Faith in Humanity

by on Mar.06, 2009, under Achievements, Raid

I had the day off today and my idea was I’d try to get in a full run of 25 man Naxx and actually see the whole dungeon.  I’ve had this plan a few times and it hasn’t worked out yet :(

Sparkly Teeth?

I’ll start off on a light note :)   I was cleaning out the bank some more and found a bunch of those toothpicks from the Halloween event.  I took them out and just played with them through out the day to get rid of them.  I discovered something I never noticed before, or they got bugged cause I could swear they didn’t do that before.  The sparkle is no where near my mouth (admittedly covered by my beard) would be.  It is smack dab in the middle of my nose!  Just a bit disturbing :)

Terrabad!

This Naxx run is the one I should have never gone on, I should have trusted my instincts from the begining.  The first indicator was the raid leader who was trying to invite me was on my ignore list.  I think it was because he had previously kept bugging me some time in the past to do Naxx from random tells.  I thought well maybe I shouldn’t hold that against him.  So after getting tells from other people in the raid I joined.

This raid had TONS of Priests, I have never seen so many Priests, and throughout the ordeal we actually kept getting more Priests.  Priests were apparently the only healers on.  The DPS in this raid was good, I mean we had at least 10 people who were pulling 3-5k dps no problem.  The healing was Horrible, and the tanking was sub-par.  So the problems I usually have were reversed, and it made things go just as bad :P   We had between 5-6 healers during the raid, but all the healing was being done by 3 of us.  There was a ret pally in the raid who had done more over all healing than some of the healers.

Ok so I got stuck with a bunch of horrible players, if this wasn’t bad enough they were also horrible people!  Just listening to them in vent made me sick.  There was a woman (one of the horrible healers) who was always going afk.  A conversation got started when she said let her know when we are pulling and she will stop feeding her kid.  I was like WoW, a few people cringed most laughed.  Then a conversation got started between her and a few other “parents” about what OTC drugs work best to put your kid to sleep.  She was saying benadryl, another guy was saying NyQuil, and then they got into a list of different kids of alcohol to use.  I was blown away on what horrible people they were.  Then later someone said something about duct ape in jest ( I hope ) and she said her husband won’t let her, but she followed with “but he is alloud to hang them on the wall”.  Oh and she had to go on smoke breaks too, so ya amazing lady :\

In the end a battle broke out between a bunch of them in vent where they were cussing each other out all of the place.  The main tank that had left came back into vent to mock everyone and it was quickly getting ridiculous.  I left shortly after we wiped to North the Plaguebringer for the 6th time.  That guy is a bag of loot and we couldn’t kill him.  The mages had apparently never decursed anyone before, and then after we finally got them to do that right the off-tanks we had couldn’t control the adds.  It was so horrible I must say I lost a little faith in Humanity.

Good H-UP Run

After I finished that disaster I did the rest of my Dailies for the evening and looked for a normal Heroic run to do.  I ended up joining this group and doing Heroic UP, UK and HoL.  They were a great bunch of people, good players, and we did real well with no wiping.  They got me to my achievements of finishing off my Northrend Factions, and getting my 250 Emblem of Heroism achievements.

I did end the night on a low note, and drug poor Inien into it.  Someone wanted to do H VH so I join, our tank goes LD just before the first boss, the water guy…We wipe of course.  The DK says he can tank he has taking gear, I’m not sure but I take his word for it.  I grab Inien and we give it a go but he was just too squishy, not to mention he didn’t appear to know what he is doing.  We managed to kill the first boss but everyone died but the fury warrior and when we got back in we didn’t get to loot so nothing gained from all that.  Lame ending for the night though :(

Zul’Gurub Carnage

by on Mar.01, 2009, under Achievements, Farming

Just when I got on this evening I see Tue was recruiting to do a mount run on ZG.  They were also going to make a pit stop on the fish boss for Turtle Books.  I decided to join and wanted to attempt Hakkar my only classic Raid achievement I didn’t have.

Don't Cross the Beams!

We ended up going with 2 other guild Priests besides me, Inien and Tue.  It looks really funny when all 3 of us popped our Mind Sear :)   I kept thinking of Ghost Busters, don’t cross the beams!

Hakkar

Our Hakkar attempts didn’t go to well without a second tank.  The silly guy kept mind controlling me and I’d end up killing everyone.  We made a few tries at it then decided we’d come back with another tank next time.

I'm an Itty Bitty Pigmy Gnome

In one of the attempts I drank a bunch of Pygmy Oil and turned into a Pygmy Gnome, and then Inien threw baby spice on me so I was about as big as a critter! :)

AOE Fun

After the Hakkar attempt everyone left but Inien and I.  We stayed for some rep farming fun.  Now that they changed it so you get full rep even when you out level an area you could effectively farm rep here.

AOE Fun

I was sitting at just about Revered when we started and got a little over 12% rep while we were in there.

First Boss, Bat Lady

We did two bosses after everyone left as well.  We might be able to do others but we only tried two.  The Snake boss was super easy I figured he would be.  Then we went to bat lady.  I assumed she would be super easy too, but I forgot about her healing…  Inien and I fought with her for 14 minutes till we FINALLY got her down.  I didn’t think it was ever going to happen.  Basically Inien could only counter spell every other heal.  I didn’t have enough mana to go on for long, in fact if this was 3.1 we wouldn’t have been successful.  At the very end she was low, I got spooky out for the 2nd time and made a final DPS push, between Inien and Puddles and Spooky and I we finally killed her.  It was such a relief, and satisfying kill.

It is sad to think I wouldn’t be able to do this in 3.1 though :(   Or maybe it would have been easier if I had a shadow build  I could have switched to I could have done a ton more damage :P   Was a fun way to end the night anyways.

Reputation 4 U and Me

by on Jan.21, 2009, under Group, Questing

When I got on today I did my Inscription research on Laneir, then filled quite a few guild orders for glyphs.  I debated playing Laneir, he has been back at full rest exp for a bit but I really felt like healing.  I got back on Laneer and did some usual of the exciting mini game while I put myself in LFG.

It wasn’t long before I got a tell from a Druid saing want to start a group.  I assumed the Druid was a tank and said sure, though it turned out he was “Feral DPS”.    I use the term DPS lightly because it turned out he wasn’t even close to being able to out DPS the tank.  The run went really smooth for the most part.  We tried for the achievement on the first boss but for some reason we didn’t get it even though we never broke any of the frozen tombs, BOOO!

I lost the tank once due to an extreme amount of burst damage that occurred at the end of the fight but all the mobs died right after.  I lost the druid a couple of times due to him having less HP than me in Cat, and him not paying attention :P   He died in the last fight before the guy respawns because he got in the smash.  Our Hunter was doing the most damage so I protected him like he was a tank hehe  I’m not like a lot of healers, I recognize the importance of DPS.  Yes I would like for them to watch themselves but to be honest in WOTLK nearly all my group failure is because of the lack of DPS.  I pay attention to who is really doing the damage, and those people are treated accordingly :)   The last boss ended up dropping that same epic ring I got last time and no one wanted, which no one wanted it again either :P   He also dropped the Breeches of the Caller which actually were better than the pants I was currently wearing even without being gemed which I won.

Crystal Forest

After that I flew over to Zul’Drak to finish getting friendly with the Argent Crusade.  I tried to finish before we started but the group came together too quickly (how often does that happen).  I took this screenshot because I really love the look of Crystal Song Forest.

Laneer the Ghoul

Inien came over to join me as he got on to help me kill that elite group quest worth 350 rep!  He hadn’t done that one yet either so all is good.  We then ended up following a huge quest chain for the rest of the evening for Knights of the Ebon Blade which Inien was working on next.  He needed to get friendly with them so it worked out great.  The quest chain was awesome, you end up getting a disguise to be a ghoul and you do quests for the scourge to figure out what they are up to.

Tour of Zul'Drak

You get a tour of what is going on ala Zangamarsh, or the DK newbie zone.  The base you work out of actually reminds me of the DK newbie area :)

Questing for the Scourge

Here is the guy in charge that you end up doing a bunch of quests for and making him feel good.  He trusts you more and more what a sucker!

Yay blight crystals

The blighted area under the base you are working at.  this is Inien and I forcing the peons to get us blight crystals.

Exploding scourge

This quest was fun you get to control those big guys who’s name escapes me and they have two abilities.  One is something like fart that is an AOE damage/knockdown and the other is explode.  You have to kill 60 of the troll guys with them.  Getting a whole bunch of them and exploding was fun.  It was a lot easier after I realized I can heal of all things and stay in ghoul form :P

Lich King Visits

The chain finished up on top of the base fighting the head troll guy.  Then the Lich King comes out kills him for being a disappointment and threatens you.  It’s pretty damn cool :)   I really enjoyed the quest chain, and it was fun doing it with Inien.  We haven’t quested together in a while I don’t think.

I ended up with my friendly with the Argent Crusade so I’m all set to start on that one.  I’m almost friendly with the Knights of the Ebon Blade so I’ll be ready for that one when I’m done.  I’ll try to get in the regular daily and pick up some faction on that one in case I don’t get more quests before I’m ready.

One More Exalted

by on Jan.21, 2009, under Achievements, Questing

One thing I forgot to mention last night is I got another exalted under my belt which brings me to 26!

Wyrm Rest Temple

I stopped by this morning over at Wyrmrest to check the rep vendor if I had any tailoring patterns I could learn yet.  I know they have the new enchanting bag but I wasn’t high enough to learn it yet.

Fireman...err FireDwarf

Decided while I was out I’d check out the Argent Crusade quests.  I need to get friendly with them so I can get the talbard and work on there faction next.  I did a few while I was out there, I had fun putting out fires and freeing people in this village.  Unfortunately I am not cool enough to do the 3 man wanted quest I picked up.  I had him down to about 20% before I completely had no mana and ran.  I’ll have to ask Inien to help me down him :(
