Adventures of a Dwarf Priest

I got on this morning for a short time, was just doing a little goblin rep farming and low and behold, the Hyacinth Macaw drops!  I was floored! I didn’t think I would get it while I was doing this the drop rate on it is so stupid.  After I did that some one came and screwed up my spawns so I ended up doing my random which was HoS.  Went ok, though I thought it was funny the tank with almost a 5400 GS had never been there before and didn’t know where to go lol.  Inien got on and got that random too and he actually wiped on protecting Bran.  Don’t you love PUGS?

Anyways so happy with my parrot, that made my 120th pet too! What an honor!

So I finally get logged in tonight and what do I see, but the Stormwind croc fishing daily!  What did I get even though there is a 70% chance for a croc supposedly, I got rusty metal…  What is up with that!

Anyways after doing that and betting on a pet in the AH I went to get in the random queue and got a group instantly.  Unfortunately my luck for really fast dungeon runs finally ran out and I got HoS.  The tank was great, and we had a Mage that did 46% of the damage.  Between the Pally tank and the Mage they were doing almost 70% of the damage, so you can imagine how stellar the other two dps were   It was a bad rogue, and one of those terrible DK alts everyone has.  I think we were rolling up to the second boss when Snookered was talking about how time consuming it was to solo Heroic Underbog and I told him I’d join him when we were done.

I wanted to join him because Heroic Underbog was all I needed to finish the BC Dungeons achievement.  We finally finished and I join him just as we were coming up onto the 3rd boss.  Of course then I get a call from work that some disaster was happening so I go afk and try to figure it out and eventually come back to help while he is killing the 3rd boss.  Not long after that we get to the final boss, I get held in the air almost the whole time but I have enough stuff to smack him with + my dots that we got him down pretty damn fast.  Then I got my achievements!

So as far as the title of this post is concerned, the sad part was I just realized it was my first Achievement of the year   Almost two weeks exactly into 2010!  I should do some achievement runs this weekend too.  What I really need to finish is my loremaster, and of course get in some damn raiding!

I got on this evening and attempted to work on the Love is in the Air achievements.  My first barrier I ran into on that was the constant tells from everyone who remotely knew me to come do some version of Naxx with them.  I continued to run around to the different capital cities doing some of the activities.  I was just about to say screw it to the whole thing when I hit a string of the more rare achievements.    I have ended up with the black dress, the Picknick Basket, and the Truesilver Shafted Arrow (the flying goblin pet).   I thought well now I got all the hard ones I need to do the other ones now

I had checked the Heroic Daily while I was doing the cooking daily and noticed it was HoS.  I had been in the LFG for it while I was doing the holiday work.  Eventually I got a tell from someone and annoyed with the holiday stuff joined them.  He apparently had carefully crafted our group, as he was after some of the HoS achievements.  He had more achievement points than I had ever seen at just over 6200.   I can’t remember his name off the top of my head I’ll have to look it up in Karma.  Anyways we managed 2 of the tree HoS achievements one of which I hadn’t got.  The one on the last guy is really hard time time with the Oozes.  The bigger part of destiny again was the Rose dropped and yes I won it

So I did a lot of standing in front of people again following the stupid hearts, trying to manage the stupid number of things in my inventory to make all the crap.  Again I did this till I was about crazy and then put myself up for a 10 man OS. I was invited into one after a little bit.  The guy kind of annoyed me because after he invited me he told me that he was going to armory me and make sure I was good enough.  We did it easy enough as usual they bring too many healers 2 is enough everyone always brings 3   Oh and on this run I won the Majestic Dragon Figurine to replace my Spark of Life.  I didn’t really need the extra spell haste I have so much and it seemed given the randomness of the Spark that it would give me more mana regen.  When we were done they tried to get me to go to Naxx.  I went back to my achievements.

By the end of the evening I was close to done with all of them.  I even managed to get one of the Bag of Candies and got 5 of the 10 names you need.  I went all over to Pity the fool as seen here in this shot.  I heard a tank I’ve grouped with quite a bit starting up a 25 man Vault and joined up for that for another break.

While I was in Wintersgrasp I went by and got my Mammoth I kept forgetting to get with my shards.  I had more than plenty and you even get an achievement for it which I didn’t realize   We finished up the Vault which dropped all plate and mail gear as easily as usual and I finished up for the night.

I logged with having completed every achievement of the holiday except the ridiculous candy.  I intend to log in tomorrow every hour to at least try for it then while I’m doing my house work.

My wife and son went out of town today so I came home from the airport with a good half a day on my hands.  I took some time off work to go with my free time so I will be getting a lot done around the house, and some fun in WoW   Also part of my goal this week through the weekend is to avoid all news, so much bad news I need a break!

When I got home I got on and was doing some questing while LFG for HoL.  I had both dailies and it turned out to be the heroic daily again anyways.  I got a good group and we did it really fast, probably as fast as I’ve ever done it.  No wipes, the hunter did die from the exploding rocks, not much I could do he didn’t get out of the way fast enough lol

After that we all hearthed but no one dropped group.  I was like man that went so well and so fast we should have done HoS.  So everyone agreed and we went back and did that one as well.  No one died, no wipe!  During that fight I asked if anyone wanted to do anything else after as again it went fast.  The tank wanted to do Old Kingdoms so we went off and did that one.   The warlock with us had to go though so we needed a new DPS.  The warlock was a great guy, but not that great of DPS, though I haven’t seen one in WOTLK yet, I think they broke warlocks.  So the tank grabs a ret pally.  Sure enough he probably found the most annoying, bad ret pally ever   The silly ret pally spoiled my good no deaths records by constantly getting himself killed.

After that we decided since we were there we might as well do AN as well.   I encouraged the tank to accidentally replace the ret pally but he didn’t want to be mean.We had our first wipe on the the first boss (no one unwebed me).  We had our second wipe on the last boss, the pally and DPS Warrior (who was very good) both died to Pound.  Since the DPS warrior was most of our DPS we lost in the end.  We got him the next time around though.  It was a good 4 instance run though.  What was worse in the end was the ret pally said he was adding all of us to his friends list!  I totally teased the tank for exposing us to him

After I finished that I went to eat dinner and came back to finish the last of my quests in Grizzly hills.  I really enjoyed all the quests relating to the Dwarves.  It prepares you to hate loken and such as well seen here talking crap.

I tried to get a few more instances to finish off argent crusade rep.  I managed to get a Violet Hold group and that was well and fast.  We were going to do something else after but the tank backed out at the last second and we broke up for the evening.

So to finish off my Argent Crusade I went ahead and did some questing in Zul’Drak.  I finished off the quest helping this giant and it was soooo awesome.  You get to ride him and smash a lot of scourge and stuff.  It completely rocked!  I also helped Inien to that 3 person quest where you kill the stupid really mean walrus guy.

I was in a mischievous mood when we did it.  A hunter grabbed him just before me because Inien had to get an herb.  It was just the hunter so I knew he would die, it took him a while though I was impressed, his pet could heal himself and he was healing it too.  There was a group of horde watching him fail too and I knew we both were going to try and snag it.  So just when his pet died I threw pain on it.  After the hunter died it was mine! >:)  Of course that was kind of mean but he took it from me, and I didn’t want to wait for it to respawn and fight the horde over it

Was a good night though, lots of achievements and rep to be had.  I’m not working on Ebon Blade my last talbard rep.

I got onto Laneir today to do my inscription research first.  I ended up with some level 40 recall scrolls.  I like using them to see where you end up.  This time it was gadget.  This is the second time that happened   It always seems to go back to the old world.

So I jumped on with Laneer thinking Inien and I would do a Heroic HoL since we both had the 2 dailies for it.  Only for some reason no one wanted to do it.  After a while I thought how about HoS but all that was left by that time was one silly group that had been dying for a healer.  I went with this group and Inien went to a Heroic Violet Hold.

My Tank was a Paladin, who I later find out just hit level 80 and was wearing level 70 gear mostly. I thought he felt squishy!  The only thing that made this instance really successful was one having me as the healer, and two the DK we had that did 3200-3600DPS.  We had two rogues with us one which went afk before the first boss and we tried to kick out but couldn’t get rid of and eventually reinvited.  Neither rougue could out DPS the Prot pally in level 70 gear :\

This Pally, despite being under geared for a heroic, was quite insane and just ran around pulling like a mad man.  Not only that but this “prot” pally didn’t have Kings!  He said there wasn’t enough points   I looked and he put enough points into Ret to have the run speed buff??  We never wipped or anything despite all these things till the last boss when no one listened to me about moving out of the Lightning.  The second time we defeated him and he dropped the silly rogue dagger   Hey couldn’t have dropped the Spell Power Trinket when I was the only caster in the group!

After that horrible fun I went back to Icecrown so I could open up the Ebonblade Rep vendor.  Here you see me killing the big eye ala LOTR

Here I am finishing off the quest chain defeating the general.  All these scourge you freed come in and help you thank goodness.  I was a little worried when he was elite and popped out!  I’ve still got 50% of the Argent Crusade to finish but I’m all set for the next one now.

I ran out to do my Moonshroud before bed.  I really got to start farming Eternal fire so I can make the spellweave too. I want to be able to make my replacements for my 3 enchanting bags!

I continued to do my Grizzly Hills questing this evening.  I was most impressed but some of the chains.  I especially enjoyed all the Dwarf related ones   I love the horses that run around in this one area of Grizzly, I thought it was funny though they were in formation here.

Inien was sort of in the area doing his questing in Zuldrak and stopped by to help me with a group quest I had in this island.  It was the end of a chain involving the Worg.  You go to the top of the tower eventually and find yourself fighting the shade of that guy in shadow fang   I manged to get the Grizzly achievement for quests though I do still have a few left around there to finish.

It was getting kind of late but that nice Druid I grouped with yesterday wanted to know if I wanted to go to HoS.  I knew Inien was still really wanting to go for his Elder (and the trinket) so I told her sure if I could bring him.  Apparently she had to make room for Inien, but hey better someone you know over someone you don’t

Everything went pretty smoothly, everyone managed to stay away from me on the first boss and I didn’t die.  On the last boss we one shotted him.  So this is where the title of this post comes in.  We had so much trouble with this guy yesterday, but today simple, we didn’t even have hunter resists.  Why you ask?  Well apparently I didn’t hear, or Inien didn’t tell me to have the tank step back when he did his lightning thing.  That was the only thing we did differently because Inien mentioned it to the Paly tank we had this time.  This tank was even a bit less geared than the one from yesterday so there you go.  HoS is definitely easy like I thought I remembered it

I started off this tonight with a bit of questing in the grizzly hills.  I need to finish up there so I can move on to another!  I was in LFG looking for one of the dungeons my remaining elders are in.

So I get a tell invited to a Nexus run, we ended up with a Pally Tank, Boomkin, Hunter, and a fairly new but decent DK.  Based on his guild rank “alt” I’d say he was an alt, and a recent 80   He kept just about the tank in DPS, and the tank was well geared so I was pleased   I managed not to take a screenshot during the Nexus run but it went smoothly.  They even managed to get achievement though I could have swore the hunter never moved.  The hunter was our best DPS most of the time when the Boomkin right behind him her.

After that everyone was so pleased with how smooth it went, and how fast we did it we decided to do something else.  Having got my elder from the Nexus now I suggested Azjol-Nerub next.  So we all agreed and headed there.  There was much talk about how hard the first boss is, and the second boss, and the last boss, but everything went easy.  Apparently none of them have done it with a good group.  Up to this point we have had no wipes, or even deaths.

After that everyone wanted to do another instance.  I was shooting for Drak or HoS for another elder, but the Boomkin really wanted to do HoL.  It was the Heroic Daily, and I happen to have the regular daily for it as well.  Eventually I agreed and we went there.  When we got to the first boss I asked if anyone needed the achievement, the tank was really scared about trying it I told him he would be fine, and the Boomkin really wanted a go at it.  Of course I had no problem with it, I knew he was a good enough tank and we downed him and everyone got the achievement.

We had our first wipe through the elementals that explode.  I was sitting there saying don’t kill them all at once, I went up the stairs and some how managed to agro the elementals at the top.  We wiped of course, was all my fault and I don’t count that wipe technically They were all dreading Loken, of course I don’t anymore now that I can heal through the damage.  He is easy if you can just stand and DPS him.  It was even easier to do with the hunters nature resists.  I told them they would get the achievement and they all did of course.  It was so cake with the nature resist not even close

After that we decided to do HoS.  The boomkin was off geming some of the stuff he she got in the other runs and I was running around gathering the mats to build my Flying Carpet!  I made it just before the summoned me and learned it when I was by the stone.  I flew around on it a bit before going in and it is nifty.  I didn’t realize that they made it a real mount in 3.08 I thought that had to wait for 3.1!  I some how didn’t get a shot of me on it though, soon!

I haven’t done HoS much, I think only once on regular and once on Heroic.  I was on Skype with Inien and he has done it lots so I was getting info from him.  We went up the mining side first and managed to meet the elder quickly.  When we got to the boss over here it went sort of ok but at the very end I got shattered and died, the Hunter died as well.  The boomkin picked up healing and they managed to finish him off though!

She was no problem at all of course but the fight is funny because she is rather insulting through out the whole fight

We wiped on the first attempt of the archive, but the second attempt not only did we succeed, but we go the achievement!  With both the DK and Pally grabbing the mobs none got through.  I really like the lore that comes out in this fight.  I managed to get some new shoulders finally here too!  I can’t recall but I think the CoS ones were better but these were still nice.  I need to get in with the giants though so I can have shoulder enchants.

So up to this point we had only 3 wipes, 1 my fault entirely, and 2 deaths (1 mine) which is amazing   These people were not over geared, we were not doing amazing DPS but they knew their classes.  We started the end boss though of this instance and we did have some issues with him.  I dislike this fight so much now!  We got him down on the third try though, basically I realized looking at the combat log it was all nature damage, and had the hunter use his nature resists.  Then the  fight went easy to the end when I lost everyone but the hunter and I but my dots finished him off.  He didn’t drop exactly the trinket I wanted but he did drop the Spark of Life which both me and the Boomkin rolled on.  I figured it might come in handy.

So I managed to do 4 instances, both instance dailies, get a new trinket and shoulders, and make my Flying Carpet.  Yes I would call this a good night!
