The Lich King Killed Me

by on Jul.26, 2008, under Beta, Questing, WoW

Utgarde Keep with Giant Murky

I got on this moring while the wife and son were out and managed to get in a group for Utgarde Keep. One of the guys in the group had the item from the trading card game that makes vanity pets big.  That must have been what they were testing that time on the test server :)

Giant Murky Dancing

Token giant dancing murky shot! :)

Proto dragons are ugly

My first up close view of these proto dragons, eventually saw them outside too.  Man they are ugly!

First Boss of Utgarde Keep

The first boss comes after you kill all these guys at the table.  It was a caster and relaitvely easy at this point anyways :)

Last boss of Utgarde Keep

This was the last boss at the top of the keep.  I was so sad because I didn’t have the quest to kill him yet.  When I found it later I discovered the reward was for a ring that was way better than one of my current ones :)   The first upgrade I have seen.

Saved Towns people assisting

You know how usually when you save someone they either disappear, or run away, or stand there.  Well now they run around and help you!  One was a mage and frost bolted the enemy, another I got was a Priest who casted Prayer of Fortitude on us all and healed us too.

The Lich King

This spirit quest was confusing me at first.  The Lich King was a red hearing.

Pinned to the ground by the Lich King before death

He pinned me to the ground then when it wore off I died :P   Then I was stupid enough to get too near him again and he said “You are either Persistant or stupid” and killed me again :P

The Argent Crusade Relic the hard way

I ran through like 100s of undead and managed to live to see this.  Of course it was a quest item for a quest I didn’t have yet.  I eventually found that quest and he puts a buff on you that keeps the undead at bay.  But hey I got here by myself before that! :)

BC Beta Update

by on Dec.13, 2006, under Beta

Sorry for the lack of posts. Blogger was hassling me again and I hadn’t had time to catch back up. But I had to get in a post today.

Well there was an update yesterday and we got nerfed! Of all the things the Priests need addressed they decide to play with the 3 piece bonus of Trans… They removed the 15% mana regen while casting and replaced it with 20/5 mana. There is a thread already going over what this means, but for most people wearing trans, myself included this is a nerf.

Someone also mentioned the healing Tailoring Specialization patterns were in and they have a set bonus of Allow 5% of your Mana regeneration to continue while casting. The healing on this set is pretty nice 286 for the 3 pieces, no stats though. Has a few sockets you might be able to get something good on it with. The biggest issue is it needs 46 pieces of Primal Mooncloth to make the 3 pieces. That is a 184 days to transmute that much. If I want to make that I’ll have to start day 1. I’m not sure the set is worth 6 months of transmuting though :b

BC Auchenai Crypts

by on Dec.04, 2006, under Beta

I did my first run of Auchenai Crypts today and it was quite interesting. First thing of note it is how you get Lower City faction for Shattrath. It is a chaotic zone all the fights get a little nuts it seems, much like Scholo can get. This boss seen above is one of 2 that is in the instance. He is the first and was quite evil. The one guy who had been here before neglected to mention that he has AOE that stacks up to 5 times that ends up slowing casting 200%. This was insane but some how after regaining my composer I managed to save myself, the tank and 1 of the DPS.

There are some scary pulls in this room as you head to the last guy. There are piles of these non elite skeletons that are occasionally accompanied by a very annoying elite caster. We wiped once in this room because the hunter pulled a the same time as the Druid, two packs is 1 too many :b

We beat the last guy who was much easier than the first one. I liked this zone, it is very short, but crazy which makes it fun. Also a good source for Lower City faction, though I don’t know how useful that faction is yet. I’m not sure what wonderful things drop here but I’m sure there might be a few things I’ll want on one of my characters :)

BC Beta Patch

by on Dec.01, 2006, under Beta

Not much that I’ve seen changed for the Priest in today’s beta patch. They added Tier 4 bonuses and finally a Mana Loom.

The Tier 4 bonuses were not very exciting to me.

Shadow
(2) Set: Your Shadowfiend now has 75 more stamina and lasts 3 sec. longer.
(4) Set: Your Mind Flay and Smite spells deal 5% more damage.

Holy
(2) Set: Your prayer of healing spell now also causes an additional 150 healing over 9 sec.
(4) Set: Each time you cast Flash Heal, your next Greater Heal cast within 15 sec has its casting time reduced by 0.1, stacking up to 5 times.

Of course the most exciting thing is the Banana robe which comes from the Burning Furnace is now a nifty new color! :)

BC Mana Tomb Gone Wrong

by on Nov.19, 2006, under Beta

I guess the last BC patch messed up Mana Tombs. It is unfortunate because it was perfectly fine so you got to wonder how you break something that had no problems with a patch :) As you might can tell by this image, there were quite a few killer cubes in the zone. Cubes are very annoying to fight because it is hard to tell they are attacking you or that you are hitting them. Not to mention we couldn’t crowd control them! Whenever the Mage sheeped a cube, the cube just became a killer sheep. It was quite amusing. Made for an interesting run anyways. May no one ever have to fight a cube come BC’s go live date though!

BC Healers Be Ready

by on Nov.18, 2006, under Beta

All healers be prepared, for in WoW 2.0 coming soon if you let a warlock or hunter pet die you might as well have killed their first born child. It won’t matter what was going on at the time, who you may have saved rather than the pet they will whine. I have found this to be almost universal.

It wouldn’t bother me so much if I had my normal UI but I don’t. I don’t have a pet unit frame with the current one for some reason. So healing them is very annoying. Even more so pets have always taken a very low priority for me, and rarely have I even had anyone ask me to heal them.

I had a very “classy” hunter tell me “That’s because they are fixed dumbass” today in reference to my healing of their pets.

Well that is enough about that rant… I’m only 5% or so to 65 and I have a 140% rest exp I need to use up :)

BC 4 Minute Mage Battle

by on Nov.15, 2006, under Beta

For a change in scenery I decided to do some quests in Nagrand. I didn’t see a whole lot of quests there but I found a few at the Consortium camp.

I was out near Oshu’gun for the first quest I was doing. I don’t know the story behind Oshu’gun yet but I’m sure it is interesting. You can pick up Oshu’gun shards off the ground near it and the mobs drop the Oshu’gun equivalent of darkiron residue.

I had just finished harassing some water elementals and was about to leave I had an interesting battle with a Mage. I had just got on my Ram and was about to ride away when the Mage was riding by, I think he was 64 or 65. He jumped off and frost nova’d me immediately. I dismounted, shielded, and by that point he had sheeped me. He reved up for a big blast and the battle was on. I had one close moment in which pain suppression saved me for once. I wasn’t able to ever do much to him except keep pain and shield on myself which of course was damaging him.

In the end he was out of mana I still had 1/3 of mine and he ran away. He sheeped me one last second to slow me down. I caught him and sheeped me again while he blinked away. I almost got him but he did get away, jumped on his mount and off he went. It made me mad he got away considering he started it however I felt rather vindicated that even if I did not technically win, he wasn’t able to kill me and ran away from me :)

Though the battle didn’t seem that long I managed to cycle through 4 or 5 fears, he counter spelled me a few times, sheeped me a lot and blasted me with frost bolts. He must not have had the water elemental, or it was on cooldown.

So far Nagrand hasn’t been very exciting though. However it is very pretty isn’t it?

BC More Eye Of The Storm

by on Nov.14, 2006, under Beta

So I played a few more games of EOTS as I’m sure it will be abbreviated to. The Horde was out numbered in all my subsequent games so we won of course. I find it amusing that people on the live server are already whining about the BG without even have played it :b I found the smaller map and guarding goal towers to make things more interesting. The flag runs add a little spice to the battles. I’m sure people will be imploring all sorts of new tactics.

On the live boards they are claiming that it is some how imbalanced though I’m not sure how. The map is basically a mirror image with a flag in the middle. People will whine about anything :b

Inian was telling me that you get bonus honor for healing. I was trying to figure it out if thats true. It looks like when I heal someone other than myself, who is in combat that I was getting honor for it. But it is hard to tell when there is so much death and destruction going around >:)

We won this battle and I must say again I like how it gives props to those who healed. I always enjoyed healing in BGs and people always whine that no one heals. Now no one can say I didn’t do it and people might compete for the top healing spot :) I’m sure that is the purpose of them putting this in, and the extra honor to try an encourage healing.

BC Eye of the Storm

by on Nov.14, 2006, under Beta

So after waiting like a half an hour I finally got into a Eye of the Storm BG. You start off in this little shielded floating rock which you have to carefully get off of when the BG starts :b

It was quite rough as the horde had a lot of higher levels than us. I had this pair of 69 Druids that kept mangling me that was most unpleasant.

I ran around a lot which seemed to help my survival. Standing still was asking the Druids to pop me! Of course this made healing hard. Especially with my Perfect Raid mod. I was mainly just friendly tabing and using shield and renew to help out while paining the enemies, or a mind blast if I could get the time.
In the end we lost, but it will be an interesting BG once I get the hang of it. With the holding of the towers it is similar to AB which I like, with a little WSG thrown in for good measure :) I guess thats in case there is a stand off and you can each hold your two towers. The addition of healing to the top scores is neat. I was actually the top healer and I didn’t really try which is odd hehe

BC Allegiance To The Scryers

by on Nov.14, 2006, under Beta

I got on just in time for a server shutdown. Before I logged though I was running around Shattrath and noticed a quest to pledge allegiance to the Aldor or the Scryers. Well I already decided I was going to go with the Scryers of the silly Aldor. This is mainly because they are more caster friendly I think. They have my tailoring spell thread recipes and better shoulder enchants for casters. They also appeared to be very enchanter oriented as they had a full compliment of enchanter trainers on this floor of their building. The only one they were missing was the Grand Master. Hopefully the servers come back soon I was going to see if I couldn’t have a looksee at the new battle ground Eye of the Storm they have plastered on the site.
