Why Me?!?!

by on Aug.10, 2010, under Group, Raid

Ulduar sure looks pretty

Got on a little early today and managed to get the weekly done.  It was razorscale this week so it was back to Ulduar.  When I walked it I was a little shocked, I don’t know if it is because of the higher quality or the PC just renders different but Ulduar is very pretty :)   Something seemed more pretty to me anyways hehe

Above us!

Of course I had to highlight this little shot as well.  After all I don’t think I’ve ever had a computer that could actually render shadows of any kind without dying :P   So it was kind of neat to see Razorscale’s shadow  over us as we battled.

NOT AGAIN!

Ok here is where my “Why Me” comes into play.  I got back on after I got my son to bed, which took too long of course.  I wanted to do my random and what do I get?  HoL… I get this damn instance way too much.  Of course I come into it just as they are about to do the 2nd boss.  Of course after a few minutes I realized the previous healer must have killed himself or went for a walk or had “connection problems” because well the tank had no idea what he was doing.  He was barley geared in blues which I don’t mind but he was terrible to boot!  Then we had a ret pally in greens that some how managed to always get agro from the terrible tank.  We had a hunter which was the only one who knew what he was doing and a terrible cat druid.

So I spent the whole instance frantically trying to keep them all alive.  Failing once loosing the druid and ret pally.  I’ve never used pain suppression so much in my life hehe  So not only did I get silly HoL yet again but I got the group from hell yay.  The terrible tank was a DK which seems to be pretty easy to be terrible at.  I did end up making it through the instance though :P

After that finished I was just about to log but before I did I saw a tell for VoA10.  Since I’m trying to get as many badges this week as I can I stopped to get that done and out of the way.  Now I just need to get VOA25 and try to squeeze a few ICC runs in and I should get my pants :) The VoA run was almost fail too but thankfully we had a few really awesome people to make up for the lack luster ones :P

Slow Grind

by on Jul.17, 2010, under Farming, Group, Questing, Raid

Maybe it is because I haven’t done one in a while or because I have so little time anymore but my goblin rep grind seems slower than normal.  Even though I know it couldn’t possibly be as bad as when I did the Timbermaw 1 rep at a time before they changed the system all the way to exalted.  That rep had the occasional turn in item do as do the water waste guys I’m doing now.

DK

I got DK as my heroic daily today which I hadn’t done in a while.  The group had lost their healer but I joined them still at the first boss.  The tank was well geared but all the DPS were recent 80s I can tell.  I never mind not overgearing and instance, in fact they are way more fun that way :)

DK

I finished up the DK run which didn’t take much longer than usual and then started my quests in icecrown for the argent tournament.  I put myself in the looking for raid system for a 25 mana voa, Inien was finishing something else and mentioned he did the same.  I continued my quests in icecrown and then got a VOA25 invite, they were full though, and had apparently been wiping :(

I thought oh boy but stayed with them, a bunch of people left and I got them to invite Inien.  I told Inien what he was in for and finally after a long wait we went again.  I could tell the issue was their healers were severely under geared, but they had insane dps but then they wouldn’t switch to the frost thingys when they went up.  Anyways we didn’t wipe but a considerable number of people died and in the end the of this story Inien got the mage pants that dropped from this boss with a roll of 25 against 2 other mages, and it completed his 4 piece set!  Grats to him :)   One guy even offered him 6k gold for them hehe

After all that Inien and I finished up some tournament quests and I think we might have done a ToC in there some where too.  We went over and hit up ZG to try again for my silly baby raptor pet and for some more mounts for him.  Of course none of it ended up dropping.  We did about 3 tries for the pet.  It is a good distraction anyways :)

Relaxing Day of WoW

by on Aug.29, 2009, under Achievements, Group, Questing, Raid

Dragon Shrine

I had a nice relaxing day in WoW today, aside from the nagging headache I had all day.  I started of the day with making my cloth.  I hadn’t been keeping up with this and I do still need to make one more bank bag :)   I had to buy some more supplies on the AH and I was surprised to find NO eternal life on the AH.  Thankfully I still had 2 left but that is all.  Going to have to go get my own with Lanier I guess.

The Nexus

I ended up doing some Argent Tournament stuff while waiting in the queue for the heroic daily.  I ended up getting a group pretty quick for the Nexus.  It was a pro group and we tore through the instance in 30 minutes flat.  The tank was relieved apparently had a 800dps Ret pally in his last group.

After that I went back to finishing my argent tournament quests.  I was doing all the new ones but ran into one that didn’t work.  You were suppose to summon this guy at a spot on the island and that spot didn’t work for me.  Then I abandoned it to get it again and it wasn’t there anymore so I dunno if they took it out or what.

OS10

Little bit later in the day I ended up doing an OS10.  I was trying to get some quick badges with the fast raids.  The OS runs are fast and easy.  This one was even nicer because I got a raid achievement out of it :)   After I finished this I put myself back into some raid runs and ended up in a 25 man Vault.  That went super fast and I went on back to my questing.

Exlorers League quests!

I got back to doing my questing in storm peaks and there was some really good ones.  I didn’t know I was missing out on a bunch of Bran related stuff.  I love Dwarf quests and lore :)   I still think Dwarves are the best race! :P

On the Wing!

The quests I did yesterday were very exciting and I still have some to do.  I even found out in the process there was a faction I hadn’t seen yet, the Frostborn.  This is another crazy faction you can only raise with a single daily.  This daily is even more time consuming than the explorers league one.  Why is Blizzard so evil for us faction collectors? :P

Anyways I got a fair amount of questing done.  Still have plenty to do in Storm Peaks though.

Old Times

Heroic MGT

Not getting much play time lately has been hard on my stress levels I think.  I jumped on a bit this afternoon after work while my son was asleep.  Shalalala had just got the Lil’ Game Hunter achievement when I logged in (Grats to him again BTW!).  He has a bit more time than me and farms his own farmable pets. I just prefer to buy them, I can’t stand mindless killing :)   Anyways we got to talking about pets and he doesn’t have the MGT phoenix either so we decided to do a quick guild run of MGT.  I never did MGT that much, certainly not as much as Inien did.  In fact I didn’t even have the achievement still.  So some of us went, we had 3 Priests for some great beam action :)   When we first got their someone realized they hadn’t opened up heroic yet so we did it twice once regular and once heroic.  It took about 10-15 minutes each, it was stupidly easy because we were all well geared and awesome :)

Of course the pet didn’t drop though a enchant that Shalalala didn’t have did.  I had it but there are some that drop in MGT I still don’t have.  Shalalala is a complest like me as well :)   We decided we would try to run it when ever we could to get the pets :)   I guess there is a mount there too for the mount collectors.

Emalon Fight

When I got on later I decided to throw myself in for a Heroic Vault.  I was invited almost immeadietly and off we went.  We wiped on Emalon once at the very end just like on my last 10 man run of it.  This was probably the most chaotic Emalon I’ve ever seen though.  For some reason they didn’t control the adds very well.  When we started they were running around everywhere attacking people.  Then during the fight we would get an add running around.    We lost 1 person on both attempts to a rouge add, but we defeated him on the second try.  He dropped 4 pieces of PvP gear, 3 of which was cloth caster gear and I lost all 3 rolls quite horribly.  I didn’t roll a double digit on any of them!  I wouldn’t mind picking up more PvP gear to go with my survivability spec, it would make me even more sturdy :)   After that we finished Archavon and went on our merry way.  I did a few more dailies but decided to turn in early because I was so worn out.

Waiting for 3.2 to end up on the PTR’s to see what kind of undocumented nerfs they have in store for us :P   We also have the summer festival starting on Sunday, and there are alot of achievements to do for that one as well.  I’m least looking forward to the torch tossing one…  We are almost done though, I think this one and the beer fest and I will have completed the holiday achievements :)

Lil’ Game Hunter!

by on Jun.17, 2009, under Achievements, Questing, Raid

Glowy Fish Dinners

I got on and started doing some tournament stuff and quickly ended up in a Heroic OS.  Just for fun I dropped a fish feast as I will often do in a 25 man and threw an elder moon stone over it to draw attention.  Everyone quickly ran over and started eating.  I’m actually amazed by the number of people that don’t use food buffs :)   On this run I didn’t use any flasks/elixirs but thanks to raid buffs, totems and my cloak procing I was routinely seeing myself with over 2600 spell power which was kind of fun.  They had way too many healers on the run as usual, most of the healing was done by me and a Shaman and the rest was spread between several druids.  It went as easy as pie anyways.  The only thing I want from OS is badges anyways :P

Just as I was finishing up the OS Inien was getting into a 10 man vault and wanted to know if I wanted in.  I ended up joining right after trying to win the satchel.  We managed to go in and do pretty well on emalon but wiped the first time at the very end no less.  We got him the second time though and some mage/priest/warlock PvP boots dropped and I won them.

Big Pet Purchase

After that I did some Argent Tournament quests with Inien.  After we finished up I noticed, hey I have over 7k gold again, time to go spend some.  So I went to the AH to pursue my in game collection habit.  Yes I purchased me the firefly.   I always loved this pet but again I don’t have time to farm for these pets and saw it up for 1500G which was the cheapest I’ve ever seen this one.  Usually it sits in the range of 2-3k and you don’t see it around that often even on Doomhammer.

Yay Fawn!

I also happened to notice they had the Dark Whelpling for 700G so I bought this one as well.  This of course left me at 69 pets out of 70 for the achievement.  I had been waiting on getting the last pet from the Oracle eggs, the baby proto drake.  I thought what the hell I’ll buy it, but Inien told me not to that he had just mailed one to an alt so he gave me that one (Thanks Inien!).  This brought me to 70 pets and got me the Lil’ Game Hunter achievement and my Fawn.  It is a very well animated pet actually the way it moves its head and neck and when it runs.  So yes I now have a grand total of 71 pets.  You can check out my collection over at warcraftpets.com.  It is a very cool site that has all the knowledge of the non-combat pets you could want.  So I’m a bit more poor again but I don’t NEED anything and I just keep accumulating gold so I might as well use it for something I enjoy :)

Lucky Day!

by on May.26, 2009, under Achievements, Questing, Raid

My wife and son went off to visit some friends till Saturday so I found myself with a little more free time than usual.  So I hopped on to see if I could score me a few raids, and maybe get my pants.

Die Emalon!

What I ended up with soon after that was a 25 man Vault.  Not just any 25 man vault, but one that could actually kill Emalon!  It was so earie, I was sitting there healing the boss tank, throwing around a few raid shields when necessary when I thought, something doesn’t seem right.  Then I realized that the fight was going longer than normal.  I think I didn’t breathe from that point till we won.  He dropped all PvP gear and 2 of it was for Priests, but we had 4 Priests and I didn’t win any of it.  I did get the achievement and my first conquest token :)

A little bit after that I ended up in a 10 man version of Vault and did the same thing with a completely different set of people.  So the only thing I can determine from this is that the people that play when I normally get on, are not nearly as good as the people who are on earlier.   :P

After I did that I think  I did a few dailies then ended up in a 25 man OS.  I was finishing that up just about the time Inien got on.  I was excited because after I finished I would have enough badges for my Valorous Leggings of Faith.  Then as luck would have it the Valorous Gloves of Faith and this time I won them!  Well the token dropped but that is not as dramatic to link :)   Anyways I was excited both things were good upgrades.

Almost right after I finished I was on skype talking to Inien I got invited to a 10man OS.  Wanting to test things out I joined up and got Inien to come too.  We did that pretty quick, and I even won the spoils, yay gold!   Oh ya speaking of gold, my other upgrade of the day.  I bought off the AH the Bindings of Yearning for 950G.  They were a nice 214 upgrade, and had the stats I wanted particularly crit!

Charge!

After the OS Inien and I enjoyed some Tournament quests.  We did a few of the dailies before calling it a night.  I was quite pleased with my upgrades though.  For badge stuff I would like to get the Valorous shoulders next as I like the stat distribution more than my current shoulders.  Don’t care anything about the 4 piece bonus, plus I have my really nice Ulduar head :)

Getting Closer

by on May.25, 2009, under Group, Raid

I got on this evening hoping to catch the tail end of someones 25man Naxx or something.  Hopefully for the chance at some gear, and also for more valor badges.  I am still on course to get some new pants finally soon :P Anyways I was fishing in WG for the daily when we won WG which hasn’t been happening much lately. Two people were starting a 25 man VOA.  One required the achievement for emalon, the other did not.  I tried to convince the one that did to take me anyways, it is a dps fight but ended up going with the other group.  We could not kill emalon, in fact we wiped to the trash in front of him.  For once though we went and killed the other guy since it was late Monday night.

Itty Bitty

This was Inien and I messing around in town after our respective raids.  He drank a lot of pygmy oil, with a small feast, and baby spice! :P   Me I’m just on the baby spice and feast!  Shortly after this I got in a Azjol group and they needed dps so I got Inien to come.  It was a good group, between Inien and the Destruction Warlock we were cruisin.  Inien even got his 500 heroic badge  achievement while we were there.  I’m still a little ways away for mine, about 65.  I decided I want to trade my gloves in for the healing version ever since they change regen around so I need some more badges anyways.   I am just not lucky enough to win the ones off OS25 :(

Of course the reason I am short on badges is I started up Fesstir again.  I thought it might be fun to play the ol’ warlock so I got him ready and took him to northrend.  I was level 68, quickly 69 and half way to 70 now!   Was a good day.

Total Failure

by on May.20, 2009, under Raid

Failure

Gaze upon this group and you gaze on failure, because yet that is exactly what we were.  I got on pretty late, thought I’d mess around for a little bit and notice someone needed a healer for Heroic VoA.  So I join, they are talking about doing the new boss first of course, which to me meant I would get nothing.  I started off the only Priest, but we kept loosing healers (smarter than me) and eventually ended up with several more Priests.

Basically the raid leader kept insisting on 6 healers.  I don’t usually argue with PUG raid leaders but this fight is a DPS race, we need more DPS less healers. He wouldn’t listen and we kept getting blown up.  After being blown up 3 or 4 times I left for bed.  It really was a waste of my time, I’m not sure why I do it.  I really would like to see this boss go down SOMEDAY.

I would have been much better off to just go questing for a  half an hour than have that kind of frustration, sigh…

Ouch!

by on Apr.19, 2009, under Questing, Raid

I got on tonight and started doing my usual quests.  I was intending on maybe doing a heroic to get the 3 badges I need for the badge mount.  However shortly after I was doing some stuff Inien sent me a tell about a 10 man Vault, they were going to do the new boss.  I still wanted to see him down and went off to try it with them.  Well the DPS as usual wasn’t able to do it, and they nearly wiped me out of durability :P   I did exceptionally well and enjoyed it.  I was keeping up fairly well with the druid in healing not to mention all the mitigation I do :)   I love the spammable shield!

Eventually they gave up, no one kills the other boss in there now because no one wants to get saved.  That kind of bugs me because it just wastes my time… Anyways after that I just went about my business and did some tournament stuff before going to bed.  Not really a very exciting evening.

Getting Better

by on Apr.15, 2009, under Achievements, Questing, Raid

Shadowy

Things seemed a bit more stable today on Doomhammer, and I actually got out to try a few things.  I was able to update some more addons but I’m still not totally error free.  I messed around a little more with my secondary spec, and logged on Laneir to make me my glyphs.  I was out doing some questing and did so in Shadow mode to try it out.  Today’s quest had you fishing in wintersgrasp which I hadn’t done before.  There is some good fishing there!

Argent Tournaments

I got a letter in the mail about the Argent Tournaments so I decided to go out there and see it.  The place was still being built it seemed and there were quests to help build it so I went and did some of the dailies.  I don’t know if they have any baring on it completing, but I wanted to test my shadow powers more anyways.  I didn’t get a chance to try any of the event quests before Inien found a vault group that I joined.

New vault boss

I joined the group and headed over switching back to Disc mode.  I was very interested in healing to get a feel for the mana, and the much shieldy goodness :)   I was very pleased with how it all felt, I think they did a good job.  Rapture did not return a ton of mana though that is fore sure.

We were attempting the new boss fight, we didn’t have a lot of time to do it in either.  We made 3 attempts of total failure.  Inien ended up reading more about the fight after we lost and it seemed exactly what we thought.  The DPS were just not trying hard enough.  Basically the big guy casts a buff on one of the little guys, it does more and more damage, and gets bigger then it explodes.  If you don’t kill it before it explodes the raid wipes.  The DPS needs to be able to sustain 2k according to the stuff Inien read, Inien was well over that in our attempts, everyone else was around 1700.

Speaking of DPS just before I went to bed I played around on a target dummy and I was able to pull about 2800.  I might be able to do a little more than that but I’m still not used to everything I need to be doing yet.  Plus I noticed I was having issues keeping up everything too.  Once I can get used it more, so it becomes second nature like healing I could do better I think.  When I heal I don’t have to think much, it is instinctive which heal to use when and I have really fast reaction time.

Oh and one more thing, you would not believe what happened with my tailoring today.  I got Inien’s Frost Lotus in the mail and proceeded to make him his 3 herb bags.  I had a lot of cloth saved up, and I was expecting to get the 1 skillup I needed so that I could make 22 slot bags.   Guess what I didn’t get from the 3 bags I made on a yellow recipie…..Not the skillup I needed…I was so pissed so I thought I’ll just make another one and sell it so I got the lotus from Inien and I made it…Nope didn’t get it either!!!  ARG!  Tomorrow is cloth day I guess I’ll waste more of my mooncloth and make another enchanting bag and sell it hopefully, it is a guarenteed skillup.  Talk about frustrating!
