Adventures of a Dwarf Priest

I was going to do some PvP when I heard someone shouting looking for 1 more DPS for kara.  So I always miss guild kara and I wondered how these PUG karas went.  So I put myself in LFG and just tagged myself as healing and DPS.  Well it turned out this was a few NE folks.  2 were former FESTers, Ceph and Warf and one guy I didn’t know.  He was apparently holy and went and respeced Shadow and told me to heal instead.  He is probably one of those doubters about my dps.  I could have out dps him anyways that is for sure.

This run was long long long. It started yesterday and ran into this morning.  I stayed though because I wanted the faction and badges.  There is actually very little in Kara I actually want.  For instance here at Nightbane I was hoping for his offhand but alas it didn’t drop.

On the way back from a wipe and repair I was laughing because buffless with my healing gear my renew ticks for 666.  I was chatting with Ceph about it cause I remember back in the AQ days Jotex was teasing me about being impressed if my renew ticked for 666.  I think I had a 666 over heal and said something about it which started the conversation

Also with my consumables and fully raid buffed I got to 2k healing woot!  With the silly shaman we replaced our abandoned healer (more on that in a moment) with I had even more!

Oh and I was so pissed I must have had that stupid the object is busy error when I went to loot my prince badges and I missed them.  We went and did Netherspite and i realized as we were waiting to start I didn’t get them.  Which made me even more mad since he drops 3   So after we killed Netherspite (very slowly I might add) I went back and the Prince hadn’t dissolved yet!  I was able to get my badges after all woot!

The funniest thing about the whole run was the Priest Atrapos.  We still had 3 or 4 bosses left and he had died 12 times, I had died 3 times, exactly the number of times the raid wiped.  The NE shadow priest died more than me but no one died as much as Atrapos did except the mage was coming close.  He refused to control his agro until he had like 6 or 7 deaths and someone said something about maybe controling his agro he said he doesn’t like to be sitting idle.  Well he suddenly started though and stopped dieing.

So anyways  I knew from Cowtips he had 41 points in Holy and he used COH.  He also healed like he was a paladin he had so much over healing it was not even funny.  Anyways I look him up in the armory while we were waiting for something and I see it has him listed 3 times in 3 different guilds(Militia,Priory of Sion,FOLD) so he apparently moves around a lot   I noticed he had only 2 points in Silent Resolve and 3 points in Improved Power Word Shield.   I made a simple suggestion to him since he kept dying that maybe he should move those 3 points into silent resolve that through my own testing its a talent I can’t live without.

He eventually responded to me and told me that he never has problem with his guild (wonder which one he was talking about) and that he needs his stronger bubble!  So this morning I loaded his Armory profile into the Priest Healing calculator and turned off the 3 points in improved PW:Shield and basically his bubble would be 261HP smaller without those 3 points. So 12% less threat or a 261HP larger shield?  Hmmm Thats such a HUGE decision.  Not!  It is clear to me, and most of the Priest community that Improved PW:Shield isn’t worth the 3 points!  Once the reduced the weakened effect to 15 seconds for everyone I’ve never taken that talent again.

So anyways I think it was when we did Illhoof who did not drop my lighting capacitor after the boss finished the shadow priest rolled against him on some healing item and he was pissed that he was rolling on damage and healing gear and he left the raid.  Didn’t phase anyone we just found the restro shammy and continued on.

So that was my adventure in my first Kara PUG.  Will I do it again? Good question!

I got invited to Karazhan because someone wanted to leave though it we only ended up doing one boss before everyone had to leave I was thankful to pickup the rep and the 2 badges

I also managed to get in a nice quick BM run before bed.  This got me within 500 rep of exalted with the dragons!  Everyone but the guy who was doing 45% of the DPS wanted to do another run but I didn’t want to wait for another person and chance they couldn’t do what the Shaman was doing So I called it a night!

I got on with the intention of just doing the cooking quest and probably heading over to Doomhammer where Inian was at the time when I got a tell asking if I wanted to join Kara. I can never make the start anymore and there for never get to go so I decided not to turn down the opportunity. Especially now that I can get Heroic badges from there which I never seem to have time to get either I joined just after Nightbane in time for Curator. We did him no problem and moved on over to Aran. I lost the roll for the gloves yet again from Curator. Some day no one will need them and I’ll get them We wiped a few times on Aran, but we downed the Prince first try! He didn’t drop anything for me either. He dropped the T4 head token, the mage one, but no one needed it! Curse them for not dropping the Priest one, of course then one of the warriors probably would have needed it.It was fun though and I got a bunch of tokens. I only need 2 more for my Bracers I want. And then after I did the cooking quest

I was on a little early today while my son was sleeping. Managed to get in my cooking daily and was seeing about the PvP daily. If I do get on I like to do things I can drop when he wakes up.I really lucked out on today’s cooking quest. I got a blue recipe, delicious Stormchops! They look fun and now there is a use for lightning eel. Now I have to remember where I was always fishing those silly things up. They were always one of those funning things in WoW that has no use.Then the guild was trying to get people together to finish 2 bosses in Kara. It was suppose to just be real quick they tell me :b I insist that I can’t because my son could wake up soon. They really wanted me to come so I gave in and went. The saddest part was I had been trying to complete the PvP daily. Today it was EOTS which I have never won. We were actually winning when they summoned me! Oh well I kept thinking I’d at least get some badges for my time.I love this screenshot I took here of us doing illhoof. He dropped the lightning capacitor, I rolled but lost. I thought that would go perfect with my SOL gear Fruits was sad because he had wanted that forever but he was on his warrior. He moved his Shaman out of our guild anyways :p It took us 3 times to Illhoof because of people not dealing with the chains very well.Here we are just before Netherspite with Murky providing a little pre-battle entertainment!Netherpsite went a little better, we did wipe once because Frootsack forgot to move in and out of the red beam. It scared me death on the second attempt which we did win I didn’t see where the red portal was and some how managed to be in the way when it started. I quickly jumped out of the way and some how managed to not cause any problems. Scared the living crap out of me though! We finished him off anyways and he dropped some crap, people wanted it though at least. I got 4 badges out of it anyways so 1/5 of my new crit cloak! I later came back after dinner for a few to try the PvP quest again. I did finally manage to get into a run that had people who had strategy and we won. I actually had fun too which I never do in this instance. Me and a feral druid had a fun battle as I escorted him back with the flag, 2 Shadow Priests tried to stop him. After he capped we had a battle with him that lasted forever. In the end though we won. Mostly because they kept mana burning me and using Gheal. They didn’t exactly have huge mana pools or good mana regen without being in shadow form which neither of them were because they kept healing eachother. I got them really good with Chastise, and there mana burning wasn’t much of a match for my much larger mana pool and superior mana regen I retired early to spending some time with the wife.

Well I had a better day today. I got on and had a hard time finding a group. Inian was on and we were looking for something to do. No heroics were going so we joined up with a SV run. We had a DPS warrior and a Druid for a tank. Everyone was such a good player (and probably over geared) that I was able to do the ENTIRE instance without drinking once, and I healed almost entirely with Renew. We also did the instance in just over 30 minutes. I was using some spore fish food and mana oil so I had over 428 mana/5 on me Just wait till next patch when I double my 5 second rule regen. Well almost double I have the 5% from my Primal Mooncloth bonus Plus my bangle!When we were just about finished with our SV run Maehlin sent me a tell wanting me to come heal for Kara. I had been hearing it was a rough Kara but I figured what the hell so I went and joined them after. I joined in after they had a few failed attempts at nightbane and gave up and moved onto the curator. We one shot him, he is pretty easy. I lost the roll on the teir 4 hands again :bThe only other boss we did was Aran because it was so late and everyone was beat from the tough Kara I’m very glad I wasn’t in most of :b We wiped on the first try to Aran, and then someone accidentally agroed him before we all got back and part of the raid wiped again. He even ran out the door to try and kill me luckly as I ran away he went back in his room and deagroed hehe We were able to finish him off on the 3rd try, isn’t that the charm? Nothing good dropped though but I was able to get the quest item for the part of the chain I’m on.Then we went to bed I decided to turn in the quest tomorrow. I hope to remember to go to the fishing contest as well tomorrow!
