A Nostalgic Day
by Laneer on Nov.21, 2009, under Group, Questing, Raid
Was looking for an interesting raid to do but not much was happening this morning when I got on. So I did some dailies experimenting with Shadow again. I had been thinking about giving it another shot and decided to go for it. Eventually I got a tell asking if I would heal a OS10 1 drake up. I hadn’t been in OS for a while so I figured what the heck.
That turned out to be a rather large waste of time though. When we finally got 10 people together, they were mostly terrible. 3 of the DPS did 80% of the damage, and we had a DK that was doing 600dps. I would think using auto attack would get more than 600dps! It was clear we could not do 1 drake up. Makes matter worse the raid leader was trying to leave the hardest one up! Finally we convinced them to leave the easiest one up, but what we really wanted was to not even try. We tried, and failed rather quickly. It turned out half the raid had never even done OS10 before on those characters at least
Later in the evening I teamed up with my buddies from the Texas Mercenaries to run some old BC heroics for achievements. It was a very enjoyable time, and quite nostalgic. Perfect to be doing on the 5th anniversary of WoW. During the conversations they mentioned they were having issues with their new priest being flaky and that if I was available they wanted me to raid with them again. I got to thinking at that point that I should probably just move Laneer into Texas Mercenaries. I never raid with the Shadows, they do so when I can’t play unfortunately. I haven’t done it yet but I wanted to make sure the shadows GL knew why I moved Laneer and didn’t abruptly do it without explanation.
Looking forward to doing the Pilgrim event and getting my Turkey pet hopefully!
Relaxing Day of WoW
by Laneer on Aug.29, 2009, under Achievements, Group, Questing, Raid
I had a nice relaxing day in WoW today, aside from the nagging headache I had all day. I started of the day with making my cloth. I hadn’t been keeping up with this and I do still need to make one more bank bag
I had to buy some more supplies on the AH and I was surprised to find NO eternal life on the AH. Thankfully I still had 2 left but that is all. Going to have to go get my own with Lanier I guess.
I ended up doing some Argent Tournament stuff while waiting in the queue for the heroic daily. I ended up getting a group pretty quick for the Nexus. It was a pro group and we tore through the instance in 30 minutes flat. The tank was relieved apparently had a 800dps Ret pally in his last group.
After that I went back to finishing my argent tournament quests. I was doing all the new ones but ran into one that didn’t work. You were suppose to summon this guy at a spot on the island and that spot didn’t work for me. Then I abandoned it to get it again and it wasn’t there anymore so I dunno if they took it out or what.
Little bit later in the day I ended up doing an OS10. I was trying to get some quick badges with the fast raids. The OS runs are fast and easy. This one was even nicer because I got a raid achievement out of it
After I finished this I put myself back into some raid runs and ended up in a 25 man Vault. That went super fast and I went on back to my questing.
I got back to doing my questing in storm peaks and there was some really good ones. I didn’t know I was missing out on a bunch of Bran related stuff. I love Dwarf quests and lore
I still think Dwarves are the best race!
The quests I did yesterday were very exciting and I still have some to do. I even found out in the process there was a faction I hadn’t seen yet, the Frostborn. This is another crazy faction you can only raise with a single daily. This daily is even more time consuming than the explorers league one. Why is Blizzard so evil for us faction collectors?
Anyways I got a fair amount of questing done. Still have plenty to do in Storm Peaks though.
Less Is More
by Laneer on Jul.03, 2009, under Achievements, Questing, Raid
I got on a little earlier today and finished out my gnome faction in the Argent Tournament. Now all I need to do is take care of the Night Elves, and the Dreanei. I’m still only 30% through revered on their faction so I have a ways to go on that one.
When I got back on this evening the guild was putting together a 10man OS. We ended up going with 7 to do the Less is more achivement. It went pretty well, only a few accidental deaths which I’ll take full blame for. Got the achivement though and no wipes or anything bad like that
Before I logged for the evening I finally remembered to get go get an Egg. I haven’t had one in a while, though it isn’t like I’m missing anything. I can’t recall how man eggs I’ve hatched now but I would say 80% of them were yolk.
I hope everyone has a Happy 4th of July tomorrow!
Ooops

Right when I logged in I threw myself in the 25man OS LFG and got an immediate invite for a raid that just wanted one more healer. Why I don’t know they always take way too many healers to OS. We tried one drake up and to my disappointment we didn’t get to do it. One of the guys I knew was in the raid and he was telling me our DPS was just too low. After we killed Sarth he dropped a staff I had never seen him drop before. It was the Staff of Restraint, and I was currently using Damnation. Now I haven’t made many big mistakes on loot in my life, but I rolled on the staff because when I hovered over it I read rating buster shows a small loss in HP and crit, but a gain in mana and regen, I read the regen number wrong though. I thought it said 20, when in fact it was 2 :\ I didn’t notice this till much later in the evening, after I enchanted the thing too. Funny thing was, under the old regen model it probably would have been that much of a difference. I was the only roller, but an offspec might have been able to use it. Just so I feel better I’ll assume no one wanted it
I’d say they are pretty close to even, but to be honest the Staff of Restraint looks more priestly, less evil
Oh well you live and learn
After that I did my fire dailies, I almost have enough for the braizer now. I also watched some horde make a run at our fire.
Then I talked a few guildies in going and doing Ahune. It was just 3 of us, so we got 4 attempts but no pet of course. Curse him!
Lil’ Game Hunter!
by Laneer on Jun.17, 2009, under Achievements, Questing, Raid
I got on and started doing some tournament stuff and quickly ended up in a Heroic OS. Just for fun I dropped a fish feast as I will often do in a 25 man and threw an elder moon stone over it to draw attention. Everyone quickly ran over and started eating. I’m actually amazed by the number of people that don’t use food buffs
On this run I didn’t use any flasks/elixirs but thanks to raid buffs, totems and my cloak procing I was routinely seeing myself with over 2600 spell power which was kind of fun. They had way too many healers on the run as usual, most of the healing was done by me and a Shaman and the rest was spread between several druids. It went as easy as pie anyways. The only thing I want from OS is badges anyways
Just as I was finishing up the OS Inien was getting into a 10 man vault and wanted to know if I wanted in. I ended up joining right after trying to win the satchel. We managed to go in and do pretty well on emalon but wiped the first time at the very end no less. We got him the second time though and some mage/priest/warlock PvP boots dropped and I won them.
After that I did some Argent Tournament quests with Inien. After we finished up I noticed, hey I have over 7k gold again, time to go spend some. So I went to the AH to pursue my in game collection habit. Yes I purchased me the firefly. I always loved this pet but again I don’t have time to farm for these pets and saw it up for 1500G which was the cheapest I’ve ever seen this one. Usually it sits in the range of 2-3k and you don’t see it around that often even on Doomhammer.
I also happened to notice they had the Dark Whelpling for 700G so I bought this one as well. This of course left me at 69 pets out of 70 for the achievement. I had been waiting on getting the last pet from the Oracle eggs, the baby proto drake. I thought what the hell I’ll buy it, but Inien told me not to that he had just mailed one to an alt so he gave me that one (Thanks Inien!). This brought me to 70 pets and got me the Lil’ Game Hunter achievement and my Fawn. It is a very well animated pet actually the way it moves its head and neck and when it runs. So yes I now have a grand total of 71 pets. You can check out my collection over at warcraftpets.com. It is a very cool site that has all the knowledge of the non-combat pets you could want. So I’m a bit more poor again but I don’t NEED anything and I just keep accumulating gold so I might as well use it for something I enjoy
Lucky Day!
by Laneer on May.26, 2009, under Achievements, Questing, Raid
My wife and son went off to visit some friends till Saturday so I found myself with a little more free time than usual. So I hopped on to see if I could score me a few raids, and maybe get my pants.
What I ended up with soon after that was a 25 man Vault. Not just any 25 man vault, but one that could actually kill Emalon! It was so earie, I was sitting there healing the boss tank, throwing around a few raid shields when necessary when I thought, something doesn’t seem right. Then I realized that the fight was going longer than normal. I think I didn’t breathe from that point till we won. He dropped all PvP gear and 2 of it was for Priests, but we had 4 Priests and I didn’t win any of it. I did get the achievement and my first conquest token
A little bit after that I ended up in a 10 man version of Vault and did the same thing with a completely different set of people. So the only thing I can determine from this is that the people that play when I normally get on, are not nearly as good as the people who are on earlier.
After I did that I think I did a few dailies then ended up in a 25 man OS. I was finishing that up just about the time Inien got on. I was excited because after I finished I would have enough badges for my Valorous Leggings of Faith. Then as luck would have it the Valorous Gloves of Faith and this time I won them! Well the token dropped but that is not as dramatic to link
Anyways I was excited both things were good upgrades.
Almost right after I finished I was on skype talking to Inien I got invited to a 10man OS. Wanting to test things out I joined up and got Inien to come too. We did that pretty quick, and I even won the spoils, yay gold! Oh ya speaking of gold, my other upgrade of the day. I bought off the AH the Bindings of Yearning for 950G. They were a nice 214 upgrade, and had the stats I wanted particularly crit!
After the OS Inien and I enjoyed some Tournament quests. We did a few of the dailies before calling it a night. I was quite pleased with my upgrades though. For badge stuff I would like to get the Valorous shoulders next as I like the stat distribution more than my current shoulders. Don’t care anything about the 4 piece bonus, plus I have my really nice Ulduar head
Finally

I got on tonight for a bit of play before tomorrows upcoming battle for Blizzcon tickets! I am a bit worried, can I do it 4 times in a row? We’ll see! I was looking for a 25man OS but ended up doing a 10 man OS that didn’t go so great. They lost one healer and I joined them. We wiped once because they didn’t wait for the pat though it was an epic battle. The pally healer DC’d and I was basically keeping the entire raid up and did a pretty good job of it for a while.
After that I made my cloth then headed over to the tournament site to give Inien a new bag. It was his last to have all 22 slot bags yay! Oh and I finally got that last skillup making me 450 in tailoring woot! After that we went and killed the dragon tournament daily and I decided to call it a night. I have to save my strength for the Blizzcon bonanzia!
Shadowy Day
by Laneer on Apr.18, 2009, under Achievements, Questing, Raid
I had a pretty lousy beginning of the day waking up to a migraine I had all day long. Finally mostly over it I got on this evening to try and enjoy the end of the day. I started off by going and getting a cooking quest I remembered I didn’t have they added in place of the old skill quest. So I know have all the cooking achievements woot!
Then I went to respec my Disc spec. I was looking things over because I was going to drop Desperate Prayer because I don’t like it as much as I did when it was free
When i noticed they added a PvE use to Focused Will. I have no idea how I missed that one, basically I just ignored the skill it was always a PvP skill. Now it adds 3% crit and I totally had to have that. So now my new spec is this.
Shortly after finishing that I found myself as DPS in a H OS. I figured I could do that pretty well but was still worried. I turned out to be able to do pretty decent DPS even though I’m still not great at the rotations. On Sarth I was able to 3400 which is fairly respectable I think.
Following that I spent the rest of my evening doing the argent tournament quests. I really enjoy this new event it is pretty neat. They did a good job on all parts of it I think. I spent a lot of time in shadow this evening while questing. It sure makes things much easier and more efficient
Of course tomorrow we have Easter to look forward too. Lots of achievements to do on that one for the meta. Hopefully I can get through them all.
Too Much Bad
by Laneer on Apr.11, 2009, under Achievements, Group, Raid
I had a very long Saturday that didn’t seem much like one. I was in to work before 4am, I was up at 3am. After I got home around 8:30 I played with my son and various house hold stuff then around 1 it was time for a rest. I couldn’t fall asleep so I decided to relax a bit and get on. When I did so I made the bad choice to do a quick Heroic Azjol-Nerub run. Oh what a great group I ended up with
Besides being terrible and wiping 4 times on the first boss, we wiped on the spider boss too! This is because it bug (no pun intended) out, I have seen this before. On the second time he did it again, but this time I didn’t have 5 or 6 adds on me and I was able to keep everyone alive and we won, getting the achivement of course
Needless to say there was nothing restful about the experience and I passed out on the floor shortly after for a much needed nap.
Then when I get on later also not intending to stay long because of tomorrows festivities I decided to try for an OS group. I got into a OS25 run and while I was waiting for it to come together I did some rat fishing
I had great concerns about this group when the leader asked how many healers you need
Then later after we get 25 he asks who wants to be leader he doesn’t want to be he was just starting the group … I was amazed that we won actually.
Of course being the crazy guy I am I stayed around for the OS10 the guy wanted to do. He had to lead it himself but we all just did it so it shouldn’t be so hard to remember what we did. On the first drake we nearly wiped as you can see in this shot
Then on the second drake again we nearly wiped. The 3rd drake I think we only lost 1 person. We managed to not loose anyone on Sartharion some how. It was also the longest OS10 run I’ve ever done and was soooo ready for bed afterwards ![]()
Whirlwind Raiding Day
by Laneer on Apr.01, 2009, under Raid
Happy April Fools Day! I think WoW-EU had a much better April Fools than WoW-US
I think Opera had the best one of this year though!
I got on and noticed someone shouting for a healer for 10man OS, I didn’t answer right away finishing my cooking quest. Once I was done they were still looking so I joined up. That kicked off a string of quick raids with 10 man vault, and 25 man OS following with the same raid leader.
I can’t say I enjoyed myself healing so much, we had too many healers as usual, especially in the 25 man OS I think we had 6 healers.
I amused myself just before the 25 man started by watching some Diablo on TV
I’m sure I’m not the only one that thinks this thing looks like a TV hehe
All the bosses pretty much dropped plate and mail or melee dps gear. Nothing exciting for me anyways. I did win the bag of spoils from the 10 man OS which I had never done before. I didn’t realize it had so much gold in it, 47g! Between that and all the raids I think I made a little over a hundred gold.
Everything went so fast, and I was kept so busy I didn’t even have any down time to do my new tweeting thing
Was a good day though, perhaps I can get in a decent 25 man naxx and get some more valor tokens.
