Ring Of Fire
by Laneer on Jun.23, 2008, under Gameplay, Questing
Was taking advantage of all the fire festival buffs and doing some questing on Fesster. I think now that Laneer has his pants, and practically nothing left to upgrade I’m going to mess around on Fesster more. So while I was working on some other quests someone in the guild wanted to do the Ring of Fire. I remember the Damage Staff being pretty good and wanted in on that. So we went and did that, we did it so rediculously fast it wasn’t even funny. Inian came along which made things go much faster
I did pretty good damage wise I thought for my level. The festival buff I had gave me an extra 3% crit which was very nice
Epic Aran Fight
by Laneer on Jun.22, 2008, under Gameplay
More on the Epic Aran fight, I happened to be looking at the data from last night and thought I’d share
I noticed the fight was 8 minutes, I thought it felt long but didn’t realize it was that long lol
Geazus totally owns everyone on damage, of course Inian and him were alive the longest of the DPS
Geazus shows off his warlock overpoweredness!
Rathgor was fairly under geared (wearing cloth lol) and was not fully Holy speced to his credit. For the whole instance Azsharia and I were pretty neck and neck on healing of course in this fight I lived longer and regenerated more mana. Though to my credit I was not buffed for healing and was dpsing part of the time
The fact was that Rathgor and Azsharia were not enough though.
Here you can see how much mana we all generated during the fight
You’ll notice the mages up there, able to pot, and use mana gems. Inian said he used all 3 charges during the fight
Of course Geazus had the very nice ability of life tapping. He made very good use of it. When I brought it up this morning he was very defensive about it. I was like I encourage warlocks to lifetap, I don’t care I was just amazed at home much mana he got back during the fight. I was surprised Azsharia was so low, I figured surely he innervated himself because I don’t recall I was ever innervated. In fact I think an Innervate on me at this point will take me from 0 to full lol
Old Raid’s Day
by Laneer on Jun.20, 2008, under Farming, Gameplay
On Friday’s Thalios was starting up this tradition of going up and beating on old instances. I like to call it rep farming myself!
A lot of these people have never been to any of the old world raid instances. Tonight he choose AQ20 and I IM’d Inian and got him to come
It was absolute pure chaos with not much structured playing going on. People accidentally pulled the first boss. In the second boss someone managed to pull several waves of mobs. It was crazyness, but the best part was I got loads and loads of Cenarion Circle Rep.
It was crazy how big the agro range is on all these guys before the big boss. We ended up practically fighting them all at the same time. It was even more insane chaos. I think I died here and that was the only time I remember dying. I was healing so much I just finally got agro lol
After that which we did in like an hour Thalios suggested ZG. Though so many people left they backed out of the idea. Inian and I really wanted to do it though cause he wants his turtle poly. So we went and grabbed the stuff and Result volunteered to tank for us. So off we went and easily went over and summoned and killed him. Of course he didn’t drop the stupid book the bastard. I think we should find a willing tank and try it every week, or whatever the timer is till we get it.
Old raids can really be fun, and I do have the goal of finishing out the reps on them, which were all so close yet so far lol.
Profit!
by Laneer on Jun.20, 2008, under Gameplay
I put up some Greater Eternal Essence last night along with some old Strange Dust, and Greater Magic Essence. Plus I had a really really crapy socket pattern that dropped yesterday, it was the +10 spell penetration. I figured though someone is probably a completest out there so I put it up for a 75g buyout. Well I logged in this morning before I was going to head to work and I was completely surprised all of it sold. I had 283 gold waiting for me in my mailbox. I should have put a higher price on that socket probably!
I’m up to 6141 now, I think thats the most I’ve had in my hands, Woot! I know this is nothing compared to Inian but I just don’t get to as many dailies as he does
UBRS Key
by Laneer on Jun.20, 2008, under Gameplay, Questing
I got on kind of late it would have been cutting it pretty close to bed time to do any heroics. I was doing the fishing daily when Inian got on and he was finishing up his UBRS key. I had wanted to do it too so we decided to go head and finish it out for me too
Why get the UBRS key you ask? Inian and I are sort of completest, old characters from that period. We never got it before and we feel we should have it
Usually when Inian and I are out in the old world we rarely run into anyone, let alone horde. The last thing I was expect when I rounded the corner as I entered BRM was a 70 Rogue and 70 Druid in my face. They of course decided to inconvience me and slaughted me. So doing this run I’ve done so so so many times before was the last thing I expected
We could mostly walk through all the content to get to the bosses. It was only area in which the mobs were really tight that we couldn’t. For inconveniencing us the entire room/area would pay the price
I got a lot of rune cloth this way!
We rounded all the bosses while we were getting the gem pieces for me. So I quickly resupplied my Large Brilliant Shard supply on this run as well. I think actually it was faster to get them from here than Scholo or Strath though I’ve still been after Argent Dawn faction.
After you give him all the gems he wants you to forge the seal by mind controlling this Drake in the marsh lands. Thankfully Inian popped us over to Theramore, and we quickly ran over to him. His cave is over by Onyxia and apparently I had never been in it before because I discovered it when we went in.
You have to weaken him down before you can use the MC orb and the way Inian was critting I kept thinking he was going to kill him. But we got him down and I took control and forged the seal. Then off we went back to IF to fly back over to BRM.
So I turn in the seal and I get this ring that has some resists. I’m like this is a key? Oh goodie another “key” that isn’t a key so it doesn’t go in my keyring
Good bye bank slot! So we go test it out, it is kind of funny as you walk up to the door it automagically opens for you lol But it was the last oldworld key I didn’t have so I feel complete now yay! It can sit in the bank next to my Celebras staff for Maurodon and my Onyxia Pendant and Onyxia Scale Cloak lol
We got a good amount of Ironweb in there as well I plan to convert to Greater Eternal Esence which still sells extremely well
Heroic Mechanar Daily
by Laneer on Jun.17, 2008, under Gameplay
Today’s daily was everyones favorite Heroic Mech. I sat in the LFG system for a while and eventually got picked up. The group was quite odd, everyone seemed very geared, yet we were moving at a snails pace. We had a Mage who was horribly dramatic about sheeping. Giving us warnings before it was going to break, and then huge exclamations when it did. Like he wasn’t able to resheep it or something.
It was kind of amusing though, the Mage must have died 4 or 5 times to the Warlock pulling agro. For some reason the mobs would Instakill the Mage while walking by him to go to the Warlock.
In the end we wiped to the last boss because of that. The Mage down we had little CC, and mobs were hitting me. Through a miracle I managed to save us from the last pack, excpet the tank died. I only had enough time to rez the tank before the boss ran in.
All in all at least I got 6 badges out of the deal
Heroic Shattered Halls Finally
by Laneer on Jun.16, 2008, under Gameplay
Today was my first Father’s Day and it was quite the day. I spent most of it with the family, but through out the day stopped in to WoW to work on my Timbermaw faction while my son was sleeping.
When I first started in the early morning there was no one around except a 56 hunter who was also farming for rep. He told me that but I wasn’t sure how far he was trying to go. Maybe just so he could walk through the tunnel to Winter Springs. It was actually kind of funny because he was “trying” to compete with me, not that he could. It didn’t matter much anyways, once I get started the spawn rate goes way up. As you can see from this photo I was up to my neck in Deadwood!
I think this was my biggest pull yet. Once you have 16 of the little buggers hitting you it can actually start to hurt. Of course one of them will manage to land their stupid curse that reduces healing by 50%.
Lastly I had to share this, my best circle so far. It is so hard to get them to surround you properly for a good circle. Yes I know I’m a weirdo
I ended up farming an entire stack of feathers. I did calculate I need 700 to go from revered to exalted. So far I’m about half way through that right now and am at like 27% through honored. So after I get enough to get through revered I’ll start turning in feathers to finished out honored. I’m going to have to install autoturnin mod again just to avoid getting carpal tunnel when I turn in the feathers lol
Inian was retiring early, he had been doing heroics today and finished getting his new Pants, and got the Robe from Heroic MGT, GRATS! He said something like you should do the double daily, and I thought well lets see whats going on so I joined LFG and noticed someone looking for a Tank and Healer for Heroic Shattered Halls.
I’ve needed to do this instance for many moons. I had the Naru quest, plus the Kara Nightbane quest to finish there. I had never done Heroic SH before either so their was a quest to save some people from the executioner. We had a Paly tank, who was good, and a Mage who wasn’t. He kept dying and complaining, but he would drag agro, not to mention he is horribly fragile. At one point when we were making that run through the hall while they were bombing us and he died, he was like “can’t we run SP, or Ramparts or something”. I wanted to laugh but didn’t want to make him made. I don’t think I paid attempt to how much damage he was doing.
We finished the instance with only one wipe it was the first big pack pull too, the mobs didn’t get LOS’d properly and they ranged us to death. I think we got an extra pack or something too. Anyways completed both my quests, got the and got 5 badges to boot. We started pretty late too, if this was anything other than Heroic Shattered Halls I probably wouldn’t have started it but we went very quickly. Since we didn’t have to do any CC it was easy. It was even fun! I don’t know why everyone hates that instance. Now I need to try Heroic BM, the other thing everyone says is sooooo horrible. Oh I almost forgot to mention I got an epic healing gem for my belt too
Anyways my first father’s day was quite the day. Being a Dad is experience you don’t really understand until you are one. Now if I can just get rid of this damn cold!
100 Days
by Laneer on Jun.15, 2008, under Blizzard, Gameplay
One thing I forgot to mention the last couple of posts is Laneer has now reached 100 days played!
So on this one character anyways I’ve enjoyed 100 days of play time, or wasted depending on who you talk to. A co-worker who is into aviation, looks at those hours and likes to tell me how many planes I could have built. Me I look at it time well relaxed (most of the time) in a hobby I enjoy. I don’t play as many hours as I used to now that I have a kid and other responsibilities. This number definitely went up faster back in the day
Anyways thought I’d share that with everyone. I think 100 days is sort of a milestone for a character. Laneer has been though a lot! With WOTLK coming up soon there are many more adventures to be had!
Quick Kara PUG
by Laneer on Jun.14, 2008, under Gameplay, WoW
I started off this evening chatting with Inian about WOTLK. They had made some updates to the Alpha Wiki since I had last been there. I’m surprised this thing is still up, it must be in a country outside of Blizzards reach. Anyways they have been updating it and there are some facinating things added in.
They now have listings of all the new ranks of the spells like for instance Divine Spirit is going to go from 50 to 80. Thats a big jump considering in BC it only went from 40 to 50. Looks like we are getting pretty much two new ranks of all our spells which is exciting, especially my favorite spells, Renew and Prayer of Mending
Another interesting thing is Inner Fire has learned a new trick! It doesn’t mention it has charges either, but it lists it as a fixed armor increase and also increases healing done. I hope it is just a normal 30 minute fixed duration buff, and with this change that would make it totally awesome!
Dinvine Hymn has more definitive information now, I really hope this makes it to live. It is kind of like AOE CC, which would be great for bad pulls. It’s an instant, that puts a buff on everyone that when a mob hits you the go to sleep for 20 seconds. That would usually give everyone enough time to recover for something.
Anyways after us ooogling over all the WOTLK stuff for a bit Inian was on and saw someone starting a Kara and joined up. I got on and got in as well. They were being very picky about who they took. At first I thought they were just being to nitpicky but in the end I think it worked out better that way. We were all very well geared and knew how to play our classes. We totally cleaned up the whole run taking 3 hours. Mores did drop his Signet of Unshakable Faith for me to hold me over till I maybe get the badge offhand.
The only thing I was hoping for was possibly the Ribbon, though I really like my scarab too
I love warlock fel armor though my renews tick for over 1k and as you can see here Gheal can crit for a mighty sum
We had some major bad luck on Prince though. We had some bad infernals the first try and wiped, luckly I had a soul stone. The second time we downed him so rediculously easy. However the killing blow landed just as an Infernal was falling. It happened to land on his body. So we had to heal everything through looting their badges not knowing how long it would take for the infernal to despawn.
It was a quick run though. Oh and just before I started this run I respeced back into Imp DS. I did a slighty modification of my old build picking up some Empowered Healing, getting rid of SOL since I never wear crit gear anymore and taking improved death for the extra spirit. I think I’ll stick with this build until WOTLK.
PvP’n
by Laneer on Jun.13, 2008, under Gameplay, PvP, Questing
Before I did anything I was playing with Addons. Chronometer stopped working so I have been trying to find something that can replace it. Monitoring multiple renews, and SW:Pain can be difficult with unit bars alone. So far all the ace mods are coming up empty for me. One called Classtimers was pretty good but separated out player, target, focus and something else into different bars. It had an option to have one bar but it didn’t work. Not only that but however my click casting targets people it didn’t see. So if I used the target it worked if I clicked on a party member or raid member it didn’t.
I also went back to using Pitbulls Raid frames. There was just some information in Praid I couldn’t get, even though the interface was cleaner. The other issue is for some reason I kept getting tooltips over the top of them when i was hovering which is very anoying when your trying to see the frames.
After that I didn’t feel like instances, so I had the gnome throw on the ol’ PvP gear and went to AV to complete the BG Daily. I had particular fun right here with a few alliance snagging horde as they tried to run by repeatedly. The first AV I did we won in the usual rush fashion, and I completed my daily. This one I did again and we were with a large premade on the horde side so they prevented the rush. We won in the end though due to reinforcements. Those kind of wins are always funny to me, they take longer but they are more fun to me anyways. Still less time than a WSG usually for a lot more honor.
After that I did a WSG which we actually won. It was a really fun game too. We had a warrior who was doing the flag carrying. I would meet him mid field and follow him to the roof. Then I’d protect him till our guys got the flag back and we could cap. We were pretty effective and actually won in a reasonable amount of time. The first cap took a bit but the other two came easier. The horde fought it all the way though.
I have a bad cold so I was heading off to bed and decided I better do the fishing daily before I leave. I went over to fish and landed the quest fish on the first cast again. I felt like showing that off again even though I did that the other day
