It’s Done!
by Laneer on Mar.17, 2009, under Achievements
I have not had the energy to play much recently. The time change really through me off I have not recovered from it yet. Been going to be early, waking up late. Yes I am a mess
Anyways I have managed to eek out the energy for a few dailies every(mostly) night and I have finally finished off my WOTLK reps. Well till we have more access to the few we can’t finish
I finished both Sons of Hodir, and The Oracles. I was really shocked there is no Achievement for the Sons of Hodir, especially since it was such an annoying grind.
As you might notice in my achievements that those 2 factions also equaled out my 30th exalted! Of course I still need to come up with 10 more to get the title I believe. Given the recent changes to how you get rep it should be possible to finish off some older reps I’m close on.
I’m very close to Brood of Nozdormu less than a full AQ40 run from exalted. That would also net me Cenarion Circle which would also net me another title and achievement for having both Cenarion factions
I haven’t checked MC since the change but Hydraxian Waterlords might be possible to finish now, with only faction from the bosses it would have taken like 50 runs to finish! Been doing mount runs to ZG fro Zandalar Tribe faction, Inien and I can grind that one now too.
Other than those it would be a lot of slow grinds like the goblin factions and such. It is doable now though. Maybe some day if I get my energy back I can work on all that
Just Another Day
by Laneer on Mar.03, 2009, under Achievements, PTR, Questing
I got on today and continued to clean up my inventory and eventually went over to the ZG troll island to turn in some of those coins. Inien went out there to try and turn in one of the armor pieces he got but it turns out he didn’t have enough rep to do that. We popped back to Dalaran and had been talking about mounts and stuff and happen to stop by the mount vendor. I didn’t realize there was a mount you bought with Heroic Badges, Inien remembered it being a bear but it was a woolly mammoth. We were talking about the other mounts and achievements and Inien bought the bear just to see if there was an achievement, and I ended up buying it too just cause he did
After that I headed off to the Basin to get a new Egg, I forgot to do that last time I was on. While I was there of course I did my dailies. Eventually I headed off to do my Sons of Hodir dailies as well.
The first one I usually do is the kill the wild proto drake one. I just ignore everything and just try to kill it as fast as I can. I start out with a Shield/PoM/Renew which helps
Of course by the time he dies he has me over a weird spot on the mountain. I am always ready with Levitate because often you hit the mountain and when it lets go of you down you slide
Of course if you have been following the PTR you know there was another patch yesterday, a small one. Not a lot of huge changes on the Priest side. They put back Hymn of Hope though (Yay?) and also change Psychic Horror making it a new ability that disarms as well as horrifies your foe. I’m sure PvP shadow Priests will be happy about that one. Of course they saw fit to squeeze a nerf for me in the patch by changing Stoneform. It now only removes bleeds/poison/disease but does not provide immunity for its (very short) duration. I have a hard time understanding how this was so incredibly necessary but all I ever use it for is PvE to remove bleed/poison. The immunity did still help in PvE though in certain situations because a mobs behavior changes when you are immune.
I think they have been making too many changes for the sake of their silly E-Sport.
It Can Be Fun!
by Laneer on Feb.27, 2009, under Group, Questing, Raid
Today I managed to do something I’ve never done before. I got into a PUG raid where they DIDN’T take too many healers. I did a 10 man Obsidian Sanctum because I knew again I would miss the guild one Sunday (middle of the day). I was shocked when I realized that the only other healer was a restro Druid. I actually got to do something and make a meaningful impact! With 3 healers in a 10 man you are almost fighting over who gets to heal the people. I don’t understand why people do that, it just makes everything go slower, it doesn’t make it safer
It was the first raid I’ve done in WOTLK where I felt I contributed something if you can believe it or not.
I don’t know what the optimal fun number of healers would be for a 25 man, maybe 3? 4 tops probably. I think every 25 man I’ve done has had 5 healers. It is always too many and again I feel worthless. Mostly because everyone has tools to often get to everyone before me. I don’t have much raid healing ability at the moment besides PoM. The Shamans, Druids or Holy Priests get to everything before me. Most of the time I give up and just do crappy dps till we get to a boss I can be somewhat useful on. With less healers I actually get to do something and it becomes more fulfilling, and challenging.
After that satisfying run I went and did my oracle dailies and ended up watching LFG looking for my 25 man vault. That never ended up coming but I figured I wanted to do something else so I checked the Heroic Daily was Azjol-Nerub. So I checked out LFG and noticed a Prot Warrior sitting in there and just asked him if he wanted to start a group.
He was all over it and we quickly formed a group and went over there. Everyone turned out to be pretty good quality and we had no problems. No one died till the very end where the Feral Druid got caught in the pound. Other than that it was super smooth. A good way to end the night!
Disaster Strikes!
by Laneer on Feb.26, 2009, under Achievements, Group, Questing
I get on thinking I was in the mood for healing so I look for what people are trying to do. Inien jumps on shortly after I do so I think hey lets run something together. I saw a Prot Pally shouting he was bored and wanted to do something. I message him to see if we could talk him into Heroic HoS but he never replies.
I then get a message from someone about the heroic daily (Nexus) and I check and they also need a DPS. So I say I’ll go and to invite Inien. I of course then tell Inien I volunteered him to come.
Of course we get there and the tank seemed pretty good, he was well enough geared I didn’t have to heal him much. We had a second mage Inien said had a weird spec, and a DPS warrior.
Well as sure as I could sense the impending disaster I notice after the first few pulls Inien is doing 49% of the damage. I’m like oh no, but at least the tank is good. As we progress the second mage isn’t even out dpsing the tank, while the DPS warrior was able to stay just barely above the tank. We start fighting through the frozen guys and the tank doesn’t pull the guy back and gets feared into another group of mobs. This happens some times and under normal circumstances I can usually pull us through it. However with Inien having to do all the damage, and our tank running around like a mad man we wipe.
We go back and try again and almost the same thing happens. I’m not really sure what the tank was doing but he kept running around like a crazy man, going out of my LOS or even RANGE! Anyways we come back from the second wipe and I was trying to give some hits and the tank goes “I have to go my wife is angry at me”. Then follows up with “I’d really like to finish but I have to go she is really angry”. I was like wow that is one of the “best” excuses I’ve heard in while. We of course abandoned grouping with the guys and that was the end of my instance attemps for the evening
Thankfully I have karma now and can label those people appropriately
So after I went up to the top of the Nexus. Inien told me there is a quest up here that lets me practice for Malygos. So I try it and I’m absolutely horrible at it. I killed my drake so many times while trying to figure it out. The first issue was that I wasn’t using the small heal it has,I didn’t have auto self target on so when I clicked it gave me a hand, and you have to click on the drake (not yourself which I kept doing and it not working). This was time consuming once I figured out what to do so I just turned on auto self cast. I never really go the hang of it. I also need to show the buffs on my pet bar which I don’t now because I couldn’t see the HOT on myself. I’ll have to go back and practice more.
After that I continued my questing in the Basin, starting off with the end of my waygate chain. It was pretty fun, they really like those vehicles
I got my quest achievement for the zone too but I still have some nessingwary quests to finish there I shall of course.
The Usual
by Laneer on Feb.25, 2009, under Questing
I got on and kept my eye on LFG, nothing too much was peaking my interest so I just went off and did my dailies.
I was getting some of my Sons of Hodir done (seen here on my hippo) when I saw someone shouting they needed a healer for Malygos. I thought man I’d really be interested in seeing that fight. Then it changed from needing a healer to needing a Priest. I thought wow it is destiny, so I gave in and sent a tell. First the guy ignored me for a good amount of time. Then he responded with what was my unbuffed spell power. Then after I told him he told me after some time, “hold on” and then I never heard anything. Inien noticed them in the Raid LFG and they had 10 people so apparently they found someone better than me
I really find it annoying when people act like such asses about PUGs. Give my experience with this game even if the other guy had better gear I bet I was a better Priest
After I finished my son of hodir, I went over and did my oracle dailies. Since I didn’t see any good groups still I went ahead and continued my questing in the basin. Here I was getting this last animal hunt out of the way which had an item in my inventory
I also ended continuing the chain for the big titan lady which took me through the waygate to unguro
It was kind of a neat set of quests, I’m not quite done with the chain yet though. I logged after this part and decided to do my inscription research and go see if I could mess around on the PTR for a few.
Egg Time
by Laneer on Feb.22, 2009, under Questing
I had been down with a migraine most of the day. I was icing which is eaistest done in my computer chair so I went ahead and did my Oracle Dailies to push me into revered yay. I’ve bought my first egg to hatch now. I am most interested in the pets over the mount. Hopefully I’m feeling better tomorrow and can do a little more. I’ve neglected my Sons of Hodir now for several days.
I’m still disappointed about the PTR too. I keep checking to see when they may have emptied the first copy queue.
Time Consuming
by Laneer on Feb.19, 2009, under Questing
I headed over after I got on to do my sons of hodir dailies, they are getting very time consuming now because there are so many of them. I feel compelled to finish it out though so I keep doing them. I got honored now and so I have even more to do. The one where you harpoon the drake is interesting, I failed the first time I tried it, at least I have levitate
Oh and don’t the blue ladies look ridiculous on a nether ray?
After I did Sons of Hodir I headed over for my Oracle dailies. They aren’t as important, but I did want to start being able to get eggs and try for the pets
I don’t really care if I get the mount at all, after all I think the proto drakes are ugly
It was so late when I got on that I knew there wasn’t time for a dungeon. I did decide to stock back up on my crit food while I was over there. So I did quite a bit of fishing for a bit am almost skilled up all the way. I kept competing with a horde priest that was running around for nodes.
Just before logging I went and made all but my ebon cloth (didn’t have any eternal shadow). This is me making spell cloth at the new location. This is the nifty new animation
Energy Low
by Laneer on Feb.18, 2009, under Questing
So little energy today after a long day at work and then groceries I ended up only getting on long enough to finish my Sons of Hodir, and Oracle dailies. Of course still trucking through my Inscription research on Laneir. I was happy to see Inien sent me a few extra herbs which was great because I was about out.
It looks like 3.1 on the PTR could be any day now as more info comes out about Uldar and testing of it. They have announced that 3.1 will not contain all class changes at launch. I hope it starts out with the Priest changes, I can’t wait to get on and play with Power Word: Barrier.
Blizzard also announced the fourth Blizzcon will happen this year. No word how many tickets they will sell or how they will sell them yet. I’m not sure given the miracle I pulled off last time to get tickets if I will be so lucky to get tickets a 4th time in a row. I will give it a shot though!
No Time
by Laneer on Feb.17, 2009, under Questing
Knowing I would have no time to play today because my wife and son were returning home (yay!) I decided to do my dailies before I went to work. Only it was Tuesday (boo!) but I managed to atleast get in my Sons of Hodir before they took the servers down for maintenance! I was really shocked that I managed to get all three done in about 20 minutes including the horribly random ice one.
I did manage to finish just in time everything I wanted to get don before going to pick up the wife and kid at the airport after work so I got on real quick to do my Oracle dailies. Yay for exploding puppies! It is so much easier just to blow them up yourself rather than use the crystals
Plus then you get to loot them!
Let The Dailies Begin!
by Laneer on Feb.15, 2009, under Group, Questing
I stated work on my Sons of Hodir again today. Just when I was really getting into it some guildies wanted to do HoL. So I took that little diversion as I needed rep and still wanted my pants. Of course my pants dropped for the first time ever and Mhage one them
Oh well at least it was a guildie I lost them too.
Then I went back to my questing for Thorim. Once I finally found where I got stopped at. I had a thing in my inventory the whole time. This quest was funny cause the crazy guy jumps down on the poor giant protodrake from the temple.
Did a lot of quests for him with my little buddies. They are full pets so I could bubble them with holy nova
I think this was a funny reference to multiboxing Shaman because you control all 5 of them at the same time with one button. Its pretty fun
I was so mad at the end of this chain to find out I was being controlled by Loken the whole time, damn him! I have no idea how that wuss was able to take down Thorim too. I bet Throim is going to be in Uldar some how.
I then went off to make my cloth and Blizzard fooled me again. I flew all the way out to the nexus to make some spell cloth when I got there and it didn’t work. They changed it to use the Azure Dragon Shrine! That is the second time they fooled me by moving them
At Least they are all close now.
I decided that I’d get the Oracle dailies started as well. Inien had done them all so I was able to bug him on where I needed to go to start and the other details of choosing. I definitely preferred the Oracles over the puppy people
They were really mean those puppy people wanting you to poke babies with sticks!
I finished out the evening with both Daily systems ready to run with them finished for today as well. Not a bad night if I do say so myself.
