Heroic MurMur

by Laneer on Jan.13, 2008, under Farming, Gameplay, Questing

Little House

I know this doesn’t look like it has anything to do with MurMur but as I started my session I did my dailies of course and I happen to run across this little house as I was flying to Blade’s Edge from Nagrand.  I never noticed it before, and I don’t know if it has any purpose.  It is probably just one of those scene setters Blizzard likes to give us.  Kind of neat I think.  It was nestled in the hills not sure how this lady and those kids got up there.

Heroic MurMur Defeated

I had been trying all the while to get in an SL run.  As it so happens the Heroic Daily, and regular Daily were both SL so I figured I was bound to get in one eventually.  I tried to get in a group early just before and while Inian was getting on that needed DPS.  They would just not listen to me that I was fully capable of DPSing.   Eventually I noticed a group with a warlock and 2 warriors and said how about joining together so Inian and I joined them.  They were all very capable people, and we totally lucked out I think.  The warlock had to go after the first boss and replaced him self with a equally well skilled hunter.  We had a few rough spots in the instance, its definitely not an easy one.  Blizzard has too much variance in the level of difficulty in Heroics I think.

Afer the second boss we had no problems though until we got to MurMur.  He is completely different how you fight him and it basically requires all 5 of you to work very well together or you loose.  None of us had prior Heroic MurMur experience I don’t think and we were figuring it out as we go.  No one knew he was different so the first time we wiped badly.  We continued to refine, I think it took us 5 or 6 tries before we won, but our final and successful attempt was flawless!  He is actually pretty easy still as long as everyone works together and once you know what the hell your suppose to do :)

He dropped the Shockwave Truncheon which when compared to my Gavel of Pure Light is debatable which is better.  I went ahead and rolled need on that puppy.  I show its only a 5% drop, looks awesome, and has more stamina which my healing gear lacks.  I’d loose to 2mana/5 but I’ll have tons more of that when I get my Whitemend Hood made.  I just have to farm some more water so I can put healing on the Shockwave.  I don’t recall ever seeing anyone with it, maybe because no one wants to do heroic Shadow Labs.  Oh and on the other plus side Inian and I completed that Naru quest we had!  They lowered the gold reward on it though for some reason the bastards!

Fire Elemental Destruction

Of course I finally got exalted in all that, max exalted actually! I was able to get my Gavel of Unearthed Secret which is totally awesome to finally have.  I took it out and beat up some fire elementals real quick so Inian could make me another Primal.  I never had a chance to farm the other 4 I needed.  Now I just need to farm 3 more woot!

All in all a very productive night, getting my last Shattar exalted was awesome, as well as the new nifty looking healing mace :)

Where Do I Find Them!

by Laneer on Jan.12, 2008, under Gameplay, Questing

I know, I know I should make it a rule if we wipe in the first 3 pulls I leave, but I was desperate for Lower City faction!  And yes, we wipped on the second pull.  They let a mob run away and agro like two more pulls which was more than I could save us from.

Bad SL

This group started off with 2 warriors a hunter and a rogue.  The rogue was an enchanter and kept insisting everyone give him their greens.  Everyone brushed off that.  He stayed around till we finished the first boss.  Which took forever, slowest group I can recall I think.  Not because we couldn’t kill things fast just they were slow to do anything :P   The rogue insisted he would DE the drop from the first boss, then after we were almost to the second boss he went offline and never returned.  So he ran off with the shard and depressed some people.  Several of these people had never been to SL and it was the hunters first character, he had just got level 70.

Bad SL

Then to make the group more symmetrical we got another hunter.  So I was with 2 hunters and 2 warriors.   Yes we were still slow…  The second boss dropped the tanking trinket I always see warriors after.  I think thats the first time I’ve seen it and they both needed it.  The one that was DPSing actually won it.

The 3rd boss went pretty easy he went down in only 2 teleports though they let way too many adds get to him still.  Then in the last stretch to MurMur they almost wiped us on every pull.  No one did anything to stop the summoners, no one did anything about protecting me.  Every pull we’d end up with so many mobs and I’d pull all the stops to save us.  Didn’t loose one person.  If I wasn’t so good we’d have wiped every pull!

MurMur went fairly well, I for once in my entire life was not touched the entire battle.  It was mostly the hunters it seemed.  One of the warriors did die though because he kept running away from MurMur in the opposite direction of me.   Personally I would run towards the healer but thats just me…

I made it through this painful run being just shy of 1 more run to finish exalted.  It will probably take 2 runs or maybe one heroic run if anyone would ever do that.  Though I do need to do one to finish one of those Naru quests I have.

Painful SL Run

by Laneer on Jan.05, 2008, under Gameplay, PvP

I got on did my cooking daily and wanted to tackle my Lower City faction.  I had the SL daily still so I went looking for a group.  I found one rather quickly.  It became very clear to me before we even started this was going to be a bad group, but I wanted faction THAT bad :P

I was telling Inian I need to start a page for signs you know when your in a bad group.  Like when you get there no one but you have the key.  Or when the Rogue tells you he has only been past the second boss twice.  Or when your protection warrior out dps’s the Hunter.  Anyways I could go on and on :)

SL Wipe

The Rogue kept insisting the second boss was soo hard, I kept insisting he was fun.  We did he without problems, I was actually worried we were not going to have enough DPS.  We defeated him and made our way to the 3rd boss, of course the Rogue didn’t have enough lockpicking skill to open the chest…  The third boss however we wiped several times on, no one could get the concept kill the adds and we win.  After done enough times I said ok I’m done if they couldn’t kill him they were not killing MurMur.    The warrior got me to come back after our crapy rogue and druid left and said we’d get people to finish.

MurMur Down

We of course down the 3rd boss almost before he could teleport once.  I had invited Inian and he invited a warlock he knew.  We still had our not so leet dps hunter but it didn’t matter.  After that we went and did MurMur and slayed him quite easily.  Just how SL is SUPPOSE to be.  Finished my daily and got some extra faction and all was good.   That brings me up to 75% through Lower City.  I also go the 4 spirit shards I needed to get the PvP ring yay.

After that I did some running around till eventually Inian and I were talking about the Arena.  I said we should do a few games.  I made him some Unyielding bracers, he ended up buying me the Unyielding Girdle pattern while he was getting the Primal Earth. Then off we went to the arena.  The queues were around 4 minutes, we did a few games and just a little over breaking even :)   We came up against a Shaman-Mage combo and the shaman was way over geared for our rating with over 425 resilience and we got owned by them several times.  We had some good battles and fun ones too.  Like I’ve said before I like to take part of all types of WoW gameplay :)

Painful But Successful Murmur

by Laneer on Dec.19, 2007, under Gameplay

I had been on and off this evening running around IRL then stopping in for some dailies. I was over in Blades Edge to do a few over there. I had saw this amusing comic on gucomics and someone mentioned a mod called Ogri’Lazy. I found it on wowinterface.com and wanted to try it. I found one flaw in it. As I was trying to do it I’d get thrown off, usually at the end where I couldn’t remember because the mod was loosing track. Then I realized it was picking up the progression of other people around me. Neat mod besides that though :) I was about to head to bed when Thailos asked if I would heal for Murmur. So I went and did so. I got a couple unlucky touches in the beginning that caused me to loose the warrior in the group. Everyone else but Thailos and me died because of his sill range attacks. Thailos wasn’t initially listening to me telling him to just stay in the sonic boom. Paladins can’t effectively run in and out but I haven’t met one that couldn’t live through it (protection anyways). Problem is most people look at me funny when I tell them to stand in the big AOE attack lol. He started staying in it though and we ended up winning just barely. Though he was alive here in this shot he died immediately after. I didn’t ask him but I’m going to assume he was touched just before death lolI got a little bit of free Lower City rep. I finish that some day! :) Then I’ll finally have my hammer of justice!

Guild SL Run

by Laneer on Nov.16, 2007, under Gameplay

A few of us wanted to do the regular instance daily so we managed to get the members all in guild! 3 of us were Priests, I Holy DPS’d, Priestitute was Shadow DPS and Mystalia healed. Maehlin and Meanbadugly tanked. We were going a little crazy, well Maehlin and I were in competition. I was a little close till we got to AOE skele’s then he really pulled ahead of me. I keep forgetting to take more screenshots and video when I DPS so when people tell me I can’t I can show them to a website hehe I thought I did pretty well.We completed the run and a Nether even dropped which was timely because Priestitute was asking about some whitemend pants. Don’t have the hat recipie though I’d like it, though. Guess I need to do more botanica.

Night Of The Bad PUG

by Laneer on Nov.03, 2007, under Gameplay

You can almost here the thunder and see the lightning flashing right? Ok so it wasn’t all bad I had 1 good group out of 4, but it seemed like it was a really bad PUG night for me.I started wanting to get my Primal Nethers for my boots, so I looked for a heroic. The people on in the guild were already off doing something so what were my options but a PUG.So I get invited to a Heroic Mech, I watched for a while they couldn’t find any DPS. So I made my pitch (most people don’t believe I can DPS) and they accepted and invited me. I flew up there and me the Warrior, and the Druid healer were all in one instance while the hunter and maybe the warlock were in another. So we all came out, the hunter insisted he hadn’t done a heroic mech in 2 days so the warrior figuring it was a bug made him leader and we all followed him in. We preceded to wipe on the FIRST pull. The second pull we had to run out because the hunter agroed the entire room, and the druid was instagibbed. Then on the 3rd pull the Druid was killed again instantly and I healed through it. Mind you this whole time I’m still out dpsing the hunter and warlock. I think we do one more pull successfully for once and then we get to where we pull the first mini boss guy and he isn’t there… The druid stealths around, the bosses are gone, this is a cleared Mech! The warlock instantly leaves group, we harass the hunter for a bit, and we break up, now I’m saved to a stupid empty mech…So no other heroics going on I give up on that and go for a Durnhold run (still need time faction). Most of the people were not 70 except the warrior, but that was fine. But when we get there the warrior has never done the following quest. He can’t seem to understand he needs to follow the girl around, then later says he doesn’t see her. Finally after 20 minutes I start looking around for another group….Then I get invited to a BM group, this was a all RIVEN guild set except me. We do great, complete everything fast, I only drank in the instance 3 times once before each boss. We sharded all the crap, I got my faction and we left.I should of ended my night on a high note but no I thought hey we have the towers still right, How about an SL group! So I get in one, they are good enough players, I’m in there doing Melee I have to heal so little (improving my mace skill!) we have a paladin tank. We do the first boss and right after the Paladin goes link dead. We wait around for like 10 or 15 minutes he doesn’t come back, there are no tanks of course so I just tell them I’m going to bed. Before I logged I ran over to backup heal some of the guys alts who were doing the Ring of Blood quests even though they apparently didn’t need me. I was there anyways and helped! Then off to bed I went, a fairly sad panada.

Shadow Labyrinth

by Laneer on Mar.13, 2007, under Gameplay

I went to Shadow Labyrinth for the first time today and man did I really enjoy myself. It was a guild run which of course automatically made it more enjoyable (yay for PUGS). It was with Bobo’s shadow priest and I really love grouping with shadow priests too.

Lots of humanoids, of course we had no Mage, and a rogue with no Imp Sap, so ya basically no CC which made the run that much more entertaining :)

This boss was sooooo much fun. You beat the crap out of him then he goes “Time for Play” and then he mind controls everyone and makes you attack each other. He of course blows all your cool downs and uses tons of your mana. He didn’t seem to hit that hard and we beat him no problem. He was just fun!

This massive guy was all kinds of fun too. Although it didn’t look fun to tank. You had to run in and out a lot cause he had this 10K damage AOE around him he did every once in a while. He also casted this debuf that would Toss you up in the air and do some amount of damage to you. I was actually able to put levitate on and keep it on while I healed. For some reason the debuff didn’t count as damage for removing levitate.

All the fights were incredibly fun, got 2 quests done while I was in there as well. I got enough spirit shards for my meta gem to stick in my hollowed hat. If only I could get it enchanted. I still haven’t quite brought myself to break my 5 piece trans yet.

On an unrelated note I made my Primal Mooncloth Belt today! Got it all nice and gem’d up too. 1 Piece down too many too go. I’ll be making mooncloth till i turn blue in the face it seems. I’d love to make the 2 Whitemend pieces too. That would be some delicious healing and mana regen :)
