change.  While I was generally against the idea of the service before, I look forward to making Laneir a Dwarf after Cataclysm comes out :)

Fesstir is my oldest alt I still have though not my first.  My first alt was Dunbar, a Dwarf  Hunter.  I started him when Laneer was like 45 or so and got him to around 21 I think.  At that time I kept telling myself I need to not make an alt and concentrate on my main and eventually deleted him.  I think I made Fesster, the original spelling of his name, when I was 60 on Laneer.  When I brought Fesster over to Doomhammer I had to come up with a new name as it was taken so Fesstir was my best approximation. I always enjoyed Destruction with this character and my Imp, and though I’ve never really had the gear for it I always stuck with it.  I may actually get Fesstir out again when Cataclysm comes out because I really like the sound of the the changes they are making to their systems.  I think I will wait till they let you race change to Worgen, because I think I’m going to de-gnomify Fesstir :)

Finally we have Mooku, my horde alt.  Inien and I originally created them before BC came out to get a feel for the other side.  Inien has a Shaman cow named Mooshu.  We also started it on a server that wasn’t in the same cluster as ours because back in the day the servers went down more and so when Deathwing was down we would go play on Akama.  The biggest problem with Akama was it had a very crappy economy, and very low population.  We haven’t played these characters in a long time, I’ve tried to get into it a few times but for some reason couldn’t.

Ding!

by on May.13, 2009, under Questing

I didn’t play much today but I did get on and enjoy a little Mage action on my alt Lanier.  I was very close to 77 so I continued questing and got it.  Though there were no exciting spells for me at 77.  I can now fly, though I need to buy both the riding skill, a mount, and cold weather flying.  Of course then I’ll just have a fat kid mount.  I may consider having Laneer loan him the money lol  Not that Laneer is rich anymore :(   Money is pretty easy to come by though so I’m not worried about it.

A Bit Magey

Basin Questing

After giving up on Shadow I think I will still pursue leveling up Lanier for DPS fun.  I completely enjoy Arcane DPS, and the Mage class in general.  Though he will never have as much as Laneer it would still be fun to have and play him.  I got him out this evening to see if I could get him to 77.  I continued with my questing in Sholozar Basin.

I ended up getting asked to go on a Gundrak run which I did, and enjoyed myself   Instances are always better for Exp when you have rest :)   There was an 80 mage with us who barely had more stats than me.  At the end of the run I had done 3% more damage than him lol He had a 18/34/19 talent build which Inien said was weird.  I  thought it was funny because he casted Arcane Missiles a lot hehe

Then we decided to do VH after.  The whole group went and we had a good time again.  This time I beat the 80 Mage by 7% of over all damage.  Think of the damage I would have done if I was 80! lol  Anyways I enjoyed my break :)

I was think I’ll have to go to a targeting dummy and see what my DPS is on Laneer with my holy dps build :)

I Hate This Holiday…

by on Feb.12, 2009, under Achievements, Group, Questing

I noticed that the Heroic daily today was CoS, and I really enjoy that dungeon and still have some rep to do for the Ebon Knights so off  I went into LFG.  I got almost an immediate tell trying to get me to do the last 2 bosses with them.  I was like Uh no…  I did some quests in Icecrown while I waited for a real group.  A rouge ended up putting one together.  We tried to be speedy and did pretty good.  We got to the guy but the DPS DK who had never been before and was confused ran and died to Malganis, and unfortunately we did not have enough DPS to kill the Drake guy before he got away :(

Ferns are also rare :P

I got on Laneir to do my inscription research and was going to log but ended up finishing a few quests first.  I saw a fern I was suppose to get by the river.  Then ended up running like 50 miles before finding another one :P   I found that quite hilarious consider the kind of plant life in the basin :P

Bannanas are rare in the jungle you know

Another quest I finally managed to finish is the one where you are after all these fruits.  Of course 2 of them don’t belong in a rain forest like place of the basin (orange and papia) but the banana did.  Of course I pulled 50 million vines and never got any.  For some reason I all of a sudden managed to pull 2 vines while I was questing other stuff and got them.  Again it is funny that I found 5 tons of Oranges in the jungle but no bananas :P

I managed to finish like 6 quests though in 20 minutes or so.  I enjoyed the followup to the fruit quest where you actually distill, was kind of a neat quest :)

After that I got back on Laneer and messed around more with the stupid Love Holiday.  I never messed with it I think till last year where I did a few quests that was it.  Now I feel compelled to do the stuff for the achievements.  Though I really don’t care about the violet protodrake, I hate the look of protodrakes :P   I just feel compelled to achieve hehe  Anyways I did a few of them before being annoyed to death and logging.  The holiday is so short too I hope I can find the time to annoy myself to finish them.

Not So Bad

by on Feb.10, 2009, under Questing

For a patch day it wasn’t so bad, especially for a surprise patch day :P   The lag in Dalaran was pretty feirce though, the loot lag that is.  I wasn’t have any issues out in the Basin though.

Herbing

I spent some time this afternoon enjoying the music and quests in the Basin.  I also got in quite a bit of herbing.  My new plan is to try to make some noble cards to sell at first in order to hopefully pay for my epic flight :)   Once Laneir is flying capable I don’t want to be running around on a fat kid mount that is for sure :P

I finally see why I ended up with so much Eternal life, you get it by the piles there!  Helped out since I need it for the cards :)   I managed to make two attempts, BOTH were the stupid worthless Chaos cards… *sigh*  I put them in the guild bank…  Maybe someone will want to make the deck to laugh at it lol

To The Basin!

by on Feb.09, 2009, under Questing

I didn’t really spend much time playing today as I was attempting to get some house work done. I did get on Laneir when I got home to relax for a little bit and managed to hammer out the rest of 76!  You just got to love my new shoulders + Wintersgrasp buff :)   After I got 76 I finished out the chain I was on and then headed over to the Basin.  I got myself established over there did a couple of quests before I headed out for the day.  It is such a pretty place going to be fun going through there.

A Questing I Will Go

by on Feb.08, 2009, under Questing

Leap of Faith

I spent the short WoW sessions I did today with Laneir my Mage.  I thought I was going to be able to start questing in Sholazar Basin today at 75, but apparently it is 76 :(   So instead I headed over to Grizzly Hills and worked on those.  I did all them fairly recently with Laneer so I am pretty quick with them.  They are a bit different not having a flying mount hehe  I can see why Blizzard didn’t want us to be able to fly at first, I think I had more fun the second time around.

I am fastly approaching 76 though thanks to my abundance of rest experience and the new shoulders I bought for Laneir with Laneer’s badges :P   Of course when I bought them I didn’t realize I couldn’t enchant them.  This is depriving Laneir of a lot of spell power from his Inscription Enchant, but it is getting me leveled 10% faster :)   I’ll send them off to another alt after I’m 80 with him.

Sleepy Time

So even though I just got 75 last night, I’m only 25% away from level 76 tonight!  I intend to head off to quest in the basin as soon as I hit it I think.  I wanted to quest there so I can level, and get herbs at the same time.  All these zones I’ve been questing in have like nothing in them.  I’ve been relying on the generosity of Inien for most of my inscription progress.  I continue my daily research, man is that a slow process.  I hope to start into making some cards soon too.

Been enjoying my pew pew though I think I may be giving Laneir a bit more face time this week than normal.  Laneer  has made some good progress I think :)

Now I Remember!

by on Feb.07, 2009, under Achievements, Raid

After several failed attempts at a 25 man Naxx today I did finally make it into one that stayed together and seemed capable of killing a boss.  Some how I managed to not take any screenshots while I was there but it went well.  If you look to your right you will notice that I got a few upgrades.  I managed to make out pretty well on this run :)   I came away with a new hat, a new ring, and a new robe.  This to go with the new cloak I also made myself today and the gloves I got in yesterdays OS run.

None of it was huge massive upgrades, of course at this point in the expansion there really aren’t any massive upgrades.  I did managed to bring my everything up a little bit with the combo of things I got including my crit which I had been trying to get higher.  Of course while the 25 man Naxx run was pretty successful, I remember exactly why I hate 25 man instances…  TOO MUCH WAITING.  I did a considerable amount of standing around which to me is not fun :P   I also feel like I contribute a lot less in a 25 man and there for find the 10 mans more interesting.

I mess around with Laneir a lot through the day too working on 75 and trying to get some of my rest exp used up :)   I ended the night staying up later than intended because I did one last instance to push me to 75 :)

10 man vault

Just when I logged off Inien had joined a 10 man Vault and they still needed a healer.  So rather than have him wait around for one I got back on to help.  I hadn’t actually ever done a 10 man Vault before.  It of course was stupid easy as the 25 man, the big bag of loot hehe
