Adventures of a Dwarf Priest

I was on Deathwing for a bit just to do some of the excting mini game, and get some stuff up on the AH I had made yesterday.  I noticed because of the lack of people on the server enchanting supplies pricing is skyrocketing.  Shard prices were really up.  So I had made a bunch of shards from a mass quantity of Netherweave I happen to still have.  I was selling shards for 28g 28s 28c   I always put my prices with the same values like that   It all sold by the time I logged out for the evening I had like 7300g or so.

I was kind of annoyed because I only stayed on Deathwing because Thalios was talking about doing ZA.  So I played with my son till it was about his bed time and by that time they had a group then I find out they changed to Kara.  They couldn’t get enough geared people to go to ZA.  I wasn’t all that interested in Kara, but I went anways because I didn’t want to leave them hanging.

Kara is just so boring now because it is no challenge.  I kept trying to get them to let me solo heal it, then it might be interesting.  I did manage to pickup the wrists Bands of Indwelling.  They have a little more spirit, and int than my badge ones.  They also have more stamina which I have been trying to increase.  There was a total net loss of 20 healing which isn’t going to kill me, especially when I’m gaining HP, Mana, In and out of combat mana regeneration.  At first I didn’t think I was going to loose anything until I realized Ratingbuster doesn’t include enchants on the items in the totals it displays.   OOops!   Originally I was using my old wrists as both DPS and Healing as they had tons of Crit on them.   Since I’m not so concerned about that anymore the new wrists were a better deal.

We only went as far as curator.  If I get on in time I might finish out for the badges, otherwise I’ll go play Mooku

More on the Epic Aran fight, I happened to be looking at the data from last night and thought I’d share   I noticed the fight was 8 minutes, I thought it felt long but didn’t realize it was that long lol

Geazus totally owns everyone on damage, of course Inian and him were alive the longest of the DPS   Geazus shows off his warlock overpoweredness!

Rathgor was fairly under geared (wearing cloth lol) and was not fully Holy speced to his credit.  For the whole instance Azsharia and I were pretty neck and neck on healing of course in this fight I lived longer and regenerated more mana.  Though to my credit I was not buffed for healing and was dpsing part of the time   The fact was that Rathgor and Azsharia were not enough though.

Here you can see how much mana we all generated during the fight   You’ll notice the mages up there, able to pot, and use mana gems.  Inian said he used all 3 charges during the fight   Of course Geazus had the very nice ability of life tapping.  He made very good use of it.  When I brought it up this morning he was very defensive about it.  I was like I encourage warlocks to lifetap, I don’t care I was just amazed at home much mana he got back during the fight.  I was surprised Azsharia was so low, I figured surely he innervated himself because I don’t recall I was ever innervated.  In fact I think an Innervate on me at this point will take me from 0 to full lol

When I got on the guild had just got done putting together 2 Kara groups.  There was only 17 people on so they pulled in some PUG to do it.  I was very annoyed I missed it because I only needed 12 more badges to get my pants!  Who likes a pantless Dwarf   So I kept looking, and there was nothing.  So I joined a AV, I had the daily and just as we were about to win I got tells from tons of people.  Both the guild Kara’s lost one of the PUG members and needed someone, someone wanted to do the event boss, and someone wanted me for ZA.

I ended up choosing to go with the guild Kara figuring I’d get the most badges that way.  I was trying to wait to see if we would win that AV.  The stupid horde were in Dreks room causing trouble and I laughed becaues a rogue sapped me in the middle of the room and then I took the summon and popped in Kara sapped hehe

They had only done the first boss so I didn’t miss much badges.  I was kind of sad because the Healing Ribbon trinket from Opera dropped and 2 other people rolled against me and I lost it to Azsharia the restro druid.  At least it was a guildie.

We were carving our way over to the curator and I stopped for a rest.  I felt very regal here in this chair.

I also got a chance to complete the big Kara chain and kill Nightbane.  Even if it was the longest Nightbane fight ever.  It was quite rediculous how long it took I didn’t think I was going to make it through it.   We had quite a few badly geared people it was hard to keep them alive through the skeleton guys, and we were of course short on DPS.  Me being there didn’t help on DPS, technically there were 3 healers, though the Paladin didn’t matter much.  I was going to use this gem in my robe but I think I’ll just stick it in my pants.

The high point of the night was Aran.  We wiped on him the first try then went in for the second time.  By the time the elementals were summoned we had lost everyone except Me, Azsharia, Inian and Geazus.  It was taking so long Azsharia and I were both out of mana, I was doing everything in my power to keep mana.  Potting as soon as I could, popping the Bangle, using Spooky, thankfully I have uber regen.  I didn’t even have all my healing buffs because I was kind of buffed for dpsing.

Eventually I loose Azsharia and it is me, Inian and Geazus.  Azsharia doesn’t have the regen I do so he couldn’t heal much anyways.  So Aran does his sheeping thing (can’t remember if Azsharia is alive at this point) and then basically it is a constant battle with mana to keep Inian and Geazus alive.  They were our top DPS and I knew if i could keep us alive we would win.  Well it took us a while to take down that last 30% or so but we did it.  So everyone pretty much watch in amazement as we managed to finish the boss off.  It was a pretty epic battle and I felt pretty good after such an amazing victory

Of course I would have preferred an easy victory but this was still fun   That boss also made exactly 100 badges for me which meant new pants!  More Regen, More Stamina, more healing all coming my way   So before bed I ran and grabbed them and also made some golden spell thread for them.  Woot!  There are only a few more badge things I think are upgrades.  I think with the amount of int and spirit I have now the Slippers of Dutiful Mending are an upgrade, oh and the old offhand the Voodoo Shaker.

I started off this evening chatting with Inian about WOTLK.  They had made some updates to the Alpha Wiki since I had last been there.  I’m surprised this thing is still up, it must be in a country outside of Blizzards reach.    Anyways they have been updating it and there are some facinating things added in.

They now have listings of all the new ranks of the spells like for instance Divine Spirit is going to go from 50 to 80.  Thats a big jump considering in BC it only went from 40 to 50.  Looks like we are getting pretty much two new ranks of all our spells which is exciting, especially my favorite spells, Renew and Prayer of Mending

Another interesting thing is Inner Fire has learned a new trick!  It doesn’t mention it has charges either, but it lists it as a fixed armor increase and also increases healing done.  I hope it is just a normal 30 minute fixed duration buff, and with this change that would make it totally awesome!

Dinvine Hymn has more definitive information now, I really hope this makes it to live.  It is kind of like AOE CC, which would be great for bad pulls.  It’s an instant, that puts a buff on everyone that when a mob hits you the go to sleep for 20 seconds.  That would usually give everyone enough time to recover for something.

Anyways after us ooogling over all the WOTLK stuff for a bit Inian was on and saw someone starting a Kara and joined up.  I got on and got in as well.  They were being very picky about who they took.  At first I thought they were just being to nitpicky but in the end I think it worked out better that way.  We were all very well geared and knew how to play our classes.  We totally cleaned up the whole run taking 3 hours. Mores did drop his Signet of Unshakable Faith for me to hold me over till I maybe get the badge offhand.

The only thing I was hoping for was possibly the Ribbon, though I really like my scarab too   I love warlock fel armor though my renews tick for over 1k and as you can see here Gheal can crit for a mighty sum

We had some major bad luck on Prince though.  We had some bad infernals the first try and wiped, luckly I had a soul stone.  The second time we downed him so rediculously easy.  However the killing blow landed just as an Infernal was falling.  It happened to land on his body.  So we had to heal everything through looting their badges not knowing how long it would take for the infernal to despawn.

It was a quick run though.  Oh and just before I started this run I respeced back into Imp DS.  I did a slighty modification of my old build picking up some Empowered Healing, getting rid of SOL since I never wear crit gear anymore and taking improved death for the extra spirit.  I think I’ll stick with this build until WOTLK.

I did my dailies today and was going to play with Fesster when Thailos gets on and wanted to try to get the failed Kara2 started again.  They needed healers so Thailos could tank and since Inian was going I thought I might as well go and get some badges and help out.

It was a little late and I wasn’t sure how long I would last but we didn’t do half bad.  Thailos made a few bad pulls that wiped us in the begining and his odd insistance that I have Blessing of Wisdom caused me some troubles.  I died ALOT, I mean way way more than I would normally.  Partially this is because there were only 2 healers, and i was doing more of it so when agro was lost I got it.  And well that kept happening and I managed to destroy almost all my gear to 0 plus a little more.

See my thing is the least mobs know about me the better.  Generally I like Salvation during normal pulls and Kings during bosses.  When Thailos gave me Wisdom I said Salvation or Kings please and he said “what am I dps?” Salvation is just as important for a healer, the same reasons DPS want it to stay off the radar.  And well with the new regeneration model and the way I play I like kings, out of combat regen is increased by over 50/mana 5 over what Wisdom gives.

We had a few clutch wins like this on where nearly everyone died at the end.

By the time we decided to call it a night I had got 9 badges which put me at my 150 I had been shooting for.  Though now I’m strongly thinking I want to get the Robe and Pants instead first which means I need 50 more badges

Before logging I took the 60 arcane dust and tons of netherweave bolts I had on me to make 3 Arcanoweave Bracers to disenchant into shards.  This is my lastest pass time to do with the stuff we get from the dailies.  Inian has been piling the stuff on me recently.  I think I have like 47 Primsmatic shards now.

Ok going to try to get back into the swing again here.  I’ve been neglecting the site lately!  I had the Flu two weeks ago and was out for the count for a week.  I did play a little during the day, I hope to back update on some of the stuff that happened.  Then the next week I was recovering still and catching up and work and didn’t play a lot cause I was tired.

So here we are 5 days into 2.4.  I’ve been diligently doing my part on our server and Deathwing is doing pretty good.  We were about 25% done with Phase 2 when I finished my dailies this afternoon.  I got them done early because I thought I might sneak on in time for Kara. Of course I didn’t quite make it.

So I went on Fesster and worked on his mining/engineer and his Dread Steed.  Eventually they needed me and I joined up just before curator.  Surprisingly enough I’ve never took any screenshots all day long   Besides getting badly needed badges I am still 13 short of my mace   I also picked up FINALLY an upgrade for my Band of Unanswered Prayers, I got Illhoofs Mender’s Heart-Ring! Quite amazing, healing drops on a guild run!  It was an unusual Kara run because when I joined we got rid of the second tank and did the rest of the instance DPS heavy.  Things went down so fast it was hilarious.  Inian was there for the whole run and got some good loots too! (GRATS!)  Several things I would have loved to roll on but didn’t

Anyways I won’t neglect the site anymore   I updated my mods section a little with some changes.  Still need to put in the details on everything though.  Mods are still a bit screwy since 2.4 came out due to some major changes like the combat log.  I really miss Parrot!

I started off by pursuing some more honor for now my S1 gloves during baby naps.  I’ve got 305 resilience now and am totally loving it. Now Blizzard just needs to make it easier for me to carry all this gear around with me like I do

Got on later by and Inian was trying a Kara PUG.  This was a TRUE Kara PUG as it wasn’t run by a major guild, nor did it have any major guilds involved it let alone well geared people   We didn’t do quite as bad as I expected though.  It was slow, very slow but I was getting rep anyways   We managed to kill 2 bosses, however Moroes was quite an issue for everyone.  When we got to the Maiden lady it was too much for our tank.  No mater how full the tank was when we got repentance, even if I had renew on him and POM bouncing around he was not alive long enough for even a flash heal when we got out of it.  He just wasn’t geared quite well enough.  Then the offtank which was even worse was toasted quickly enough not that he even had agro right off the bat anyways.

Was an interesting experience.  It is obvious that Kara is easy enough to be PUG’d but if you are not geared well enough then it doesn’t matter.  The paladin and group leader eyeluvu (yes that was his name) was a member of the Knights of Nee you know that guild that exists on every server I had around 800 or so more healing than him but he stayed just ahead of me on effective heal meters.  Just goes to show you Pallies are OP!    Of course I’m not speced to heal and could out damage him 100 times over even in my healing gear lol.

I stopped in assuming I’d probably do some PvP after at least my cooking daily when Darwin sends me a tell wanting me to replace him in Kara.  I think sure why not I can use badges.  They were on Prince and were going to do Netherspite after.

Well we wiped the first time I got there but got him on the second try.  We were doing some different positioning than previous battles. Thailos had me healing and DPSing so I tossed up a Blinding Light flask for fun   In my healing gear buffed I had 833 holy damage and 1933 healing!  Anyways after we defeated him everyone had to go so we didn’t do Netherspite.  Prince did drop Thya’s bow she has been waiting to drop for many moons, so grats Thya!  I would love the healing mace, or the damage dagger, or the crit neck he drops   Well those and the T4 helm looks pretty nice

As I was flying out to do my cooking daily I happened to notice in my PvP gear me and my mount match each other quite well   After the cooking daily I tried to do that PvP daily.  However the server was lagged to hell and the AB was quite painful.  In the end we lost too but it was a fairly good fight if not for the lag.  I gave up though, I’ll try some more pvp later in the week I guess

I was going to do some PvP when I heard someone shouting looking for 1 more DPS for kara.  So I always miss guild kara and I wondered how these PUG karas went.  So I put myself in LFG and just tagged myself as healing and DPS.  Well it turned out this was a few NE folks.  2 were former FESTers, Ceph and Warf and one guy I didn’t know.  He was apparently holy and went and respeced Shadow and told me to heal instead.  He is probably one of those doubters about my dps.  I could have out dps him anyways that is for sure.

This run was long long long. It started yesterday and ran into this morning.  I stayed though because I wanted the faction and badges.  There is actually very little in Kara I actually want.  For instance here at Nightbane I was hoping for his offhand but alas it didn’t drop.

On the way back from a wipe and repair I was laughing because buffless with my healing gear my renew ticks for 666.  I was chatting with Ceph about it cause I remember back in the AQ days Jotex was teasing me about being impressed if my renew ticked for 666.  I think I had a 666 over heal and said something about it which started the conversation

Also with my consumables and fully raid buffed I got to 2k healing woot!  With the silly shaman we replaced our abandoned healer (more on that in a moment) with I had even more!

Oh and I was so pissed I must have had that stupid the object is busy error when I went to loot my prince badges and I missed them.  We went and did Netherspite and i realized as we were waiting to start I didn’t get them.  Which made me even more mad since he drops 3   So after we killed Netherspite (very slowly I might add) I went back and the Prince hadn’t dissolved yet!  I was able to get my badges after all woot!

The funniest thing about the whole run was the Priest Atrapos.  We still had 3 or 4 bosses left and he had died 12 times, I had died 3 times, exactly the number of times the raid wiped.  The NE shadow priest died more than me but no one died as much as Atrapos did except the mage was coming close.  He refused to control his agro until he had like 6 or 7 deaths and someone said something about maybe controling his agro he said he doesn’t like to be sitting idle.  Well he suddenly started though and stopped dieing.

So anyways  I knew from Cowtips he had 41 points in Holy and he used COH.  He also healed like he was a paladin he had so much over healing it was not even funny.  Anyways I look him up in the armory while we were waiting for something and I see it has him listed 3 times in 3 different guilds(Militia,Priory of Sion,FOLD) so he apparently moves around a lot   I noticed he had only 2 points in Silent Resolve and 3 points in Improved Power Word Shield.   I made a simple suggestion to him since he kept dying that maybe he should move those 3 points into silent resolve that through my own testing its a talent I can’t live without.

He eventually responded to me and told me that he never has problem with his guild (wonder which one he was talking about) and that he needs his stronger bubble!  So this morning I loaded his Armory profile into the Priest Healing calculator and turned off the 3 points in improved PW:Shield and basically his bubble would be 261HP smaller without those 3 points. So 12% less threat or a 261HP larger shield?  Hmmm Thats such a HUGE decision.  Not!  It is clear to me, and most of the Priest community that Improved PW:Shield isn’t worth the 3 points!  Once the reduced the weakened effect to 15 seconds for everyone I’ve never taken that talent again.

So anyways I think it was when we did Illhoof who did not drop my lighting capacitor after the boss finished the shadow priest rolled against him on some healing item and he was pissed that he was rolling on damage and healing gear and he left the raid.  Didn’t phase anyone we just found the restro shammy and continued on.

So that was my adventure in my first Kara PUG.  Will I do it again? Good question!

I got invited to Karazhan because someone wanted to leave though it we only ended up doing one boss before everyone had to leave I was thankful to pickup the rep and the 2 badges

I also managed to get in a nice quick BM run before bed.  This got me within 500 rep of exalted with the dragons!  Everyone but the guy who was doing 45% of the DPS wanted to do another run but I didn’t want to wait for another person and chance they couldn’t do what the Shaman was doing So I called it a night!
